I just want to say, I used to be scared of this deck and now I looove the Deviant Moon tarot! it's one of my favourites. Don't be fooled by it's "spikey" appearance, it's a really supportive deck and it does it with a sense of humour and a wink. (I don't have the big book, so I also use it intuitively)
This is how im feeling and trying to decide if I want to get it. I’m trying to remind myself I can always give it away and I’m a healer so I can always clear it away! 🧿
I’ll always love Deviant Moon ❤. I have soooo many of his decks and in different colors. I enjoy when you share what the cards mean to you. That’s the best. And your mods are always fun 🤩
Deviant Moon is is in my top 7. The landscape deck feels like home ( I'm frm New York). I love the way it portrays the shadow of the arcanas. I love how this deck guides me into my own inner landscape to explore my shadows. I feel that the book definitely enhance my understanding of this deck far beyond what the LWB ever could. The author goes into great detail about the artwork the creation process & the meaning of the cards.
No you are not the only one. I have resisted this deck forever and am now coming around to it. Have not watched yet but will be curious of your take. Love your videos and perspectives. Next Lisa's video on this deck.
Yesssss! Love the style of this video and going on this journey with you. I really enjoyed the progression of your experience with this deck, and would definitely like to see more videos where you do this with other decks!
Great video! 👍 I've had this deck for 4 years and I'm still discovering new things in it! The Hermit reminds me of Marilyn Manson in his Mechanical Animals phase🤣
Oh wow, I think this is one of my favorite videos of yours! Absolutely loved seeing your month long journey on how you worked with and bonded with a new deck. And never thought I’d say this, but this deck kinda grew on me! There’s a quiet charm and beauty underneath the freaky weirdness. It made me smile. :). Yes please, more videos of your everyday work would be amazing. Thanks so much for letting us tag along on your Deviant journey this month. :)
I am so glad you enjoyed it and I'm definitely planning on more videos like this. I think it will be a great process for decks I've been struggling with. It's slowly growing on me too, I think it's just going to be a slow burn relationship. But I definitely have a better appreciation for it now! Thank you for watching. ❤️
I don't comment much, but I'm a longtime subscriber and viewer. I loved this vlog style of you taking us with you on your journey of working with a new deck - especially one that you weren't sold on. I was hesitant with this deck as well, but after reading the big book, and understanding Patrick's creating and art style, I fell in love with it.
I am so glad you enjoyed it and I'm definitely looking forward to doing more videos like this. The book seemed to be key for me too, once I got out of my own way with it. 🙂 Thank you so much for your continued support of my channel! ❤️
Phenomenal, Dawn! I absolutely LOVE this progressive type of video. I randomly picked up a paradoxical copy of the Trionfi della Luna, which felt weird at the time because it isn’t my style - but upon receipt it really grabbed me. I now look forward to receiving my own Illustrated Trionfi della Luna and I think I’m going to give the Deviant Moon a try. I am so inspired by what you said: “Get out of your own way.” ❤️
I am so glad you enjoyed it and I'm definitely planning on doing more videos like this. It was a great lesson for me to let things be as they are. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I didn't bond with the DM instantly, it was a process. I always enjoyed the art and it made me laugh, for me a great place to start the bonding process. It is now one of my favorites and a clear and focused reader for me. I don't have the big book, listening to the descriptions from the book I'm tempted. This deck would be among the first I would buy again if anything happened to my decks. I do have the Paradoxical edition, borderless and I grab it before the "regular" deck. I love the colors in it. I really enjoyed watching and listening to your process in getting to know this deck. Would love to see more of this style of video if you enjoyed making it.
It was a really wonderful process and so much fun to be able to share. In definitely looking forward to doing it again with another deck. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Really pleased you did this video on the DM. I have resisted this deck for the longest time, but just snagged a pre owned signed copy... and I don't know why...😮 intrigued I guess? I've heard tge large art book is beautiful and a very well written and intetestingbread. So I think I may get it if I do end up enjoying the deck as much as so many others seem to.
It's very interesting to see your process of connecting with a deck. The book is wonderful to me mainly for understanding the artist's process. It's a deck I got while just learning and delighted in finding art that seemed more interesting to me than traditional RWS yet delivered what I consider RWS type messages with memorable images to help me learn. Glad you grew closer to it, thanks for sharing!
I honestly love this deck! I do not own it personally, but one of my friends does; like you, it's not an art style that would typically speak to me, and yet, there was just something so... intriguing about it. My personal experience with the deck whenever my friend would let me do a reading with it is that it's a very honest deck. There might be some humor and joking in what it's saying, but it will tell you what you need to hear, regardless of whether or not it's really something you want to hear? (hopefully that makes sense) Regardless, I've honestly considered getting my own copy just because of my experiences using my friends copy. Really enjoyed seeing your whole process of how you connect with a deck!
What a great video! I love how you comprehensively take the viewer through your thoughts, interpretations and dealing with this deck. This is so enlightening, interesting and entertaining. You should do this more often. Thank you!
For me, the deck helps with shadow work. Especially truths I’m avoiding or blocking. It’s very gentle though. The Hermit is one of my favorite; I read it as internal shadow work that I’m afraid/uncomfortable to do.
I thoroughly enjoyed this! I loved watching your process and how flexible you are to make the make the deck work for you! I would love to see more you working through a new deck in particular ones that are loved by the masses (I don’t understand why people are in love with the sasurabito tarot.) Thanks as always for sharing!
I am so glad you enjoyed it. I'm definitely hoping to do more of these types of videos, I can certainly look at doing some of the more popular decks. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on the Deviant Moon deck. I really like it. When I do readings for a period of time (ex.: the week ahead), I find the meaning of the cards are not really relevant. It's more about the suits and the general feeling of the cards. In your example, since you drew two cards of swords, I would say you had a challenging week ahead of you. Since one of the cards was the Ace, I'm pretty sure you came out of it successful, with a renewed sense of your inner strength. The Ace really says "Stay true to yourself through the test, and you'll be ok." I also really like how you personalized your deck. It really enhances the "aura" of the cards (if that makes any sense.) I think I'll do something similar. I hope the Deviant Moon deck continues to grow on you, like it did on me.
I have a nine-card spread of my own creation that has served me for years. But it only varies slightly from the spread in this LWB, which I did give a go. But first spread was my own form and it brought exclusively Majors and Swords. I had to stop and reflect on my shuffling but I am an old school card gamer and prone to maybe over shuffling until I am sure of randomness and then that it has my own touch. The message was personal and clear. The second spread was about Minors where my question was a progression from the first question. I definitely felt that this deck and I connected immediately. I prefer the outlandish decks over cutesy, but I’ve got animal oracle decks too so I am flexible. I’m not even a fan of the macabre, but the Moon was my hook and I’ve not been disappointed. I haven’t finished watching yet, you triggered my comment with the 3-card spread, all wands. But the concept of an initial viewing paired with a one month review is good practice in my opinion. I only go to deck reviews once I’ve bought them, so this the first I’ve seen from you. Your candidness serves you well.
Thank you for this great inspiring video. I had this deck once and gave it away, all of my decks actually...didn't touched tarot cards in years. The book brought me back into this abandonded place i loved back then. You inspired me to finally adding the deck back to my collection. The edging turns out wonderful, such warm rich shades of brown. Like an autunm landscape. Looove!
I am so glad you enjoyed it and have been inspired to work with the deck again. I do hope it brings you many wonderful readings. Thank you for watching. ❤️
It's very interesting. I haven't been pulling this deck out but I've brought it out to work with in October (2022) and this video has come up in my "to watch" list (which takes about a year after I add it because my list is very long). So good timing and synchronicity. 😀
I enjoy this deck but I know it isn't for everyone, so I appreciate you taking the time to give it a chance. For me, I really feel drawn into the world of these beings and I see them more as friends (sometimes with a strange sense of humour!) than creepy creatures. Like you, I do feel more drawn to the colors of the Trionfi Della Luna, but I don't often use pip decks, so I look forward to the release of the fully scenic version of the deck. More than anything, I enjoyed watching your deep-dive video and it was great to see how you worked with the cards. Thank you for sharing your process. 😊
I have this deck and really did NOT bond with it at all. UNTIL, I bought the guide book to go with it. The artist/author put SO much thought into every card. Every card has a description of the scene, the meaning both upright and inverted, and how he came up with the design of the card. It gives soooo much more meaning to every card and makes them easier to understand. It's still not my number 1 but I like it so much more now than when I first got it, it's like getting a brand new deck. I still need to spend more time with it but I'm much happier with this deck now.
Ooooh fun! Love this deck - I agree its not the most beautiful deck I've ever seen but there's just something it does that nothing else can do, and somehow I find it so healing and patient with me - it's like it says: "Yes you really fucked up! It's okay that you fucked up, I won't judge you. Here's how you can do better though! 😉 " 💜 those images in the book though, I need to get the big book as a lover of the deck 🤩 Thanks for sharing your experiences - love the edging as well - so much fun! 🙏 Blessings xxx
It was a really interesting experience getting to know it over the past month and I've definitely come away with a new appreciation for it. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I love the weirdness of this deck. I almost didn't get a copy because whenever I would see a spread using the deck I couldn't get a read off of it. But in person it feels very different and I connect better. I haven't used it a ton, but I do have a lot of decks. I have it out now since it's October, I thought it would be a good time to work with it.
I didn't like the deck... but someone gave it to me as a present. I bonded with the deck after a long time. And now I love it. I use it for shadow work. Honest but harsh messages ...
Thanks, Dawn Michelle. I have this deck and I love it, but haven't worked with it. Your approach to learning to work with it is really interesting and sensible. I've learned a lot and will use your approach when trying to learn this deck and others.
Nice to see someone else likes the Lantern Oracle. I use it similarly, draw one and clarify. The symbolism lined up interestingly too, kind of like an additional layer. I mean, a gaping chest wound surrounded by swords. Like, a lot of emotional energy bound up in those repetitive worries; actually working on the wound, the core of it and getting out of your head frees up a lot. The sword is available again, kind of thing. Also just love the way the edging came out.
I am so glad you enjoyed it and I'm planning on doing this again with another deck. It was a really cool experience. I wouldn't say it's a favorite in my collection, but I've definitely developed an appreciation for it. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Now having watched the full video, I think the book is key to help bridge the disconnect I feel with the card images. They are so rich in symbolism and the book insights read like stories. I don’t think the deck alone would work for me but this has been a really good eye opener for me in opening perspective and allowing for new perspectives. Thank you Dawn Michelle.
I literally treated this video like 'dessert' after getting a ton of work done. I was so excited to curl up with you and hear how this deck felt and what your journey was like. I LOVED seeing the way your feelings and impressions shifted thorughout your work with it. I agree with you - I really think this deck 'wants' to be read intuitively - or is just well suited to that kind of work!!! :D I preordered the illustrated Trionfi too. I have the original already LOL. I thought it was interesting hearing you read one of the upright meanings from the big book - I think I realized when you read it that I don't think I ever spent much time with those 'meanings'. Instead, like you, I leaned more into the card descriptions and such :) Can't wait for your monthly wrap up and hearing more about your 'final thoughts' from the month with this deck!!
It was such a fun process and I'm definitely planning on doing it again next month with another deck. It was such a cool process and I've definitely come to a new appreciation for this deck. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I bought the original Deviant Moon when it first came out in 2008 and used it solely for about 5 years. Then picked up the first print run Borderless edition in 2013. The original Borderless Edition has much thicker and more durable cardstock than the current printings and I much prefer the original. The Deviant Moon tarot for me was an incredible deck. Although I rarely use it now, I kept my copies.
That is so cool. I tend to like the cardstock on the older mass market decks better than what most of them produce now as well. Thank you for watching. ❤️
This deck is the only one I have (I've collected over 40) that I feel requires having the larger hardcover book to fully appreciate it. Some of the cards can be confusing or off-putting, but when reading the book's description, they become much more clear. The book is definitely worthwhile for the quality and large photos, and story of the deck. I probably use it more than my regular RWS tarot, though not as much as the Pagan Otherworlds and the Thoth.
😀😀🤣 I am interested to see how this goes! I have the deck and don’t get the hype either! Acquiring his book made all the difference and does help you connect. BTW! I’m the only person who doesn’t get the hype about Light Seers so I know the feeling 😜
Oh no, definitely not the only one who doesn't get the Light Seers. I had the indie and quickly rehomed it. That one was a miss for me. 🙂 Thank you for watching. ❤️
Really enjoyed your journey with the deck, Dawn Michelle, thank you for sharing. Like you, I don't get the Deviant Moon. I have it, though, and I'm fascinated and a little repelled by it. Lisa loves it so much that I have to see what the fuss is about - but I'm also hesitant to start, because it seems like one that calls you out on your crap and I have a lot of crap to be called out on. 🤭
It's was definitely a "Lisa made me do it" too. I know she loves it and I just had to find out why. 🙂 I definitely have a new appreciation for the deck now. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I was hesitating jumping over from what I was doing to proper tarot for the longest time. An old roommate of mine watched me and the results I obtained with cartomancy, and considering she came from generations of wiccans the gift was significant - she gave me my first deck with was the bordered deviant moon
I have had the exact same experience! I have looked through demos of the deck and felt a strong “ew no!” kind of knee jerk response. Something about the vulgarity of the expressions, the color palette, just... I don’t “get it”, but had the same inclination toward the trionfi and ended up buying the illustrated. And ever since... well I have this fringes drumming impatience to get it in my hands and keep thinking ‘well maybe I should get the deviant moon and just try?’ ever since placing the order. Thank you for making this!
Yessss. There you go! As you well know I love love love love this deck. Mostly because it was my first deck to learn to read with. I didn't get the book till much later though. I love how you just happened to purchase the TDL illustrated as well. It was that deck that helped me appreciate and enjoy the Maria De Celia. You'll have Mildred's Secret Pocket oracle next lol.
Lol I might! I think it was after watching your video that you showed your collection of these style of decks that really piqued my interest. It has been a really fun experience! Looking forward to seeing the new illustrated deck. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Thanks for sharing! I did not think I would like this deck, but I love it. I want to get the big book, just for the artist’s take and comments on the art… It reads intuitively for me, almost always, and packs no punches, that’s for sure! Another thing is that every time I use the deck I notice something new within the imagery. In your video I noticed the moon phase on each card, and am now wondering the significance of that, if any?! lol It’s a unique deck and I’m glad I decided to give it a try, too!
You definitely aren’t the only one!! I have not purchased this deck either nor her cousin decks “the beautiful creatures” decks 😂😂😂 I personally think with me it has to do that the artwork (as beautiful as it is) is too creepily-strange and I can’t relate to it in the way I read tarot. I have a similar issue with RWS clones that take away the esoteric elements of the original RWS deck and don’t replace them with their own esoteric elements, i.e., themed decks or movie/show based decks just as an example.
The big book is so awesome and entertaining to learn about his life as a child and how creative and intuitive he was at such a young age. Also, will you please start selling your pouches for cards on Etsy. They are so beautiful. You are a very creative person.
It is a wonderful book for sure. I don't currently have any bags made to sell, but next time I create another batch I'll be sure to post a note. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Yes, love the going into depth and seeing how you work with decks. I have a couple of versions of this deck and haven't worked with it yet. I received them in some trades and wasn't sure about working with it. Now I am interested and actually love some of the cards. I liked the way you did this video, it was great.
I actually do really like the art in this deck and "get it" in general... that said, I just have no interest in getting it. I do like it, but it's like one of those deck where I feel like I enjoy watching other people use this deck... I'm enjoying it from afar, lol. If that makes sense! Now the art book for it... wow! I might consider getting that as a nice coffee-table book!
I totally get that, I do that often myself! I love tarot-tube for that, I can enjoy a variety of decks through other people without feeling the need to purchase them myself. Thank you for watching. ❤️
sorry, I can't do it either.....admire that you are trying! Apart from it being quite repulsive imagery, I don't get anything that draws me in. I have seen readings done with it that work, but it's almost that you have to look away from the whole card image and zoom in on some detail to make it at all palatable.
I could totally see that about this deck. Still can't say it's a favorite, but I've definitely got a new appreciation for it after working with it for the month. Thank you for watching. ❤️
This is one of the top five decks for shadow work and really looking at the parts of yourself that you might not want to. I feel like the people who are afraid of it or intimidated or put off by it are probably blocked in some way or afraid to face the shadow side of themselves. Life isn't all unicorns, cute animals, rainbows, angels, and the moon. Face all of it and handle it and manage it, or deal with tower after tower. At first that is what I used this deck for exclusively, but it's such a great deck for every day and it actually has some really beautiful translations. And if you read the meanings of the cards and the reasons they were created in the way they were, you come to a newer understanding and appreciation for this deck. I bought the book for $35 and when I received it, it didn't seem like such a big purchase at all. He could have charged $50 and got away with it. So again, if you are intimidated by the $35 price tag, it is so worth it and then some! It is almost like a museum. It's beautifully explained and illustrated.
I have resisted it, too, but I like how the Fool has animals that are similar to the first tetrapods that walked on land. I love the thinking behind that, even if it was inadvertent.
I think this deck is wonderful for shadow work, but it also reads very well because, despite its weird looking, it has a sense of cinical humor inside its images.
I don't have this deck but always tempted to buy it for the same reasons as you. At first it creeped me but after seeing it in almost everyone's collections I got over the feeling and now it's just a neutral looking deck for me 😂. Everytime I see this deck my mind goes: “It feels like they're talking in: “rararararara... Ra. Ra? Rarara! 🌚”
I just had to know what all the fuss was about lol. It was a really wonderful experience and I'm glad I got to know it and had the chance to work with it. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Your first 3 card spread was so beautiful! My mom ordered the new deck for my birthday so we will see! I hope I have mine when you get yours! I’m busting out my Deviant Moon now. I also have the Purple Trionfi & looove it so much. It gives me such easy to understand readings…like I get it right away. I was wanting the original color but since this new one is going to be the normal kind of coloring it looks like, I’m happy w/the little collection I have. My son loves playing card decks…I actually ordered Patrick’s playing card Oracle & we both love it! It’s not the same like created beings (friendly demons I call them lol) but how he Incorporated the suits into the images is so cool! I am actually going to order another…I think I saw it on Amazon too. I have a feeling u would like it… okay girl have a beautiful weekend coming up! I’m happy u busted out a long video…something to watch for the day when I get little breaks to myself…🤪
I’m thinking of edging mine in some kind of silver (I have a pack of Ranger pads) might not match tho… but I’m debating about my Purple also! I’ve seen some where someone will edge it the same color as the deck. I don’t know I’m weird about the whole deck being the same color unless black. Maybe silver would look pretty w/purple? Can u tell I really want a silver edged deck? Do u think it’s possible to add silver to the backs? Like change the gold line around the backs of DM to silver some hoe? Hmmm….I’m so 90’s…I want my silver & can’t mix silver & gold! Lol!
I had made my assumption that this deck was not for me. The art was too weird, and I had no interest. Until your video. It opened my eyes to see that actually Patrick Valenza’s art is awesome! It’s beautifully weird, and with the book telling the story of each card, it’s amazing. I’ve ordered it, (and the Trionfi Della Luna pip edition) and I can’t wait to receive them and begin!
I’m at the beginning of this video with you and am soooo enjoying your initial commenary and gut reactions. I’m feeling the same way as you about this deck and am womdering if we’re (you and I) will convince ourselves that we can like and use this deck. I’ll let you know...🧐
Your not the only one!! I just bought the borderless Deviant Moon myself. Had the bordered one didn't get along with it. I too am currently on a get to know you quest with this deck
I love the art in this deck. I have the big book and love it as well. However I did have trouble connecting with it for readings. I connected with the actual art of the deck. Lol ill just be keeping it as a collector deck.
Do these markers smell like Sharpies do? I started edging a deck a few weeks ago but stopped because the smell was awful & it still is 😅 I’d love to find markers that don’t smell awful!
The tombows don’t have a scent that I’ve noticed. I can’t use Sharpie or alcohol markers on my decks, the smell gives me migraines. That could be the source of the smell you don’t care for. Try looking for water-based instead (although sometimes those will transfer off onto your hands for a bit, but it usually stops after awhile.). Hope that helps! 💚
This was a really interesting video, I enjoyed getting to see your deck bonding process. I too tend to personify my decks, the way I look at it is that I am putting my energy into the deck every time I use it. that combined with the creator's intent creates a certain 'personality' at least in my mind. The Deviant Moon is a deck that has never really spoken to me either. I think that at least part of my issues with is (besides finding the artwork unsettling, and not in a good way, at least for me.) is that the illustrations remind me far too much of the children's book The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales by Jon Scieszka (illustrated by Lane Smith).
I feel the same way about my adding my energy to the decks. It was an interesting experience to work on cultivating a connection with this deck throughout the month. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I resisted it for a long time. I only just bought this deck in the last 6 months or so. I have used it only a little, but I do like it. I was thinking about getting the big book, but I'm not sold on it yet. Thank you for sharing your journey so far.
I think for me the big book was key to making a connection to it, but then that cout be because I was pretty resistant to the deck at first. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I enjoyed seeing your card pulls and interpretations in this video, such as your intuitive interpretation on the Nine of Swords versus the Ace of Swords, and your other thoughts on the "getting to know you" type spreads. This is not meant as an attack on the art, but for me the core emotion it elicits is disgust, which I just can't do throughout a whole deck (Katey Flowers recently did a video choosing cards to represent the different emotions from Disney's "inside out," including disgust which was super interesting.)
Hi again! So the 3 card spread u did w/ the Lantern Oracle…I was getting exactly what u were. Also I was noticing how the decks were like connected…the red from the card on the left & the blue from the right met in the middle w/the Oracle…I was also thinking transmuting. I have been thinking a lot of that for myself too…I have been accepting my wounds (I call them my scars & over the years they get ripped open & have to heal again). I get that shit where the same shit repeats in my head over & over & it could be shit from years ago. Lots of parent guilt…could be a reaction I had when my daughter was in pain…I have what I call “day-mares”. I get like visions (intrusive thoughts?)…Idk but this deck helps me w/ this kind of shit more than others I have. I have really calmed down w/feeling so much guilt & I feel like I’ve been handling depression & anxiety so much better because I’m accepting & not trying to forget. I also talk to my husband now…just let him know what’s happening in my head. This is gonna sound crazy but I’ve had numerous dreams come true…& it’s saved my daughter & it’s also scary. I never know what’s real & what’s going to make me seem crazy. I’m taking seeing a car accident w/ my daughter & it happening almost exactly the same 2 days later. So I think I really got into tarot to get to know myself …know what I need to let go & flow through my mind & what I should stop & take notice of & maybe even take as warnings. This deck makes it easy to feel what I need to pay attention to. It gives me the little rumbles…this feeling I crave where I know I’m connected & receiving exactly what I’m supposed to…nice! You are so beautiful…I hope you realize that always, & I don’t even see you in this video but it’s what I always feel w/ you.
All this to say…the Lantern Oracle has come up so many times this week! At least everyday…this makes me want to order it for sure. I’m so picky w/Oracle decks I hardly use them besides to clarify when I need to. I think The Lantern must have something that will connect & maybe elevate what I’ve been working on w/myself. I need a shadow type deck…again another great find! I know I will usually vibe w/ a deck that you do.
I am so glad you enjoyed it! The Lantern oracle is one of my favorites, it's such a power tool in my collection. Thank you so much for your support and for watching. ❤️
This is the first deck I got, mine looks a bit different. I am having a hard time knowing how to bond with it? Or how to even use Tarot. I am Brand new to Tarot. I spent a good hour looking at my cards. I cried. I felt so whole, yet so connected to death and life. It was weird. I have done a simple Past present and future spread but can’t really read the cards? All help! Thank you for this it was amazing to see you open it and see the cards. I love the deck! But need to know how to use them 😂
I just got this deck for the art. If your just starting I'd suggest starting with a version of the Rider Waite Smith deck. Many hate this deck, but many decks now are based on that one, and most books or info you find on tarot càrds uses that deck as an example.( Id suggest the Universal Waite or the Centennial Smith Waite editions) once you have that foundation, other decks will be easier to work with. There's nothing wrong with having more than one deck. Good luck! 🙂 👍
You definitely need an original Rider weight for reference. Or you can always just Google what the cards are as you go through this deck. But definitely get the original rws! You can find cheap ones for 10 or $12 or if you want to be like me a person that's poor, then just Google the meanings.
It took me awhile to get this deck I picked up a mass market version used for $10 to give it a try. I do struggle with this deck honestly. It works great for me for Full Moon readings that's really all I use it for. Can you recommend any mass market decks that are good for Full Moon readings open to all suggestions.
I think I have a video on my moon decks, maybe in my collections. My go-tos are indie decks, but for mass market, I enjoy the ones with a softer energy for the full moon. Decks like the White Sage Tarot and the Wandering Star. I also think the Intuitive Night Goddess would be an excellent full moon deck. I hope that helps! Thank you for watching. ❤️
It's always interesting to hear your take on a deck, especially one I'm not into! I have an oracle (Mildred Payne's Oracle of Black Enchantment) by the same creator which I have a connection with because of its historical 17th century style artwork. The DM however is really quite repulsive to me! Not for any inner issues on my part, just the artwork! I feel like there is a slightly worrying trend in the tarot world for "needing" to get decks you hate to work out some kind of inner shadow issues.. Why not have decks full of beauty that you love and that you can work with on any issue because you want to gaze at them? Many decks have darker cards within them so it's not all fluff and fairy dust! Thanks for another thought provoking video! 💖
I don't think this would be a deck that I personally would use for "shadow work" although I know some people do. I mostly was just curious as to why so many loved it. 🙂 It's been an interesting experience for sure. Thank you for watching. ❤️
The DM is a deck that never ages. What? You resisted the deck until now? I preordered it with the book back then. I love it. I love it so much in fact. I will post this comment and watch you while sipping tea. I am curious to see how this will goes. The DM is a deck forever 🖤😁
I got this deck recently after years of being drawn to the artwork, but I'm finding it difficult to work with so far. It feels like it should be used for particular kinds of work and insights or at particular times but I haven't pinpointed what those are. It's tough too when there's a card that you just straight disagree with the meaning, like the 3 of swords, trying to find common ground with a deck. I am a bit of a sword apologist lol - I think of the 9 of Swords, yes as anxieties, but also about solitary thought. The 9s echo the hermit to me, they're all solitary figures coming into the fullness of the suit. So for many people having all these thoughts and no one to express them to, that can manifest as worries, but I also think of like solitary work at night, or writing in a journal, or being overflowing with ideas. With that Ace, it's interesting, in another scenario without the guidance of that oracle card, it could mean to pick one of the many thoughts or ideas, narrow your focus so you can take action. I really liked following you on this journey with the deck.
I'm in the same boat with a lot of decks, the Waite-Smith structure doesn't totally align with how I read tarot. Your thoughts on the nines are fantastic, I'm right there with you. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I use it for shadow work and you have to use if intuitively instead of relying on your own understanding of the tarot meaning. I always look at it as its unique tool .. I also love journaling with it because it’s thought provocative
Personally, I don't get the hype around this deck either. I think it's beautiful and unique in it's own special way like any other deck for sure. It's not for me though. I can't get into the art style since it doesn't really fit my aesthetic and something about it just doesn't click? I like admiring it though from afar. One of my friends use this deck and she absolutely loves it because of the type of messages she receives. I think her and the deck work really well together. I love seeing that for others
I think it's so cool how we can all have different type of decks that work for each of us. It's definitely not a favorite in my collection, but I really enjoyed wlthe process of getting to know it and I've got a new appreciation for it. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Oh yes, lots of people have used it for years without the big book. That's a recent edition but the deck has been around for a while and is a favorite for many people. I hope that helps. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I really appreciate you sharing your journey. I've so wanted this deck. I think the bonding process is what really matters. How does it feel? How does it read? Thank you for your honesty. You can defenitely appreciate the art and a deck without bonding with it. There are so many aditions and fakes I was not sure myself. Wow! That 10 of Swords us defenitely not for the faint of heart! I like the world card! Why is the 3 if Swords not a heartbreak card? I'm curious how you interpret it. I am defeniteky more picky with decks. I feel you. It always take six months to a year for ne to decude based on internet. Some decks I adore, but don't work well with them. Clowns and puppets freak me out, so it does for ne what it needs to do. That's funny about the breasts. Maybe sone heart chakra work? Does the moon phase correspond with each card? It defenitely embodies the beauty, darkness, and lunicy of the moon! I appreciate there arw different creatyres for everybody. Yes! Good point. Some cards need each other! Is the boardered addition bigger? Is that a leather or clith cuff you are wearing? That looks really cool! Aaaaah!... yeah pairings help me bond too. Do you sell the deck after it's been boardered? I defenitely find the reading in the guidebook is very soecifuc and somewhat limiting. I can see how the cards are better read intuituvely. I do like that it can custonize utsekf to you, because of the art style. Looooove how that shuffles. It back sasses you! ! I love it! This video is one of the few tarot vudeos l stayed interested in throughout. This was wonderful! Thank you! I love your ibterpretations of this deck!
Dude that was so many questions. You don't honestly think this person is going to answer them do you? Most of us go on to Google and do some research. We don't expect a Creator to answer 82 questions.
I am really into art, and I think this deck is great artwork. But it doesn't spark anything in me as I watch it. Though that huge book must be very interesting considering the artwork and the thoughts of the artist. I loved to see how you work with a deck during the month.
I've never liked this deck. The artwork holds zero interest for me; in fact, I just do not appreciate "cartoonish" decks. They just turn me off totally. But, I do appreciate your review and insights on this particular deck. I still hate it, and it will never be in my collection. But I appreciate your effort.
I am so glad that you enjoyed the video even if you don't enjoy the deck. 🙂 It's still not a deck I would consider a favorite, but I do have a new appreciation for it. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Really enjoyed your work with the Deviant Moon and the Lantern Oracle. Deep reading. I don't have either of these decks but they really are amazing together.
Enjoyed this journey so much. I’ve had my eye on this deck for awhile, but just haven’t thought I could handle it with my limited Tarot skills right now. But I’m learning. I’m definitively learning. Working on monthly medicine journal right now! Stay safe. And thank you.
I am so glad you enjoyed it. I don't think I would have had much luck with it when I was just starting out either, but it has been a really interesting experience. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Thank you for making this video, I have been intrigued by this deck, just because of how many people say they love it. However I don’t think it would work for me at all, while the art work is cool, it doesn’t speak to me at all, to be honest it gives me the creeps a little bit. The deck feels too scary and dark to me. So this is one, I know that I am never gonna buy. All respect to the artist and creators of the deck though, they produced a really cool deck, but it’s not for me personally.
It's been a really wonderful experience to get it know it over the past month and I've enjoyed my work with it.
Thank you for watching. ❤️
This is how im feeling and trying to decide if I want to get it. I’m trying to remind myself I can always give it away and I’m a healer so I can always clear it away! 🧿
I felt the way you felt. After considering the cards I believe that a 3 of cups is a 3 of cups no matter what deck you use.
I’ll always love Deviant Moon ❤. I have soooo many of his decks and in different colors. I enjoy when you share what the cards mean to you. That’s the best. And your mods are always fun 🤩
Thank you so much, I am so glad you enjoyed it. 🥰
This is a very dream like deck to me
Deviant Moon is is in my top 7.
The book was really wonderful in helping me connect with the deck. It was a really wonderful experience getting to know it. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Something about this comment made me think about pairing this with thw wild unknown. Thanks cuz I'm looking forward to that!
I am so glad you enjoyed it and I plan to do this process again with more decks in the coming months. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Great video! 👍
I've had this deck for 4 years and I'm still discovering new things in it!
Its my deck, for years now! A great one
I love this deck as well as all of his tarot and oracle decks!! They are so amazing!! ❤️👍
It's been an interesting experience for sure and the big book really was a big part of that process. Thank you for watching. ❤️
The best of “Deviant “ I’ve found.
What a great video!
I love how you comprehensively take the viewer through your thoughts, interpretations and dealing with this deck. This is so enlightening, interesting and entertaining.
You should do this more often.
Thank you!
I am so glad you enjoyed it. I'm hoping to do it again, it was a lot of fun. Thank you for watching. ❤️
For me, the deck helps with shadow work. Especially truths I’m avoiding or blocking. It’s very gentle though. The Hermit is one of my favorite; I read it as internal shadow work that I’m afraid/uncomfortable to do.
Ooh my fave deck. My go to. This should be interesting.
I hope you enjoy it, I know it's a favorite for many people. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I have this deck and love it so much. We have an instant connection ❤️
The Ace really says "Stay true to yourself through the test, and you'll be ok."
I also really like how you personalized your deck.
I am so glad you enjoyed it. I'm looking forward seeing what the new illustrated deck looks like too. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Sounds like you had a really cool experience with it! Thank you for watching. ❤️
@@DawnMichelleTarot yes definitely
It's a POWERFUL deck! Strong hard hitting deck! Love it!
It is a pretty cool deck for sure!
You won't be surprised, but I LOVE this video! It is so interesting to watch and it is food for thoughts. 💛
I am so glad you enjoyed it! It was such a fun experience. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Oh I look forward to how you find it one month from now. I think she's a gem! But I appreciate she's got an interesting perspective.
It's been an interesting process for sure! I've enjoyed getting to know it and look forward to learning more. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I am so glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I really like the Lantern Oracle, I think it's a really well done deck. So many layers. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Loved learning more about your process! Would love to see more videos like this! Now, I feel I need the Deviant Moon too!
I am so glad you enjoyed it and I'm planning on doing this again with another deck. It was a really cool experience. I wouldn't say it's a favorite in my collection, but I've definitely developed an appreciation for it. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I have this borderless deck. At first I wasn’t drawn to it but the more I use it the more I like it .
It's been a slow burn for me too. 🙂 Thank you for watching.
That was my experience as well. I don't think I would have had the same experience if I hadn't gotten the book. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I love the structure of this video! I would definitely enjoy seeing more videos like this
I'm so glad you enjoyed it and I'm definitely planning on doing more! Thank you for watching. ❤️
You've inspired me to give this deck another try. I really like this kind of videos 👍🏻
I am so glad you enjoyed it and I hope you have a wonderful experience with the deck as well! Thank you for watching. ❤️
I keep seeing it and keep fighting it because I don’t WANT to like it but I can’t keep resisting 😅
Hehe I've had decks do that to me too. I don't want to want it but I do.
Oh wow, I gotta get this book!!
I agree, the big book really adds to the experience of working with the deck. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I'll join your club. Lol. Haven't bought DM and no interest in Light Seers.
@@tarottarantulas 😂😜 I’m suspecting we will have no trouble finding like minded to join us.
Wow the excerpts you read from the book, makes me think I might just get that.
The book was really helpful for me too.
I am so glad you enjoyed it. Some decks it just takes me a while to warm up to and I think this was definitely one of them. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Looking at the moon phases would be fun, I'll have to do that too! Thank you for watching. ❤️
I enjoyed getting to know it but I definitely still find some of the cards creepy, so I totally get that! Thank you for watching. ❤️
Coloring esges gives uniqe look and i think makes closer connection with the deck . Thanks
Yes, love the going into depth and seeing how you work with decks. I have a couple of versions of this deck and haven't worked with it yet. I received them in some trades and wasn't sure about working with it. Now I am interested and actually love some of the cards. I liked the way you did this video, it was great.
I am so glad you enjoyed it, it was a really interesting process to work through. I hope you enjoy working with your deck. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I bought the book and it's priceless. Not at all weird but very helpful.
The book is stunning, I have really enjoyed reading it. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I have resisted it, too, but I like how the Fool has animals that are similar to the first tetrapods that walked on land. I love the thinking behind that, even if it was inadvertent.
There is a lot of interesting stuff going on in the deck. The big book really helped me to make those connections with it. Thank you for watching. ❤️
My favourite deck 🙂
I think this deck is wonderful for shadow work, but it also reads very well because, despite its weird looking, it has a sense of cinical humor inside its images.
I really enjoyed this .
I was wanting the original color but since this new one is going to be the normal
kind of coloring it looks like, I’m happy w/the little collection I have. My son loves playing card decks…I actually ordered Patrick’s playing card Oracle & we both love it! It’s not the same like created beings (friendly demons I call them lol) but how he Incorporated the suits into the images is so cool! I am actually going to order another…I think I saw it on Amazon too. I have a feeling u would like it…
okay girl have a beautiful weekend coming up! I’m happy u busted out a long video…something to watch for the day when I get little breaks to myself…🤪
I’m thinking of edging mine in some kind of silver (I have a pack of Ranger pads) might not match tho…
but I’m debating about my Purple also! Lol!
Also speaking of the 90’s I hear Siouxsie & the Banshees & even some of The Cure playing in the background of the scenes.
I really enjoy making the longer videos, definitely going to be adding more of those to my channel. ❤️
I think you should do it!
I’ll let you know...🧐
I've definitely wouldn't say it's a favorite in my collection at this point, but I have developed an appreciation for it. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Your not the only one!! I just bought the borderless Deviant Moon myself. Had the bordered one didn't get along with it. I too am currently on a get to know you quest with this deck
How fun, I hope you enjoy your work with it! Thank you for watching. ❤️
I love the art in this deck. I have the big book and love it as well. However I did have trouble connecting with it for readings. I connected with the actual art of the deck. Lol ill just be keeping it as a collector deck.
It makes a beautiful collector piece for sure! Thank you for watching. ❤️
Really enjoyed this 😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I totally understand that, the art is definitely not my favorite. I'm glad you enjoyed the video anyway!
Thank you for watching. ❤️
I love the minor arcana… that’s where you go” ohhhhh I get it,” the major arcana is weird for me! This deck I didn’t understand.
It's definitely taken me some time to come to an understanding with it as well. Thank you for watching. ❤️
And if you look deeper, you will find a lot of symbols and details, wich are very helpful for meditation.
I wish you explained your reading at the end. I just ordered this and bought the app for 4 bucks.
@@DawnMichelleTarot Thank you it helped a lot I found your video con it also
Had to give you an update and thank you for suggesting The Intuitive Night Goddess . I purchased it . The deck is beautiful.
You are definitely not the only one :)
Mine just came, haven't opened yet
It was an interesting experience bonding with it over the month. I hope you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching. ❤️
@@DawnMichelleTarot I sure did .. I loved your journey with the wands. The 9 of wands is a favorite in this deck. I had my own journey with it too.
14:00 yes court jester vibes.
Do you think this deck works without the book?
Oh yes, lots of people have used it for years without the big book. That's a recent edition but the deck has been around for a while and is a favorite for many people. I hope that helps. Thank you for watching. ❤️
I cannot get on board with this deck. It’s not just that I “don’t get” the artwork, but that it actively creeps me out.
You're definitely not the only one, there's alot of people who find the artwork off-putting. Thank you for watching. ❤️
It reminds me of Punch and Judy puppets.
It does! Definitely a puppet vibe to it.
I am so glad you enjoyed and it found it interesting! It was a really great experience to get to know this deck. Thank you for watching. ❤️
Interesting that the Death card didn't have a title compared to the rest of the major arcana cards.
@@Littlemissdirtbag I've never watched any other videos about this deck. So, I have no idea. 😂
It's a nod to the early traditional Italian and French decks.
@@jaywheeler760 Thank you for telling me! 😊 I appreciate the info!
There was some really powerful messages in those decks for me for sure. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you for watching. ❤️
I don't like how pointy the figures are and I can't connect with it either. The Zammer Twins is a whole different story though :D
