Great idea of a service. Stunning results for what is a relatively simple process and I would imagine cost effective so win win for you guys and the customer
Hey Gregory, It was Rupes uno pure - amzn.to/38c5ghg We also use Gtechniq W9 - amzn.to/3NtAgYX - For the areas we can machine so W9 via a brush or a microfibre pad to cleanse the coating ready for EXO.
Thats a brilliant service to offer. As was watching was thinking thats a missing service a ceramic coating maintenance/top up or not something ive heard people going on about but ive been mentioning to customers if they've either had a coating applied or thinking of getting a coating done to ask and check if this is something there detailer provides as a aftercare. Its certainly not anything i heard anyone in and around Edinburgh providing. Its something that dealerships we're meant to say to customers as its says in the surpa guards many moons ago when i worked in dealerships

So if shallow surface defects are being removed from intermediate paint it suggests around 1 micron of paint has been removed. Given a ceramic coating is bonded to the paint, once the paint is removed the coating is removed with it. I would therefore suggest that this isn't a ceramic maintenance service, but a paint strip (contamination/coating) and application of another coating. It would have been interesting to see if the paint was easy to wash and had any water repellency. In my experience these dealer coatings are gone in months and sold as lifetime coatings. The customer doesn't often want to hear that they wasted their money on a high commission add on. I find it helpful to just to advise starting again - paint correction and certified coating.
Hey, Masterclass Detailing Thanks so much for checking out the video. I love diving deeper. Fantastic response. Indeed in some cases, what you describe "removal and application" happens. Would you believe all the Broll was done by staff members' phones, and the quality sucked? That's why no wash or wheel wash footage 😖. I was away during these phases juggling home/work. Water behaviour was good..but the customer regularly maintained the Aston Martin with detailing sprays. So true ceramic water behaviour is unknown... Some ceramic coatings lose their hydrophobic properties in a matter of months but still provide their scratch and chemical resistance. Crystal Serum Ultra for example. After maybe 3-4 months, I find the hydrop[hobic drop off dramatically, but its most definitely;y still there. it requires the hydrophobic layer to be reapplied so a mild acid (water spot remover) or a light finishing pass can remove the dead ceramic surface and we replace it. but the core protection layers are still there. Usually, this service is carried out with water spot remover. But as you could see on the Bonnet, it required a little more. So as agreed with the customer, we carried out this service. Of fast arm..movement large working area machine passes Once again. Thanks for diving deeper into the discussion I'm excited to hear if you have tried the water spot / MF Finishing pad technique on any of your ceramic vehicles? Heavily water spotted vehicles? Thanks Alan 👊👍

nice work sir! Can't beat a metallic grey with a popping finish. A cool drivers car for sure. 😎👍
Maybe I missed it but what polish were you using to clean up the previously installed coating?
