At 31:30 you said that if Sun diminishes today then we will get to know about it after an year. My question is if sun rays take approximate 8-9 minutes to reach earth surface then why will we not get to know about it going off for a whole year?
If we travel 1 minute in light speed so it will be equal to 49 days of earth according to some articles I haved studied on internet so 10 min will be 490 days And sun light takes 7-8 min to reach earth's surface so technically 7-8 min of light speed might be equal to nearly 365 days
@@gauravbhati1588 you said that if "we" travel in light speed .so i assume you mean that 1 minute of light speed covers a distance worth 49 earth days of travel. Since the light from sun travels at light speed and takes about 8 min to reach earth. If we assume the sun dissapears we would come to know in about 8 mins. But also the earth and all planets would go flying out of its orbit because of no gravity to hold them in orbit. So we would feel the earth flying away before the sun dissappears.

Time dilation occurs due to two things :- (1) When you travel with the speed of light, because it is constant in any frame of reference in the universe. (2) Gravity - because gravity of any massive object bends Space - time curve around it so, the time around it decrease.

I have read the book Brief History of Time a few times and I know that this is a very complicated subject. You deserve full appreciation for attempting this video. It would need more time and deeper insight to cover the subject. It is a marvelous book and all you guys who have seen this video and are commenting should grab the book and read it. The purpose of this video would actually get served if this leads you to actually reading the book. The video could have been far better than what it has turned out to be. Several contents are repetitive and are also not in desired order to understand this wonderful concept of time. There was absolutely no need to talk about the ozone layer, the core of the earth, no atmosphere on Mars etc. It was disturbing to listen that the size etc of the earth decreases as we approach the poles as this is entirely out of context. The most disturbing point was that we won't know for a very long time and it would need a lot of calculation to find out if the sun started to stop emitting light. Light travels at a speed of 299,792 kms per second and it takes 499 seconds for light to travel from the Sun to the Earth, a distance called 1 Astronomical Unit. So we'll know in precisely 499 seconds when the sun starts to stop emitting light. It was necessary to talk about the fact that the rate at which the universe is expanding is actually increasing and not decreasing as it would have looked logical and was understood to be the case earlier. This creates a whole new and interesting paradigm in the big bang theory.

Sir I have just got a little example for time . As we cant explain what is TIME.. but just think the moment when you enjoy somewhere , you say time passed so early.. but when you have to wait or stay at some unknown place , time seems to be stuck. Just like that.. Time passed is only one year ..at some place other than earth in the universe. But same time passed at earth was equals to 1000 years for example. It is possible. Some factors can affect time . But the universe is rotating or planets are rotating in some systematic manner. Some planets may rotate faster than earth then the time of day and night will obviously lesser than that earth..

For time dilation, it is not necessary to travel at the speed of light also that is not possible. You just need to be different from another object.

I have read the book Brief History of Time a few times and I know that this is a very complicated subject. You deserve full appreciation for attempting this video. It would need more time and deeper insight to cover the subject.
It is a marvelous book and all you guys who have seen this video and are commenting should grab the book and read it. The purpose of this video would actually get served if this leads you to actually reading the book.
The video could have been far better than what it has turned out to be. Several contents are repetitive and are also not in desired order to understand this wonderful concept of time.
There was absolutely no need to talk about the ozone layer, the core of the earth, no atmosphere on Mars etc. It was disturbing to listen that the size etc of the earth decreases as we approach the poles as this is entirely out of context.
The most disturbing point was that we won't know for a very long time and it would need a lot of calculation to find out if the sun started to stop emitting light. Light travels at a speed of 299,792 kms per second and it takes 499 seconds for light to travel from the Sun to the Earth, a distance called 1 Astronomical Unit. So we'll know in precisely 499 seconds when the sun starts to stop emitting light.
It was necessary to talk about the fact that the rate at which the universe is expanding is actually increasing and not decreasing as it would have looked logical and was understood to be the case earlier. This creates a whole new and interesting paradigm in the big bang theory.

Sir I have just got a little example for time . As we cant explain what is TIME.. but just think the moment when you enjoy somewhere , you say time passed so early.. but when you have to wait or stay at some unknown place , time seems to be stuck. Just like that.. Time passed is only one year ..at some place other than earth in the universe. But same time passed at earth was equals to 1000 years for example. It is possible. Some factors can affect time . But the universe is rotating or planets are rotating in some systematic manner. Some planets may rotate faster than earth then the time of day and night will obviously lesser than that earth..
