Depending on howuch you earn and // or where you live, fire departments, the local government, police departments,and emergency services agencies give free smoke alarms as a public safety.
This specific system is a double interlock pre-action with dual device activation required for solenoid operation. If a sprinkler head operated, the air pressure would drop and nothing else would happen. If 1 smoke goes off nothing happens. If 2 smokes go off then the solenoid will open and nothing else will happen. Now, what happened in the video is, is two smokes go off, which would open the solenoid and let the priming water move up to a pneumatic actuator which has air pressure still above it, so the valve still hasn’t operated. Next a sprinkler operated, which released air pressure on the system and the top of the pneumatic actuator. This released the priming water pressure, which allowed the valve to operate, and fill the pipe with water. That white box is a manual release for the priming water. So if there were a fire and it hadn’t delivered water yet for some reason, or you wanted the system to be ready faster, you could pull that and trip the valve, but until a sprinkler operated water still wouldn’t come out.
Correct. This system is called dual interlock preaction by the way since the alarm activation alone (From smoke in the video) doesn't open the valve unlike on a single interlock system where it would open (And only discharge water if the actual head is activated still).
Wrong sequencing. First the alarm sound then circuit breaker shut down all machineries in that location , then open ventilation to maximum , then sound larger alerm to get people move away , then when motion detect no human then it activate extreme water or cccf or foam depending on type of fire : alpha use water , bravo use cccf of foam , electric charlie use cccf or foam
You should not use sprinklers in rooms like this 1. The water will damage the equipment in the room 2.the water needs to be cleaned up this is why foam fire suppression systems are better
Water is much more efficient to suppress a fire plus cheaper, in this case it's used to suppress a fire in a maintainence room which the fire could be more intense as there will be a lot of combustible liquids or wiring that possibly make foam suppression system weak against it
