Diane, This was wonderful! I absolutely enjoyed watching you paint this beautiful piece! I’m definitely going to give it a try, but possibly on a bit of a smaller scale. I think I’ll attempt five pots to begin with!!! Thank you! THANK YOU ♥️‼️ You are so very wonderful and dear🥰
Dear Dianne, 60,000 subscribers! What a credit to you. You have admirers and long distance painting friends all over the world who look forward to your charming conversations and delightful paintings. I hope you feel validated and cherished🇨🇦
I was recently gifted a box of Kuretake paints and haven’t used them yet. May I say that painting along with you or just watching you and listening to your friendly chit chat is so much fun . I feel that I have a friend sharing delightful gifts with me. I learn so much from you in a relaxed, non pressure setting. Thanks so much!
Thanks so much Barbara, that's very kind of you to say and I'm so glad you enjoy the videos so much, it means a great deal to me. I do recommend you give the Kuretakes a whirl, they are quite liberating because the colors are all harmonious, it seems to me, you can't go far wrong. A big difference from the traditional paint set which takes more skill to use. (Not that I'm giving up my trad set, but this is a relaxing alternative!) All the best and thanks again xxx
Circledom! LOL Love it-you crack me up, Diane. So fun watching your painting change and develop and listening to your comfortable talking. XOXOJANE Oh, I have the same book, 365 Days of Art in Nature. Love mine.
Wow! I loved this thing from the minute I saw it! I bet I watched it half a dozen times before I sketched it and picked up the brush… and then another half a dozen while I was painting it. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. This was so much fun! Thank you for everything you do. 😊
Diane these pots and plants are so cute! The colors are incredibly vibrant and I just love how you added some depth to them by layering different shades of color. What a lovely and relaxing video! Thank you.
Love this one ! I just ordered the book and next week I'm going to get the kuretake paint set....not that I need more paints 🤣, but this looks like a good set-up, plus I'd like to be able to paint light over dark. No one ever told me this was such an addictive hobby !
I love this!! I stumbled on your channel by mere chance!! I struggle to know what to paint, this was pure inspiration!! Thank you!! I look forward to seeing more of your watercolor paintings!!
You are a marvel, Diane! The way you "go for it" and share your thoughts as you go is inspiring and makes painting seem less intimidating. This painting is charming; I love the choice and vibrancy of the colors. When you were trying to think of a design for the red pot, I said aloud, "open circles," and then you said the same thing. What you ended up doing on that pot blended better with the other pots' designs than the open circles would have done. I do no know, but I think you may have been trying to think of the word variegated to describe the leaves that have varied colors. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
😅 rescue operation! Lol .. love it. This is so beautiful, thank goodness for opaque paints, I think that makes things easier 😊 . Thanks Diane for another fun and relaxing tutorial. And congratulations again on your channel, there will be many many more to follow.
I absolutely love these paints and as seen in your wonderful painting, the vibrancy of the paint remains when they dry. Thank you for another wonderful tutorial. Oh and Gansai tambi apparently means vibrance aesthetic :D
I agree with you about Amazon. Always get it and no mistakes. I ordered from Jackson's and I live in Florida USA and I never got the merchandise and they put the wrong ZIP code it went to Texas. They really did not want to get my money back I had to call my credit card company to research it and they got my money back. So that's the end of my ordering from anyone besides Amazon or someone in the United States.
🎨 ♥️ 🎨 Love this DiAnne !! Hoping to get back soon to watercolor painting. Covid has me just wanting too but I am so enjoying watching you and can’t wait ❣️ Much love from Tennessee sweet lady !!
I am intrigued with the Kuretake paints you have been using. May have to make the investment. This a wonderful painting of potted plants. Will be doing this later today. Thanks 😊 for another great idea.
Thanks Teresa, glad you like it, it could be done in so many different colors and plants and pots - the Kuretake paints are much better at covering other colors than my traditional watercolors, so they really come into their element with a painting like this. I think they are a great addition to the artists kit xxx
I love watching and listening to you I have tried many of your paintings failed and am redoing them. They are so fun I can't figure out how to get the patterns.
We use Amazon quite a bit.. Our rule is if you can't find something anywhere you can bet you'll find it on Amazon.. Once we were putting knobs on our cabinets and we were ONE short! They were discontinued at the store, couldn't find it anywhere... went on Amazon and there it was!!! The craftstores here generally carry the same stuff all the time and rarely change things up so often i look for something unique online.... and often end up on Amazon.. i just love your painting Diane and its one i definitely intend to tackle.. The Kuretake set looks wonderful but unfortunately me putting out $50 for paint is pretty slim chance..lol I will keep it on my wish list though... Christmas is coming...lol Hugs! deb
Yes, you can rely on them generally having whatever you need. We used to rely on Ebay but that seems to have changed recently. Hope Santa brings you the paints this Christmas!
Beautiful!! I have a suggestion about porcelain/ceramic palettes. I taped duct tape to the bottoms of mine, so they do not clank around and scratch each other, or scratch the table, or make that awful noise, The duct tape holds up to washing, too.
Great idea! I will do that asap!!! I never think of these things until after I've started the video! But I will definitely do what you suggest! Thanks Jodi!
Absolutely love your videos. I am colour blind but find your tutorials easy to follow and my art has improved immenselyand I am much more relaxed but I still have to get the wife to check if I have got the colour right.I can identify different tones so maybe a tonal exercise/video please?
I ordered kuretake watercolor set but I didn't know if they were good paints or not. Hair color seem very vibrant and pretty and I have painted things for my great-grandson with them. I'd like to know what you think them.
Luv how you popped in gouache with the watercolour. More tutorials on mixing the two mediums would be great. Sorry you are on a restricted diet, that is not fun. Hopefully you figure things out soon.
I can mix with pH White?! Even if I could mix with my kuretake..or maybe my Marie’s? One of my traditional Chinese Brush painting tutors..an older artist..I thought she was going to have a heart attack when I asked if I could mix it..even just a tiny bit, with my new Chinese pigments. I adore this lady, but if you’ve had the wonderful honor of having quite a few Chinese friends, you learn quickly that you don’t mess with Chinese grandmas! My incredible late Son spent 12 years working in and traveling through China. He called me one morning, still upset..After installing solar panels for some rural farmers on the border with Vietnam, he thought it would be nice to invite the families to join him and his friends, at a nice restaurant in a nearby city. He asked a young lady, a few years younger than him..but something went wrong in the translation. He called and exclaimed how happy he was that they don’t have guns in rural households in China..and then warned me that although I’m just about 15yrs younger than my elder first tutor, Lili, be VERY careful about my language! He had been literally, run off the farm by the young lady’s 75yr old grandmother..they thought he was inviting her out for a VERY improper, night of debauchery..with just him. 😂. He said she was waving what looked like a long machete, screaming in a dialect he didn’t understand, and she almost caught up with him. At least they are all set up with solar power! 😁 Now..BACK to that wonderful pH White..I promise I won’t tell my tutor, just between us..can I use it for mixing with most paints?
Oh boy, what a story! Yes, you can mix Dr. Ph Martin's bleedproof white with your watercolors, or you can use white Designers Gouache from Winsor and Newton or Daniel Smith xxx

Glad to see you this morning. I have been thinking about you and your family with all the wildfires in France. Stay safe.
Thanks so much for your concern! No problems here of that kind.
Yesterday RUclips was very slow and we couldn’t get the video up until today!
Love the addition of the cactus. It’s called a Prickly Pear. Love all your work. 💙🌵🌵🌵
I can’t decide which is my favorite piece yet. This could be it! Your are such a good teacher, thank you. I refer to you as my friend in France.

This is fun! Deserves to be framed.
Maybe I will! Thanks Diane!
These paints are really expensive in the UK. Totally unaffordable, sadly! Your work is beautiful ❤️
Hi Madeleine, the set of 36 is £39 on amazon.co.uk.
Love those plants! You make it look so easy.

You should, yes, it's a bit of a twist on the normal watercolor process but it works!
Fabulous! Love this one as well!
