WIC has been around for a very long time. I used it with my oldest daughter who is now 29 years old. I was a young broke 19 year old college student with a small infant. Oh course I finished college, got a good federal job and never had to use it again. However it was there when I needed it. It's a good program for people in short term need, as long as it's not being abused.
Same. I have a 17 month old and one on the way and my husband is busting his butt working the frontlines as a first responder and it just doesn’t pay enough. So blessed to be able to feed our family while he works on getting his education to go up in his job.
When I got WIC for our family we had those big cards with the items listed that we could get. It was so embarrassing because we’d get in line at the grocery store and people would look at us like we were dogs. I’m glad things have changed.
I remember trying to use it. I was so humiliated that I broke down crying because my husband mixed in a few other items and they had to call a manager to override the transaction. We had our five year old with us and I was 7 months pregnant. It was our first time using it and we didn't know what we were doing. He went without me from then on because it didn't bother him at all but I wanted to die. People were much more judgemental back then. All you could get were peanut butter, dried beans, canned juicy juice etc. No fresh fruit or vegetables. I'm happy you get that now for children because fresh is important.
I still the big voucher in GA. And I tell you what, I used them for my newborn and myself for formula ,a cart full of food and nine cans of formula. This has been a very hard year. And became a single mom of 3 after separating from my husband. I'm not on food stamps but all I can do is back up my groceries thinking look at God. There was no shame in me I was truly grateful
have you ever tried to look into having a career as a social worker , or Counciling Youth Anything in that nature I think you would make an awesome Manager or social worker. 😍 loved the video
WIC is so helpful... I received WIC as well when my two children was younger...I worked and paid taxes... I’m blessed that I was able to continue to work during this pandemic because I’m on the frontline as a medical worker but to those who have small children and need a little help apply for WIC and any Assistance you may need... at first I thought Donald Trump was trying to cancel the WIC program for the mothers that need it and also the baby daycare centers but I'm glad they didn't cancel the WIC program, I'm not sure if they canceled the daycare program

Instead my granddaughter is bounced around to 4 different houses evey week so that the people in our family who work days can watch the baby while my daughter pulls a swing. Things could be worse, and its working but I worry because toddlers need routine. Try getting four different households on the same page ever!

I miss the days when my kids were little and receiving WIC. They did not not give us tuna and half of the the items that you have though, and our cereal was restricted. The only good cereal that was allowed back then was King Vitamin. Times have certainly changed. Does anyone remember that government cheese and butter? I must say that was some good stuff, we used to call it "Reagan Cheese" in the hood because it was during the Reagan era when he was president and that was the only thing free that he gave to us back then.

In Mississippi we had a wic warehouse! Very simple because everything was wic ! I moved to Georgia and the lady gave me checks I didn’t know how to use ! I gave up on it with my 8yr old but my 2yr old I’ve learned how to use it!
It’s been almost 7 years since I’ve had a baby. I’m now 36 weeks pregnant with my 3rd and final and my state switched to the card. I love how easy it is and how I don’t have to get everything all at once like the paper checks
Yes, I hated that part. I literally would have to buy milk and then dump it down the drain sometimes because I didn't have room for all that milk at one time and we're not a big milk-drinking family. And you're *legally* not supposed to give any of your WIC products away, so what do you do?

Thank you! I had no idea how to go about this. I get anxiety in these types of situations I guess from childhood trauma maybe but I've been getting food stamps and whenever any complications would arise I'd get so embarrassed 😳. I know there's nothing to feel ashamed about its just I hate holding up the line lol just had my baby 3 months ago and wic seems to be a bit more complicated so I've had anxiety about using it for anything other than the baby formula :/ social anxiety is the worst lol but I would love to see a full haul video explaining what's allowed and such please only if you can
Lucky Charms And cinnamon toast crunch on WIC?? 😳 that’s awesome. My mom raised 3 kids on wic, it was a great help. I remember the closest thing to sugary cereal the program ( in IL)allowed us to get was Kaboom 🤡. Anybody remember that cereal? 😂. EDit: just saw that BoGO thing attached to the wic lol ok that makes sense now. Damn wished I would’ve known that growing up lol
I don't think you could do it back in the day because you had to do only WIC On the transactions and you would miss out on these deals. But now that you can run WCI and non-WIC together, I think it's great! Why not let people use the deal and save money like people paying with cash or credit? Kids eat, and they eat A LOT, so a few extra boxes of cereal can really stretch those food dollars!

I come from a working poor family and, as a child, my parents utilized WIC, AFDC (now gone), food stamps, and public housing assistance (housing vouchers mainly) to get by. Seeing this video and this channel is so affirming and validating because we can see you working with what you have to the best of your ability the same way my parents did. Love it and wish nothing but peace and prosperity for you and your loved ones.
You're savvy with this. My first time on WIC 3 years ago was ok. But we couldn't get fruits and vegetables. It recently changed and they also did away with those pesky checks finally! I didn't know you could take advantage of bogo or coupons. Thanks for this, lovely 💓
Two years ago when I was pregnant I experienced having to use those many WIC “coupons” and the transactions were such a hassle. The card made life so so so easier lol

I wish you were around & doing RUclips videos 27 years ago when I was raising my son! Oh wait! NO INTERNET THUS NO RUclips! WIC back in the early 90's was completely different! They delivered your food and left it at your door.....so, if you weren't awake or you're at work, the food would sit there, unrefrigerated & unsupervised until you wake up or get home from work! I lived in a shady area (cheap rent) and had some neighbors who would help themselves to my WIC! I recently FINALLY got approved for disability. Of course, my rent went up & my food stamps went down....majorly down. It ended up being $16/month! My caseworker told me to apply for them anyways even though I thought it a waste of my time. Am I glad that I listened to her! Once Covid hit, they've been giving us $339 + my monthly $16! So extremely helpful! I have been real careful with these stamps because I know any month now, they could stop. I use $200 (my original amt. I use to get) for my daughter & my monthly food ($50/week) and use the remaining $155 to stock up our pantry & freezer in case of another outbreak. Kroger has free pick-up and my son picks it up for us once a week. Someone stole my van (25 year old Dodge Caravan!) to steal tires with rims! The asshole totaled it! Insurance did not cover the loss because a 25 year old minivan is worthless in their eyes! I LOVED that van! And being disabled, that van was my freedom & my legs! Finally got disability, my van gets stolen, my rent DOUBLES, go from $189/month food stamps to $16 AND THEN friggin Covid shows up & because I have a compromised immune system, I've been in quarantine for the past 147 days! I have been to the Dr.s once and to get my INR checked twice but they do that while you're sitting in the taxi! Stick your hand out the window to get your finger pricked! Other than that, I only go as far as my front stoop for an hour or so a day! So frustrated! Sorry this is so long! I appreciate you, Miss. Peach! So much! I became pregnant my last year of college, chose to have & keep my child, got married before my son was born, worked 2 jobs my entire pregnancy, PAID for my hospital bills with insurance I PAID FOR thru my job & went back to work after 6 week maternity leave. Even though I had a job, paid for medical insurance & my husband worked as well, money was tight! I had to pay for full-time daycare because my son was under 2, which, back then, cost $150/week! $600/month! Plus paying for family health insurance $101/month, rent was $350 (1993 prices), car insurance (we only had 1 car), I literally had $0 after all those bills were paid! My husband's paycheck went towards utilities, gas, co-pays, prescriptions & car payment. Less than $50 left to feed us 2 & baby! YOU TELL ME, SALLY, HOW ELSE WE WERE TO SURVIVE? I had been paying into the system for almost 10 years, my husband as well. My parents had been paying into the system as well for decades! So, miss BITCH, when you need help, you get help! You must lead such a charmed life to pass judgment on me! WIC & FOODSTAMPS BOTH ENCOURAGE YOU TO SHOP SALES & USE COUPONS! I stretched what we got until it SQUEEKED! I believe in KARMA, SALLY! When my daughter was 2 ,single mom when she was 2, they never offered me wic even though I got food stamps and didn't make much money. Sadly. This was years ago she's now 23. Great they offer you that now. I wish. Would have made a huge difference for me.

Yeah thats the pain of the associate not giving you the receipt that prints off prior to you selecting “yes” on the amount for the wic, i always tell them to let me look at it in case something doesnt come off, i can have them take it off without voiding the whole transaction.

Wow that's so cool that you have WIC. Here in the UK we get x4 vouchers a month only can use it on fresh fruit veg or milk and it's only £12.40 equivalent to $15!
Yall wic is so different then ours in texas if you have a Kroger you can use you wic on the speed $40 get $10 Kroger all you have to do is get 30 worth of wic baby food or formula and $10 of wipes or what ever other baby items are included on the sell and pay with your wic since wic doesn't see the 10 off as a coupon on your get the other items for free

@@PeachMcIntyre, So what day does your benefits start? I see you can pick up until 7-27-2020. I ask so many questions because I used to be a cashier at Wal-Mart. And so many young mothers' wouldn't prioritize their groceries. I would always ask them to put any items that was being price matched at the back of the transaction. So I could concentrate on scanning first. And if you are a little bit short of cash I would try to help them out. But of course there was always a scammer. 😉😉

I had WIC in Arkansas and they just switched in the last year or so. Now we live in KS. The card is so much better because you don't have to get everything at once. Before, you had to time it right because the milk check might be the one with the juice and cereal, which you really need, but then your tuna and milk and cheese was on another one, and then you need bread and cheese to make sandwiches, but bread and cheese ar eon different checks. And so much milk. We can't go through 2 gallons a week, just not big milk drinkers. And you have to get EVERYTHING on the list, whether you really needed it or not. Literally, I was told to buy it and dump it out but I HAD to get it. So glad for the card... And that big a$$ folder you had to lug around because they had to check your signature. I even had someone asked for my ID once to compare my signature to my folder and my voucher. Ugh...so glad we have the cards now.

Girl, back in the day WIC used to be so complicated and annoying. I’m talking over 20 years ago. There was no cards, we had physical checks with the items listed on them. It was a mess and took forever to process at the store. This was in Connecticut btw.

Government cheese was the best! I don’t even like cheese but I would eat that, huge blocks my mom would come home with.
We had to be in line early cuz if we too far back in line they’d run out before they got to us.

In Mississippi we had a wic warehouse! Very simple because everything was wic ! I moved to Georgia and the lady gave me checks I didn’t know how to use ! I gave up on it with my 8yr old but my 2yr old I’ve learned how to use it!

Yes, I hated that part. I literally would have to buy milk and then dump it down the drain sometimes because I didn't have room for all that milk at one time and we're not a big milk-drinking family. And you're *legally* not supposed to give any of your WIC products away, so what do you do?

You can go to CVS/WALGREEN'S, they have BOGO on cereal some times. ANY WHERE WIC is taken, check those sales.
Keoger isn't like publix here in Houston. Try Joe V's or Food Town. It's similar
Publix is only good for buy one get one deals other wise there prices are far more higher then Walmart.

I get anxiety in these types of situations I guess from childhood trauma maybe but I've been getting food stamps and whenever any complications would arise I'd get so embarrassed 😳. I know there's nothing to feel ashamed about its just I hate holding up the line lol just had my baby 3 months ago and wic seems to be a bit more complicated so I've had anxiety about using it for anything other than the baby formula :/ social anxiety is the worst lol but I would love to see a full haul video explaining what's allowed and such please only if you can

Lucky Charms And cinnamon toast crunch on WIC?? 😳 that’s awesome. My mom raised 3 kids on wic, it was a great help. I remember the closest thing to sugary cereal the program ( in IL)allowed us to get was Kaboom 🤡. Anybody remember that cereal? 😂. EDit: just saw that BoGO thing attached to the wic lol ok that makes sense now. Damn wished I would’ve known that growing up lol
I don't think you could do it back in the day because you had to do only WIC On the transactions and you would miss out on these deals. But now that you can run WCI and non-WIC together, I think it's great! Why not let people use the deal and save money like people paying with cash or credit? Kids eat, and they eat A LOT, so a few extra boxes of cereal can really stretch those food dollars!
I’m currently 7 months pregnant and I can’t get that stuff with my wic I can get juice and all that stuff but no lucky charms or anything like that. All just kix cheerios and crap.
I come from a working poor family and, as a child, my parents utilized WIC, AFDC (now gone), food stamps, and public housing assistance (housing vouchers mainly) to get by. Seeing this video and this channel is so affirming and validating because we can see you working with what you have to the best of your ability the same way my parents did. Love it and wish nothing but peace and prosperity for you and your loved ones.

You're savvy with this. My first time on WIC 3 years ago was ok. But we couldn't get fruits and vegetables. It recently changed and they also did away with those pesky checks finally! I didn't know you could take advantage of bogo or coupons. Thanks for this, lovely 💓

I wish you were around & doing RUclips videos 27 years ago when I was raising my son! Oh wait! NO INTERNET THUS NO RUclips! WIC back in the early 90's was completely different! They delivered your food and left it at your door.....so, if you weren't awake or you're at work, the food would sit there, unrefrigerated & unsupervised until you wake up or get home from work! I lived in a shady area (cheap rent) and had some neighbors who would help themselves to my WIC! I recently FINALLY got approved for disability. Of course, my rent went up & my food stamps went down....majorly down. It ended up being $16/month! My caseworker told me to apply for them anyways even though I thought it a waste of my time. Am I glad that I listened to her! Once Covid hit, they've been giving us $339 + my monthly $16! So extremely helpful! I have been real careful with these stamps because I know any month now, they could stop. I use $200 (my original amt. I use to get) for my daughter & my monthly food ($50/week) and use the remaining $155 to stock up our pantry & freezer in case of another outbreak. Kroger has free pick-up and my son picks it up for us once a week. Someone stole my van (25 year old Dodge Caravan!) to steal tires with rims! The asshole totaled it! Insurance did not cover the loss because a 25 year old minivan is worthless in their eyes! I LOVED that van! And being disabled, that van was my freedom & my legs! Finally got disability, my van gets stolen, my rent DOUBLES, go from $189/month food stamps to $16 AND THEN friggin Covid shows up & because I have a compromised immune system, I've been in quarantine for the past 147 days! I have been to the Dr.s once and to get my INR checked twice but they do that while you're sitting in the taxi! Stick your hand out the window to get your finger pricked! Other than that, I only go as far as my front stoop for an hour or so a day! So frustrated! Sorry this is so long! I appreciate you, Miss. Peach! So much! NOT using & abusing! I started working at 15, had 3 jobs while in h.s., 2 while in college. I became pregnant my last year of college, chose to have & keep my child, got married before my son was born, worked 2 jobs my entire pregnancy, PAID for my hospital bills with insurance I PAID FOR thru my job & went back to work after 6 week maternity leave. Even though I had a job, paid for medical insurance & my husband worked as well, money was tight! I had to pay for full-time daycare because my son was under 2, which, back then, cost $150/week! $600/month! Plus paying for family health insurance $101/month, rent was $350 (1993 prices), car insurance (we only had 1 car), I literally had $0 after all those bills were paid! My husband's paycheck went towards utilities, gas, co-pays, prescriptions & car payment. Less than $50 left to feed us 2 & baby! YOU TELL ME, SALLY, HOW ELSE WE WERE TO SURVIVE? I had been paying into the system for almost 10 years, my husband as well. My parents had been paying into the system as well for decades! So, miss BITCH, when you need help, you get help! You must lead such a charmed life to pass judgment on me! WIC & FOODSTAMPS BOTH ENCOURAGE YOU TO SHOP SALES & USE COUPONS! I stretched what we got until it SQUEEKED! I believe in KARMA, SALLY! You might want to get off your HIGH HORSE, GET THAT STICK OUT OF YOUR BUTT & THANK GOD EVERYDAY that you don't need the help! However, if you ever do, the help is available to you as well! When my daughter was 2 ,single mom when she was 2, they never offered me wic even though I got food stamps and didn't make much money. Sadly. This was years ago she's now 23. Great they offer you that now. I wish. Would have made a huge difference for me.

Yall wic is so different then ours in texas if you have a Kroger you can use you wic on the speed $40 get $10 Kroger all you have to do is get 30 worth of wic baby food or formula and $10 of wipes or what ever other baby items are included on the sell and pay with your wic since wic doesn't see the 10 off as a coupon on your get the other items for free

So what day does your benefits start? I see you can pick up until 7-27-2020.
I ask so many questions because I used to be a cashier at Wal-Mart. And so many young mothers' wouldn't prioritize their groceries. I would always ask them to put any items that was being price matched at the back of the transaction.
So I could concentrate on scanning first. And if you are a little bit short of cash I would try to help them out. But of course there was always a scammer.

I had WIC in Arkansas and they just switched in the last year or so. Now we live in KS. The card is so much better because you don't have to get everything at once. Before, you had to time it right because the milk check might be the one with the juice and cereal, which you really need, but then your tuna and milk and cheese was on another one, and then you need bread and cheese to make sandwiches, but bread and cheese ar eon different checks. And so much milk. We can't go through 2 gallons a week, just not big milk drinkers. And you have to get EVERYTHING on the list, whether you really needed it or not. Literally, I was told to buy it and dump it out but I HAD to get it. So glad for the card... And that big a$$ folder you had to lug around because they had to check your signature. I even had someone asked for my ID once to compare my signature to my folder and my voucher. Ugh...so glad we have the cards now.

Girl, back in the day WIC used to be so complicated and annoying. I’m talking over 20 years ago. There was no cards, we had physical checks with the items listed on them. It was a mess and took forever to process at the store. This was in Connecticut btw.
