Also smart to use space blanket as tent footprint, great ideas

They work well and are budget friendly. I've found the SOL brand to be the most durable. amzn.to/3Iz65id I can usually get months out of one, if not longer. Some of the cheapest ones don't last long at all. A little nick and they'll rip in half!

great advice as always! I've made the mistake of being in a small(ish) depression during a storm, needless to say, I ended up sleeping in the toilet block after being flooded out! For fire, I always have a ziplock bag with a couple of makeup pads soaked in candle wax to start a fire, great use for those candles that are almost burnt out.

Oh no! Thank goodness for the toilet! I think we've all been there 😅. That's a great idea for a fire starter. I've used cotton balls with vaseline but never thought to just use leftover candle wax!

Maddron Bald in the Smokies was the worst for us, hypothermia and all. The temp dropped so much from the elevation gain and it rained the entire time up. Are you still doing videos or are you taking a break? Really love seeing you and Cinnamon out there.

Oh wow. That’s not good! Glad you made it out okay. Been taking bit of a break but we have more videos in progress.

im curious, what do you do with your van when you do your thru-hikes? In the future, id love to plan it where I spend months at a time driving around the country, filming and taking macro photos of nature on trails

There's a lot of options! Vehicle storage yards work well but aren't free. I've used Uhaul a couple times now, paid around $50/month. Friends and family, for the PCT last year, I drove across the country and left it at my dad's house. I even left it on a public street for a short trip once. Trailheads, too, for short trips but I tend worry about it and hide my things well or leave them with someone before heading out.

My dogs are great companions but at night they're a nightmare - they growl at a chipmunk walking through leaves. *sigh* 😒 ps - anyone know if you can run out of adrenaline? I'd hate to need some only to find out it's been used up over chipmunks. Thanks

Hahaha, sometimes I, too, growl at chipmunks walking through leaves in the night 😂. Haven't run out of adrenaline yet!
