    Great video. I also teach players to see the direction of the slice and move that direction to setup. This allows you to be in the correct position to hit the ball after the ball bounces a bit higher.

      That's my goal for today as well. This one particular player hits every ball with an under slice spin. Nobody can return his hits. Using Tyler's tips, I'm determined to up my skills to at least get the score to 11 - 9. Baby steps!

    Keep doing these - you’re a great team! I love the way you break down the instructions into basics that are pretty easy to remember when I try them later.

    How about hitting a drop after they slice it. I struggle with this so bad , a drive is pretty simple , but I see pros hit drops effortlessly on slices when they want to. What’s their technique on those

    I always played the return of spin shots by letting the ball bounce and wait for the spin to happen. Then hit after the spin happens, anticipating the spin direction. In other words bounce, spin, then react to the spin, knowing how it is going to bounce. I will try hitting BEFORE the spin. Thx.

  • @weiwang8472
    @weiwang8472 3 месяца назад

    I did the opposite way. I am waiting for the ball to bounce and spin and then hit the ball after it changes direction. I thought I hit later so that the spin is weaker so that I could control the ball easily.
    Thank you for sharing this and I can correct my skills.

    Easier and more clear explanation: If your opponent hits a slice with their forehand, it will spin to your left. If they hit a slice with their backhand it will spin to your right.

    We get low because of underspin. For sidespin, approach the ball with the knowledge of which the ball will move sideway. We either get closer when we know that the bounce ball will move away. We will not get too close knowing that it will move close to our body as it bounces. The direction of vounce is opposite to the opponent's swing path.

    Still looks like she’s hitting it near top of bounce vs hitting it lower. What am I missing?

    And to practice getting low, practice deep squatting. Do deep body-only squats every day, and you will see yourself playing much better against low balls. Great video.

    Why pros use this slice rarely and prefer top spin? Is it because it hard to consistently hit it deep?

    • @universalrackets
      @universalrackets  3 месяца назад

      Spin does not have the same effect as in tennis, in tennis the ball can spin much more and really change points, in pickle ball there is not as much room and the ball doesn't move as much!

  • @adamheath4599
    @adamheath4599 7 месяцев назад +8

    Um, a slice shot is specifically backspin. You’re referring to side spin. Slice can also have side spin to them but it’s backspin lol.

    Wrong. You go to the ball and you will get into trouble regardless. Better observe your opponent and adjust your body position instead.
