Still trying to get to our Viking River Cruise. I bought the foot hammock. Glad to know you liked it. Our last trip over and back from Europe was not fun. I am watching all of your videos to make this one as smooth as possible. It will be cool in Prague in March, so we need to be strategic about what we take. We are from Anniston Alabama, just west of Atlanta.
Oh yesssss! I know that city. I do like the foot hammock. Be sure to wait until take off to put it on the seat. It does not shake the seat of the person in front of you.
Hi, when you bought the ticket, you should've been able to check disability or something like that. But it really depends on the airline's rules. I would ask the gate agent 40 minutes before your flight if you can preboard and tell her/him why. Good luck and have fun!
I never use the pocket with the exception of readind the sky mall magazine. Once I put my cheap head phones in there, reached in and found a very old used diaper. Left the headphones in there for good. Most airlines also charge for wifi. Download books, videos, games that do not use wifi before you fly to save some money.
I can't thank you enough for all your help with my recent trip with my daughter. Unfortunately I did not like Bush airport because the TSA seemed unorganized. I wish they had a separate line for families. Luckily I allowed enough time to get thru. I did not check in any bags but they did end up checking our rolling carryons before we boarded. I was prepared though thanks to your tips and had our valuables and medicines in our personal backpack.
It's almost like the flight attendants; when you have good ones, you're so appreciative. To me, the TSA is also part of my flight experience. When they're nice, it's so nice! Smart to get there early. Thanks for watching!
I have been following your travel tips. What a great help for us on our first time flying here in Philadelphia to CUN. I have learned so much from you. I want to thank you!
Laurie you are a travel genius 👑 your travelling tips videos are a godsend, so good! I travel long haul regularly and am a newbie. Your channel is a lifesaver 🏆 thank you! I guess I am one of the few that always seems to be boiling hot on flights either that or it's my age 😁
Your tip regarding the lady who couldn't carry her luggage made me think of a travel tip that I use and I don 't know why I didn't share it before. But because airports are huge I can't walk very far especially with luggage but when you make your reservation ask for special assistance because walking is difficult and someone will meet you when you check in at the airport and wheel you and your luggage thru security and to your gate and even if you want to get something to eat to take on the plane. But get to the airport 90 minutes before flight boards to make sure you get to the gate in plenty of time. When you land at your destination a person will be there waiting for you to help you to go baggage claim it you need to go there or help with arrangements leaving the airport.
Hi Laurie, I'm going to Yelpa Mexico at the beginning of March. It's going to be warm. Thanks for the packing list. I was thinking about bringing a microfiber towel.
If you have Netflix and the wifi is not working like it has done to me, use the download feature and watch your shows offline. This actually worked out really well on my last flight because the wifi would not work with my phone. the flight attendants are like Nurses and CNAs to me they are heros in the sky for putting up with so much and taking care of everybody. I am partially disabled and I let them know before hand and checked in with the flight crew about what I can do on my own and what I would need help with. Knowing how many rows back my seat was and knowing which side of the plane it is from both directions made their job easier. I always choose a seat around 24-30. its in the backish part of the plane without being close to the bathroom but is usually nearer to an attendant that does the safety demonstrations.
Oh that is smart! Yes, hubby taught us how to download them to watch later during the iced in 15 degree days here when we lost power. Thanks for watching; don't miss my newer videos too.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie i stumbled onto your videos last night and have been watching them all night. Those 5-15 degree days were the worst! My little brother and I had to go out to the car to warm up every couple hours. He had data service which was good so we watched shows. We didn't have any food that wasn't something you at least needed water for except the snacks I always keep in the house. (We are both in our 20s and those snacks saved us) I will be subscribing soon. A lot of the things you have talked about I actually used my first flight alone which I knew about just from the TSA website because I knew if I wanted answers I could just go to that website and search.
Love your hacks very helpfully,I recently travel and took your suggestion of the backpack.I like this idea because I had hands free all the time.😀 thanks
Reclining our seat back is something my husband and I don’t do. We want the person behind us to be as comfortable as possible, without our taking part of their space. Also, we don’t put anything in the seat back pocket. We don’t want to forget anything, it’s germy and we don’t want the person in front of us to feel any tugging. Thinking of others is just part of being a thoughtful, considerate fellow passenger.
If I need to adjust my seat, I usually tell the person behind me that I’d like to adjust, and to tell me if I am in their way. Generally, I only need a tiny adjustment, just enough room to put my sweater rolled up at my lower back.
Oh that large tote is great is great for my purse for business meetings or shopping etc. I do pack a super small purse for like going to dinner etc. Ty you are the best. And we are based in Houston.
The hammock for feet looks awesome for the next time i fly 11 hrs. I love long International flights, but it is good to move around too. By the way AirFrance is phenomenal.
Hi Laurie, you mention removable blue tape a few times in your videos. What kind of tape is this? Thanks for your help. Also the hoot of your electronic boarding pass is a really good one!
I have seen the videos where you talk about wearing compression socks to prevent swelling. Have you compared some brands of are there brands you would recommend? The question can be for anyone else also. I'm open to any recommendations. Thanks! I LOVE this channel.
Ooh, I absolutely LOVE Zella leggings from Nordstrom. They are what I have worn overseas. I just wear a dress over them. I see that they have so many now; I wouldn't know which to tell you.
Another thing I learned is your gate might change for whatever reason when you 're in flight too. So if you are being picked up after you land just a FYI.
I don’t put anything in the seat back pocket now. I bring a plastic bag to line the whole pocket, then I put stuff in there inside the bag. Too many germs! (What happened about your bedbugs?)
I looked at the phone charger on your link but isnt that lithium? Im confused, thought we couldnt have anything lithium on airplane. Im going to be traveling and need to purchase a phone charger for my trip and will be flying. Haven’t flown in years so just prepping myself.
I don’t know if you’ve mentioned this on another video but I’ll be going on my first flight Tuesday night and wanted to know if blankets are allowed on the plane and if they are counted as a personal item or would I have to fit it in my carry on?
If im not mistaken, we are not allowed to use a power bank in an airplane anymore? Or is it just my country :| we can bring the power bank with us but not use them while in flight. Plus we have usb ports in the aircraft itself
I'm not sure. We can still use them here in the US and to Germany. You are not supposed to put them in your checked bags. I think phone chargers are so small they won't care. Thank you for watching!
When one of my bags may be checked I put one set of underwear, a Tshirt, and a pair of socks in a large ziplock bag and put it in my personal bag so I have something if the luggage gets lost.
Regarding the Diet Coke tip. What is the tip? That it takes longer to pour the Diet Coke? Does it really matter since you're not going anywhere once you're on the plane?
You may get the whole can because they don't want to spend forever at your row waiting to fill it to the top. I assumed we always got the can, but this year, I have only gotten a cup. But I don't drink DC.
I have taken my 22 inch carryon on theirs twice from America and back. You could try a cheaper one for this flight if you're worried. Thanks for watching!
My carry-on is the Samsonite Spark 55cm x 35cm x 20cm = 110 total cm (21.5in x 13.5in x 7.5in = 42.5 total inches) Weight: 2.4 kg or 5.3 lbs, but there are even lighter ones (less than 2kg empty weight) available now. www.samsonite.co.uk/search/?q=35+cm
On another of your videos (couldn't find it) you said to never get a layover of...less than an hour..? I have one! I got my flight on Expedia.com. what do you suggest I do?
I love your shirt do you sell them? I have learned travel less is best small wallet , large totes for lap top plastic zip lock for cords. Cell phone , ead phones etc. I wear tennis shoes to travel and put slip ons in case. I always have my coat that I can roll up in my case that I carry on. I have a soft suitcase just like David's airline approved. All my shampoos are saved from the hotel's. I did get a cell phone hold. Omg so may things having a pilot can be an advantage however there have been times when I try and take my great shampoo not see get taken. WHAT Happens to our stuff?????? Ty you are fabulous.
You were the same person that told us dont carry my cricket bat thank you because i saw someone who took a bat with him and the security took it im glad i watch your videos also can i get a shoutout
Great video, new subscriber from UK. Question, I have an upcoming flight to Las Vegas via Houston and only have 1.15 hr layover...is this enough time ? Thanks!!🙂
I was worried about my short layover too but what helped is to download the airport maps before. I had a 45 min layover in dallas. My flight landed in one terminal and the connecting flight was in another terminal. But I saw that there was a free airport train called the Skylink that easily took you to each terminal.
I’ve heard several tales of people having their phones die from using the USB outlet on the plane. Probably because of power spikes. So I would use a battery to charge, then charge the battery, not the phone, from the plane itself.
“Smooshing the face against the seat back trying to dig stuff out of your handbag” 😂 been there, done that. So right. Gotta get some blue tape. Excellent idea.
Marilyn Heras go check with TSA on their Facebook page. You can ask there, or check the current regulations on the TSA site. The problem with any of us answering is that regulations can literally change overnight. What was ok last week might not be today due to some threat they learnt about yesterday. Always travel with the idea that you might have to lose stuff on the way through TSA & just let go and move on. When you get to your destination just buy another. It’s not just about faster lines. Sometimes it’s a threat that they just learnt about or the agent is having a bad day. If you argue with them you could trigger a major search and miss a flight as a result. Ask them, print out the response but if your TSA agent says otherwise shrug your shoulders, let it go and keep moving.
Awesome tips, as usual. And as a flight attendant I have to say thanks for pointing out how busy we are at points of the flight. I want to provide the best service, but there are times I cant focus on one guest when ensuring the safety of everyone. The only tip I would sort of disagree with is taking your personal items out of your bag and putting them in the seat back pocket. We regularly find jewelry, cell phones, IDs, Wallace and all sorts of stuff in the seat back pockets. Plus some of those Pockets aren't always secure. On older aircraft some of those pockets may have tears or holes where your personal items might slip through.
I saw that and I think she meant and said personal items such a book or a tablet. Maybe even hand sanitizer or a snack for the flight. Nothing more or important and irrelevant. Unfortunately people often placed important and irrelevant things in those seat backs and they shouldn't. I try to remind everyone with one final announcement when the door opens and hope for the best 😌
Bonnie, people usually put their bags in the overhead compartment near their seats, so you shouldn't have a problem. If there isn't room, just ask the attendant for help. (on a side note, I always watch where people put their bags when I'm up front, just in case a passenger tries to take up space in the front when they're sitting further back. I don't think it's fair! LOL!)
Laurie I have never flown before, but I have been watching your channel and I'm trying to build up enough courage to do it. It is so kind of you to share your words of wisdom. Your RUclips friend Donna.
You should do a video on tips to stay safe from pick pockets. I know its a common problem in big cities, so it would be beneficial to know how you keep your belongings safe when you are out sight seeing.
Love your channel! Not the same old ideas everyone else is throwing out. I need to get with loading the airline’s app, or at least photographing the boarding pass. I agree on pulling out your necessities before putting the smaller carry on under the seat. Research shows that the seat pocket is one of the most bacteria-ridden areas on the plane, so I always carry travel wipes and wipe down all surfaces (buttons, food tray, armrests touch screens, and around the outer and inner edge of the pocket). Then I have my device, glasses, book, etc. in a large ziploc bag and tuck that into the pocket. That way my hands never touch the grotty inside of the pocket. Super idea with the blue tape...not much is more frustrating than having to hold a cord just so into a port for ages. Finally, I carry a hoodie AND a wide pashmina or scarf. That way I can be extra warm, or roll up the pashmina and use it for lumbar support on long (6 hours plus) flights. The pashmina also can double as a blanket. Thanks for another terrific video. 💕
Leaving for Mexico next week and since I haven’t traveled in an airplane since post 9/11 I feel like a brand new flyer, therefore I’m watching all your videos and taking notes all this week!!! Lol Great video as always.... Love Nathan BTW ( I’m partial to black cats ) 💕
Hi Laurie, I'm traveling over the pond for the first time after 11 years, going solo. Your videos have been enormously helpful. You are so great. Love your accent. Keep up the great work. Hugs!
Gotta say I always freeze on the plane no matter what the season I'm flying. I can't remember the last time I wore a skirt on a plane. LOL. With the blue strip of tape, do you just fold the sticky sides together? That's what it looked like in the video. Love your ideas! I'm going to try the travel hammock on my trip to Ireland in the fall. Thanks a bunch!
I love your videos. I'm glad you mentioned the foot hammock. I'm 4' 7" and have an 11 hour flight coming up later this year. I get leg pain from my feet just dangling so I am going to get one. I was also worried about it bothering the person in front of me. I definitely wouldn't want to make someone else uncomfortable for my comfort.
We will be flying to Alaska next yr. Going United, which we’ve never flown on before. United has a smaller personal item requirement and it’s driving me crazy because I carry a backpack. But most backpacks are larger than United size for personal item 9x10x17 where Delta is 8x14x18. Most are 1/2 larger, 17.5”, will that matter???? How picky or STRICT are the rules? I bought a Jansport half pint but it is only 4x9.8x11.2 “ and am afraid it will not hold what I need for my personal PLEASE help
United is not picky at all about under the seat bags especially if it's a backpack or small duffel like this striped one. Have such a great trip! What a beautiful state! Thanks for watching!
I’m taking a 12 hour flight on an Airbus A340-300. It has 8 seats across. My seat is #38 in middle of plane, across from WC, and an exit aisle behind my row. Are those the seats that don’t recline back? What can I do to help be more comfortable if I can’t change my seat?
My last visit to Illinois my boyfriend gave me a solar powered power bank and as long as it's bright and sunny it does not need to be in direct sunlight. It's a lifesaver when you can't charge your phone right away.but charges it it pretty quickly also.
Do you have a hack for a water bottle holder on the plane? Many times it doesn’t fit in the seat pocket (which is so germy anyway). Mine usually ends up on the floor and sometimes rolls where it shouldn’t be.
Hi Laurie. Love your videos. Travelling to Carolina Beach for the month of March. Do you recommend travel insurance? Delta offers one but just not sure. Thanks.
I do not for domestic. I would do it for a cruise for sure though. But many people do it. You have to make the decision. I've been to CB; so cozy of a town! Thank you for watching!
I love your tips, you really take your own advice so I know its a good tip. You should do a video on how to cross over from san diego to tijuana airport via CBX or cross boarder express. The only place in the world where two countries have one airport. Ths soo easy and I think your viewers will like it, greatings from Guadalajara Mexico.
thank you for all your information
My pleasure!
Very good tip bout last minute baggage claim, in putting nonessential or not needed items in that bag.
Yes!
I've read that the pocket on the seat in front of you is extremely germy so I never use it. I also never recline my seat so I don't crowd the person behind me.
You could take an antibacterial wipe for it. I recline b/c it's my right. People know it will be tight.
For the loose outlet, you can very carefully bend the prongs together, it will stay a lot better
Love that you use the word "respectful" so often.🙏

On another of your videos (couldn't find it) you said to never get a layover of...less than an hour..? I have one! I got my flight on Expedia.com. what do you suggest I do?
Are the 737 max back in the air
I can answer that. No, SW isn't using their Max planes yet. I believe it's going to be a couple of months or so before they'll return.
Ok thanks
@@k-Did You're welcome.
Yay!!! I love cats too. I knew I liked you! Great tips today.
Ha! Thanks for watching.
Jackie Young So many things! You sound like you know how to pack!! Thanks for watching; here’s the shirt: rstyle.me/cz-n/dks9w9ckgqp
You were the same person that told us dont carry my cricket bat thank you because i saw someone who took a bat with him and the security took it im glad i watch your videos also can i get a shoutout
No!!!! Oh, I'm so glad! Thanks for watching.
Great video, new subscriber from UK. Question, I have an upcoming flight to Las Vegas via Houston and only have 1.15 hr layover...is this enough time ? Thanks!!🙂
It depends if your flight is delayed getting to Houston. Wave to me as you are here. Thank you for watching! Have a lovely trip!
Huh, that's odd. Thank you for watching.
I ALWAYS open coffee creamers away from me, even if I'm not on a plane. They always spit for me, which is why I HATE them.
They sure do, Laura. Thank you for watching!
Yass 😁
Hello Laurie! And Nathan!! I am a black cat mom, too!
AWWWWW!
Great video!! We have the same wallet lol!
Yay team! Thanks for watching!
Tomorrow
Who takes care of Mason when you travel?
A neighbor; I miss him before I even start packing. Thanks for watching.
“Smooshing the face against the seat back trying to dig stuff out of your handbag” 😂 been there, done that. So right. Gotta get some blue tape. Excellent idea.
hi my name is Marilyn I'm traveling tomorrow just wanted to know can I take baby powder in a can in my bag
Love your vedios❤️
Any tips for travelling with pets in cabin 🐶??
I have a video for that: bit.ly/FlyWithDog
I take a plastic bag for each leg of my flight to line the seat-back pocket, because those pockets are filthy.
Great idea!
Good to know. Thanks for watching.
Steven, how often do the overhead bins get full? I'm in row 7 so nervous now that they will be full and I'll have to check the bag
Donna Hutchinson Miss Donna once you try travel, you won’t want to stop.
I highly recommend taking the leap.
Best of luck🤗
I have a video about 7 tips for your first flight. Thanks for watching.
Flying is fun - and addictive! try it, you may find you like it...
You should do a video on tips to stay safe from pick pockets. I know its a common problem in big cities, so it would be beneficial to know how you keep your belongings safe when you are out sight seeing.
Thanks for watching! I do have one on 9 Travel Safety Tips. I'll think.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching.
tip: pick your seat when you get your flight online, that way you have a seat. That's what my dad helped me do, when I flew last summer.
Guess who is going to Guatemala this weekend???
How did it go?
Hi Laurie, I'm traveling over the pond for the first time after 11 years, going solo. Your videos have been enormously helpful. You are so great. Love your accent. Keep up the great work. Hugs!
Yay I'm so happy for you!
Your cat is so adorbs!! Thanks for the tips!
Thanks for watching.
Yes Theresa. It's by the paint section at Home Depot. Thanks for watching.
aka Painters tape.
We just got back and we stayed in a hotel that had loose outlets. I could hear you in my head suggesting the blue tape for this purpose! LOL
Hahaha so frustrating, right? Thank you for watching.
Thank you for watching!
Love your practical tips!
Thanks for watching.
Laurie, thank you! You reminded me of three things I hadn't yet placed on my carry-on backpack list for our upcoming trip. Helpful video, once again!
Hi! I am a brand new subscriber and loving your videos!!!!
Thanks for watching!
Awesome always something different and good
Thank you for watching! I appreciate your kind words.
I would call or look up that plane on their site. You may want to change seats....they may charge you though.
My last visit to Illinois my boyfriend gave me a solar powered power bank and as long as it's bright and sunny it does not need to be in direct sunlight. It's a lifesaver when you can't charge your phone right away.but charges it it pretty quickly also.
Wow, someone always things of something. Thank you Melissa!
I never heard of a foot hammock! I'm short and always put my feet on my personal item to avoid my feet hanging there.
Yes it's great and does not shake the seat in front of you.
I wasn’t a subscriber when I watched this. But after I saw Nathan, I’m a subscriber now!
He says ugh.
Do you have a hack for a water bottle holder on the plane? Many times it doesn’t fit in the seat pocket (which is so germy anyway). Mine usually ends up on the floor and sometimes rolls where it shouldn’t be.
Ooh, good question. I usually take an empty one from home that is a little skinny. Sorry. Thank you for watching!
Cute cat nathan is so cute
Howdy, I must say that I really enjoy your Travel Tips. Hopefully I'll be going back to Europe soon & these videos are an exciting addition!
Us too!!
I’ve had bags gate checked before, but they always had them waiting at the gate for me.
That is wonderful.
Ooh, I'm intrigued. Thank you for watching!
