finally got my 2017 RC 390 2 days back.. I'm in love with it already.. I rode both the new and old version back to back.. and I noticed one more difference.. the handle bars are wider than the previous version.. they feel more comfortable and also I fealt that handling was better with wider handlebars.. Bro, you talked about the newer version being more comfortable guessing that KTM has played around with the suspension or something.. maybe the wider handlebars were the main reason behind it 😃☺
+Abhishek Dhiman it could be, it felt more comfortable and I have later confirmed that they have tweaked the suspension. But wider handlebars is something very very new. Have you measured it. If not do measure and let me know.

Rahul Nice review very much detailed.And you have ridden the 10r and other superbikes.how is the damping felt on the 2017 rc 390 comparing with litre bikes.also the new duke coming with split function forks and better shocks.Some reviews say its better in corners.waiting for your 17' duke 390 review to confirm that.

I saw the Duke 390 last night and the Duke 390 now is immensely more comfortable. IF you want a comfortable motorcycle, the Duke 390 is the way to go.

Which has a better handling ?? 2017 Ktm duke 390 or the RC 390???

should i go for a rc 390 or duke 390(2017 version).I love supersports....but duke is pretty tempting... and also the price is nearly same... and also the fact that new rc is gonna arrive by next year! Help me!
If you want to do city and highway short rides with a bit of cornering fun get the RC, for city and long tours get the Duke. Duke is more practical and all purpose motorcycle, whereas the RC is a more specialized motorcycle for trackdays and canyon riding.
Can we install an underbelly exhaust on this like the 2016 model?

There's a way to turn on both the lights simultaneously. I got this information from KTM showroom in Silchar. As the 2017 RC 390 has DRLs so it lacks the light switch. Well, you can install one if you feel like. It is possible to turn on both the lights at the same time but only on High-Beam or Upper. Unfortunately, you can't turn both of them on on Low-Beam.

The glossy one looks better but is harder to maintain.

The RC 390 is one of the eye catchy bike on roads. It for short rides and not for touring and city ride as it heats up severely.
The Duke 390 also heats up but not as RC. If want to do heavy rides and touring with your friends then go for Duke 390.

+Nanda Kishore Ranga both are reliable, Honda a bit more but KTM is extremely goodnight performance wise KTM beats Honda, same thing about features, riding position is a bit more comfortable in Honda.

Did the extra weight of the 2017 model cause any reduction in fuel economy? What was the average mileage that you got on your 300km trip?
d4dracula2010 i don't think the way we rode, will get you proper numbers plus it's a brand new bike and milage improves after 1st service, and now 7 kg weight gain wont affect mileage.

Hi Rahul, i am new to your channel and have just one worries about the KTM390 are did they solved the heating issues.
I own a royal enfield Classic 500 which i use for the long rides and i usually cover 450-500km a day i am planning for a new bike for the long rides. I have my eyes on himalayan and duke390, the only problem with himalayan is the lack of power and the speed is limited and the worries in KTM390 are the heating issues and is it good for long rides (450-500km a day) is the sitting posture comfortable for long rides. Really waiting for tour feedback.

+santosh gopi the new version is very comfortable, I have just ridden the Duke 250 and the 390 has the same seating posture. Also the heating problem is only there in city bumper to Bumper traffic, the bike has never heated up even on my 2013 Duke during all day riding tours that I do. (I have videos of that riding with a group of Superbikes) all day riding is very easily possible on the new bike and the Bluetooth features added to it just gives an extra convinience.
Thanks for the really quick reply, i stay in bangalore and the showroom i visited had 250 and not the 390duke and i was comfortable with the seating but have no idea about the posture for the long rides and taking the luggage do you recommend 390duke for the leh-ladhak road trip. Have completed many rides down the south and i am planning leh-ladhak in august, please recommenced if duke is a doable bike for the road trip.

Do visit sometime for biryani in the taaz biryani, and lassi after that. secondly,yes that long winding turn is where we hone our cornering skills and that was close call with that eeco I guess. The car guys sometime pretend like nothing happened. anyways nice review. happy riding....

Is it comfortable for short tours now? Like 300-350km? And for daily commutes? The reason I am a bit skeptical about duke is its tft console, its indeed a great thing to have but there would be a lot of parking issues. The headlights and console would attract many thieves.

+Sahil Sharma ninja 300 or R3 are not Superbikes, the basic requirement of being a Superbike is usually 800cc, all of these are sportbikes, for India they are midrange sportbikes and for Markets like USA, they are beginner sport bikes all 3 are in that same category.
