    You should make yourself a lip gaff for pulling those pike out of the hole, easy to make just need a 7/0 stainless J hook and a hunk of broom handle.

    Any time you can spend the day with family is a GOOD day! And you caught a fish too. Noticed that you still have your running crack in the windshield. Any plans to get it fixed in 2018? Can't wait to see the next tent video and then off to Louisiana. Great times ahead. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us. Have fun and God bless . . .

      You know I always love when you comment Suzi, you have been a subscriber for a very long time. My Daughter Sara has been in Florida this last week posting pictures of her laying out on the beach in nice warm weather while up here tonight the actual air temperature will be 16 below. I will send you the same loving response I said to her... You Suck!!!..... Hahahahahaha. It has been so cold here for so long it will be nice when we finally see a 50 degree temperature. Two weeks and I should be in Louisiana and then my kids can tell me I suck... LOL.

    I am live in California. It is amazing to me that it is ok to drive a pickup truck on 12" of ice. I looked it up, and it still seems like it shouldn't work, but it does. Thats about 1000 lbs per wheel. If it bounces while driving the momentary force can be double that. Wow.

    • @JoeandZachSurvival
      @JoeandZachSurvival  7 лет назад +2

      I drove out once with a 3/4 ton crew cab truck and there was only 10 inches of ice. I thought there was more when I drove out. Never again. I always want at least 14 inches of ice. There was over 24 this time out.

    I was out on Pelican last Wednesday, got two 23" and two 29" between the two of us. Have you ever tried or thought about spearing northern? That lake is plenty clear enough.

    • @JoeandZachSurvival
      @JoeandZachSurvival  7 лет назад

      It is very clear. I have never thought about spearing. We only had 2.6 feet of water between the bottom of the ice and the lake bottom. Lol.

    • @jordanengdahl4418
      @jordanengdahl4418 7 лет назад

      JoeandZachSurvival Wow! 2.6 feet? I saw houses set up super shallow and thought they were crazy. I was in 8 feet, my friend was on 6 feet. Give spearing a try some time, or at least fish out of a spearing sized hole. I love watching the lunkers move into sight and stare at the bait, that way you get to see the ones you don't catch.

    • @JoeandZachSurvival
      @JoeandZachSurvival  7 лет назад

      How is the duck hunting? I am a duck hunting nut.

    • @rjwickland6557
      @rjwickland6557 7 лет назад +1

      Lots of local ducks, puddle ducks early . And it can have big rafts of divers and geese too . You're aware certainly of the lake draw down ? I think this year will be the 3rd or 4th year in a row to draw it down. Thus, I was surprised when you still found 8 foot of water to fish in . I may have to head west there, about 1/2 hr from my house to that P lake, and fish for 'gills and Crappies yet . The draw down is to allegedly improve the duck hunting .

      A tip up is a flag with a spool of line and when the line is pulled or a fish is on it the flag pops up and indicates that there is a fish on the line

    • @Hagfan789
      @Hagfan789 6 лет назад

      Tip up actually. Very common to hear this yelled across the lake on a nicer day..."TIP UP!! Followed by some frozen fisherman doing his/her best to run across the ice without killing themselves..lol
      These tip up's also make it easier to fish then the alternative of cutting a hole in the ice big enough to fit your boat in. ;)
