Just got this exact rod for streamer fishing it launches those heavy tips without getting bogged down and it’s super light I’m very impressed with it the 600 hurt but when I started fishing it I could see why it’s that much.
Hey Carson, that's great to hear! We love this rod and it's definitely my new favorite in that price point. Blindfolded next to an nrx, it wouldn't be easy to tell them apart.
how would u say the 6 or7 would be for central texas bass / redfish? I was looking at some of the discontinued models from last version of this, and wondering if this is worth the extra 150 bucks or so for the newer model. I love the rod seat on this new one! Thanks - edit small suggestions (I love your videos), maybe try and find some brighter line for the cast videos, real hard to see the loops out there. Show off that nice cast!
Thanks for the feedback! I think either would do well, you just may struggle with the 6 in wind or with bigger fish, or maybe even turning over big bass flies. But the 7 would definitely be great for both. This new one is shockingly similar to an NRX. Definitely more power than the previous generation
Hi there.. im searching for a glx crosscurrent 8wt from recommendations... you mentioned it being discontinued. Any rod you would recommend that is similar to it? Purely based on the supposed ruggedness and its ability to take a beating
If i buy this rod for freshwater smallmouth bass fishing which line weight would you suggest the 6 0r the 7 throwing 24ft sinktips with larger streamer patterns?
@@tailwaterflyshop I use 250 grain lines with my bank robber 7wt which weight would be closer to that the 6 or the 7 I was always under the impression that a saltwater 6 is just a freshwater 7? Am I confused on that?

I personally prefer the IMX Pro V2 S over the wave. It feels suspiciously close to the blue wrap NRX Pro 1. Tons of power and feel, but soft enough for delicate presentations.
looking to add this on my cart on your online store but was wondering how the 6wt and 7wt cast on 230 to 260gr fly line weights ? aslo how much do the rod weight ? it dont tell on the spec info so i can find a nice reel to kinda balance it out and get an idea..
I was using a 225gr on an 8wt today and it was perfect. That weight floating line would be a little bit heavy in my opinion for a rod in the lower weights, but would maybe go a half size up if you are focusing on casts in the 40ft and closer range. Something like a SA redfish would be good for that. The rod weight isn’t listed but we can throw on a scale tomorrow. In terms of swing weight it is on the lighter side like an nrx. Very light, very crisp feel with a Tibor Everglades. It is light enough that you could also put an ultra lite reel like a nautilus xl and it would pair nicely with that.
@@tailwaterflyshop thanks that's what i was thinking use a lightweight reel like a nautilus or ross ltx ..i fish on my skiff boat and beach surf just want a rod thats a rocket to fling line. maybe a cobalt rod would be more ideal for me as i hear its bit more stiffer and likes a bit more heavy fly lines like a rio outbound quick short. i really like the gloomis design its very clean and simple ... thanks let me know the rod weight so i can get an idea
Faster and lighter. Wave might have some more “feel” and heavier swing weight. If you liked the meridian then you’ll like the wave. But if you are looking for something a little bit lighter and crisp the imx is going to be your best bet

My fav rod is my blue NRX.
I wish Loomis would bring back the Glx

You should look at the V2 Streamer rod in 7810 or 8810. Next step up would be the NRX Swim Fly

In that situation, I would probably go for the 7wt, but the 6 should work too.

I'm in the market for a mid priced salt rod. Debating between this and a scott wave

How does the 11wt feel? I’m looking for a GT rod.
Is the NRX + salt truly better than the IMX v2 for the money?
NRX definitely feels a bit lighter and has a bit more power. However, the two rods are extremely similar and both are great options
