How does it do on uneven spots of the lawn? While my lawn looks flat, walking it has some ankle twisters. I have a bad leg and I used to like mowing but it is now getting painful. So, it will soon be either something like this or paying someone to cut my lawn. Frankly, I like that the robot will do frequent mows and the grass won't need to be cut down from looking ragged to freshly mowed. Also should solve the clumps of grass from poor mulching.
It does well. It is hard to see on camera but my backyard has some good inclines. As for some of those ankle twisters, if they were deep there is a chance that one of the cutting heads could scalp. For those I would just do a 50/50 mix of sand and topsoil and add a bit of grass seed.
From the looks of the model I have, it appears to be just a few screws to open things up. I may take a look at seeing the user serviceability of the mower.
4 weeks or so now and I'm really impressed with with my AWD5000. Can set it off from anywhere with internet. Freeing up blades is necessary after every cut taking only 10 minutes although I'm wondering why I bother since they are always radial. I do think that instructions are lacking when using the app, so mostly self taught by trial and error. My biggest concern from the start was I have many trees and high hedges but no problem at all not even when i move on to an area on the the far side of my barn. 5⭐️
I assume you didn’t set all of your trees as no-go zones. So, when the Luba works it’s slow way around the tree, does it have AI to learn the tree locations and work quicker around the trees over time?
I am very interested in a Luba. I reel mow about 8000 ft.² in my backyard at about 1/2 inch. Any chance that sucker could get modified with a spacer to get me down to that .75 inch range instead of the 1.2 inch. I might be able to live with .75 inches in the back and continue my reel at 3/8 in front. Would love a Luba model for us levelled reel mow guys who mow every 3 days.
If you have any questions leave a comment and I will address them in future videos. For more information on the Luba AWD 5000 please visit us.mammotion.com/products/luba-awd-5000-perimeter-wire-free-robot-lawn-mower?ref=rld
I would go to google maps and use the measurement tool to get an idea of how much area will be mowed. Based off of what information I have right now I would think you could manage with the 1000. Allows up to 3 zones and that should be more than plenty
Hard to say. I have had great luck with mine. All depends on how long the batteries last. They are not user replaceable but that doesn’t mean they cannot be replaced by someone that has the skill set.
I seen one review about it not working with an Android phone? And, what about your front yard, does the antena cove that area or do you have to have a seperate antena? Will it stop the mower blades to cross over a gravel driveway? Thanks, great video!
Thanks for watching! The same antenna can cover both the front and the back but I need to relocate it first. This model can do up to 10 zones and with the app you can make connector routes between the zones. The blades will be off during this time. So one side of the driveway would be a zone and the other side of the driveway would be a zone.
@@ReelLowDad For Luba to navigate successfully, both Luba and your RTK need to see enough of the SAME satellites at the same time. It is what it is with Luba moving around, but you can maximize your RTK by getting it as high as possible, thereby increasing the odds they can pair up enough satellites. As for your RTK 'talking' to Luba, the RTK and Luba use a very robust 900 megahertz radio system to communicate with each other, so unless you have metal buildings or other major interference on your property they should be able to talk to each other very easily over a very large area.
RTK antenna and Luba don't need line of sight. For gravel: the Luba only switches the blades on once he arrived in the zone he should mow. So if you configure a path from one zone to another one (in your case over a gravel driveway) Luba will not have the blades running.
I have it mowing my whole yard now and my neighbors front yards since this video. I have one enhancement almost ready and am planning another but that will take a lot of engineering
I don't like robotic mowers at all. I'm 95% liking this mower. I like the boundary setup using gps. Does it have a alternate mow pattern option? Do you connect through bluetooth to setup. Wifi after initial setup and to allow the change of settings? Seems to have used a 3d printing grid slicer to create a mowing area. Interesting.
I will be doing an in-depth video on setting up the zones soon. It is set by default to do a "double grid" so it mows in one direction first then mows again perpendicular to the firsat passes. During the setup it connects to Wi-Fi and also bluetooth. The bluetooth connection is a bit faster, but requires being near the mower.
There was initially when the grass was thinner and it had a more aggressive turn around procedure. It is now much easier on the turns and I have not noticed any damage to the grass.
@@ReelLowDad Well, that does it then. I will be staying with the rubber tires instead of the omnidirectional plastic tires that are now available. Thanks
Thats dope! Surely it's only a matter of time until you'll be able to get it with a striping kit and have it programmed to do single-double diamonds or maybe even something crazier like a photo.
I've seen pictures on the Luba forums of folks 'cutting' large letters in their lawn - one guy spelled 'LUBA'. To do this, they made 4 'no go' zones, one the shape of each letter.
I had one ordered, but once I attempted to read the 20 or so pages of legalize in the privacy agreement attached to the app, it scared me and I canceled my order. Do you have any opinion of why all this legalize is necessary to mow my lawn?
I would say most of it has to do with what various governments require when it comes to what an app can and cannot do/see. In the Apple App Store it is listed that the app does not collect any data. My SRAM app collects all sorts of data and has a much larger privacy agreement and that's just for my bike.
Was this your first read of legal documents for a purchase? I mean, most are like that. People try to sue for everything, even if the buyer is completely at fault.
I just can't get over the HOC... For bermuda grass it's just too high! If someone made a robot mower that could cut at .5" I'd be all over it, but I realize that there are many challenges that would go along with that unless the lawn is perfectly flat. The EcoFlow goes to .75" but people are having major issues with those; it clearly wasn't ready for prime time yet. I think it's only a matter of time (
It is that simple. I have mowed 5 times without issue at 20mm. There is a little bit of room let to maybe make a 15mm spacer, but then you fall back into using a rotary to mow low and the issues that come about with that and not being perfectly level
Looks great but doesn't have the ability to cut low and itd known to dig up grass over time. Appreciate the video but not enough to sell me. I'm very particular and Luba doesn't wow me. Thanks for the video.
To each their own but I have evolved beyond chasing the low HOC. I can spend money on doing that or doing something better for me. I chose to do something that betters me. It’s cutting well at the 20mm with my mod but I prefer spending time on the mountains with my bike now.
@ReelLowDad until any of these can do 3.5" to 4" they are a no go for me in the transition zone. I have to have the higher cut to make it through the Tennessee summer. This one seems to be a move in the right direction for robot mowers though. Since I'm sure your sponsor integration comes with metrics for them link tracking I did go look. If you have a sponsor agent you're dealing with that wants to discuss your conversion numbers.... let them know that at least this person can't buy one that's cutting under 3".
I will relay that information to them. It is a huge segment of the market to miss out on. Our Tennessee summers can be rough on shorter cool season lawns.
Thanks for posting this. This video convinced me to pull the trigger on the 5000 today, rather than wait for the NeoMow X KickStarter.
Well if you used my link for the mower I will send you a kit for free.

Most likely next year, I am likely buying one. The only thing that I am worried is the business. Will Luba be around for 5 years if I have a problem?
Based from all the ones I’ve seen by all you “influencers” this is my favorite one. Nice review!!
I just ordered my Luba AWD 1000 yesterday. Once the batteries wear out do you think you could get to them and replace them?
From the looks of the model I have, it appears to be just a few screws to open things up. I may take a look at seeing the user serviceability of the mower.
@ReelLowDad Please check on if this thing will be replaceable, and can be done as DIY.

Just wondering if you are noticing any problems with the large rubber wheels tearing up the grass so that it looks bad ?
@Don Dascher Don't have any damage to the lawn at all. Haven't set Luba cutting the grass when wet but doubt it would be damaged.
I ran it in the rain for a bit but it made cleanup messy.

You guys wanting lower I’m over here looking for higher! Looking for that 3.5-4” height!
Too bad it’s not an easy fix to make the HOC higher.
Tell me more about how you have lowered the HOC!
Soon. Hopefully

Yes. I currently have it set to my front, back, side yards, and my neighbors front lawn.

How does it do with constant water from sprinkler systems
Rated IPX-6 so it can withstand direct high pressure sprays from a water source.
First Aussie 😁. Mike ,I’ll take a pass on the Luba Tool as I like being out on the lawn getting my lawn therapy. 😎

Should be able to since it only needs Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
You wouldn't have an app surely.
It's not low enough for me to consider buying. I need something that can at least go down to half inch.....
Stay tuned. I may or may not have something in the works. 😁
SECURITY: I live on a Corner Lot with a Chain-Link Fence

It’s bound to the app during setup and the GPS in the mower would allow you to locate it. Maybe I should test it out and see what happens
Several, issues missed - how to clean, waterproof , edges left uncut, rocks, cutting two different parts of a garden, warranty, etc
All will be covered in future videos.
