Companies and employers have absolutely no right to complain that they can't find any talent when they are guilty of stupid things like this. If you cut corners and cut costs in every scummy way you can, even getting rid of your whole HR department and replacing it with just faulty Applicant Tracking Software (ATS), you should shut up about nobody wanting or even being able to work for you. Long story short, the reason why "nobody wants to work anymore" is because companies and employers absolutely suck at hiring. What you meant to say was, literally nobody is ABLE to work because of idiotic company hiring and recruiting practices.
Yup. They can't find anyone because they're being too picky. I saw a dishwasher job that required 3 years experience. I couldn't believe it, I was like "What?!", 3 years experience to wash dishes?!, they're crazy and on something. Labor shortage was a myth, it was actually a CHEAP labor shortage.
Spent 6 years in the Marine Corps, filled leadership and training billets, got out and became a biomedical technician and after leaving my last position for a new one and getting laid off I have been out of work for 6 months. 100’s of applications, many rejections, some I have never even heard back from. I have burned through my savings and a lot of credit just to survive and still nothing. I have even outsourced to outside of my state and can’t land a job. Now I am about to be homeless. Meanwhile I keep hearing talks of people complaining of worker shortages because “nobody wants to work anymore.” Im quite sick of it all really
It really is bullshit, I'm sick of hearing people say nobody wants to work when you've got thousands desperate for a job. None of these bastards wants to HIRE!
I've been saying the labor shortage claim is bullshit. The country just add 100000 migrants over the last the year And you want me to believe there's still a labor shortage. Large companies and the government is doing this to try to avoid a recession
Same! I get to round 2 and 3 and then get ghosted. It’s like, why are they wasting so much time interviewing people they aren’t serious about? I see the same job posting up a month later.
It's ridiculous and they are so picky!!! They cry they can't get anyone but they don't want to hire or spend the time to train! It's so stupid no matter how nice you dress up and show up...nothing!
The problem is These people don't want to hire. They want as little employees as possible to save money. To make up for Covid. They have hiring signs up to keep their current employee's thinking that help is coming. Then when help doesn't come the blame is not on them. They can say, 'Hey, it's not our fault, we are trying, but no one wants to work!!
@hayleymassacre15 if you don't mind asking what do you do to work for yourself? And how did you do it. Not trying to take whatever you're doing and copy but just out of curiosity
I have been applying everywhere around me, I’m part time in college and have cashier, managerial and housekeeping history. Yet can’t even get hired at a cvs (when my resume says I worked at Walgreens, their competitor) or a Dunkin
Wow. I'm no employer, but that sounds pretty impressive for a College student. Could be discrimination, but that's hard to prove. Unfortunately. I'm really sorry.
this right here! i work for a small company of 9 people, and one of my coworkers found out that the owner took out a PPP loan. I read somewhere that in order to have PPP loan forgiveness, you have to keep your head count. Our owner is a pretty greedy man... so, hopefully none of us get laid off if they want that forgiveness.
What I don't understand is how are the jobs going to bitch and complain about ppl don't want to work but then they don't want to hire somebody that actually does want to work 😑😑.. bro I swear these jobs nowadays
They could impose another lockdown if they feel they are losing in the competition. The lockdown allows for big and essential businesses to buy out small businesses.
Here in Los Angeles people want to work. I'm one of them, I been submitting applications along with my resume to different companies online, with no luck getting at least an interview. It seems that their automated screening system are dismissing good candidates who otherwise be good for the position. I'm not letting that discourage me I know I'll he working soon for a good company with great people.

Illinois is the same way. I applied to over 3,000 jobs. Simplified my resume. Don't use my business degree in management no one wants thinkers they want doersI got tons of experience in sales and retail and machines operations still no offers. It is crazy. I know I am not going to get what I am worth but at least get a great employee. It is crazy out here!.
Yup. Verbal abuse is NOT in the job description. A friend of mine used to work at Grade A two years ago. They wanted him to push carriages in 85, 90 and 95 degree heat for $13.50 an hour after taxes. He said No way. That's not worth $13.50 an hour.
There was NO labor shortage, there was a CHEAP Labor shortage. That's what it was. They weren't desperate for help, they just missed their slaves and wanted them back. If they were desperate, then they'd respond to emails and phone calls. The evidence clearly showed they weren't desperate. There's anti Discrimination Laws, but there's also ways around AROUND those Laws too.
You absolute geniuses showed everyone what their kids were really being taught in schools and now half of your parental workforce realizes one of them needs to be staying at home to actually educate their own children.
Had to shut down my welding business first of 2020 after 5+ years, have applied at hundreds of jobs have got a couple phone calls and one interview that’s it, I’ve applied from entry level to supervisor jobs anything they will take a application for and nothing, I’ve lost my house and thankfully my welding truck and tools are all paid for but it seems like there is no work yet everybody says there hiring…..

Honestly they want robots that never get sick, don’t take time off, never have personal issues.. just apply for unemployment and call it a day.
Yup. Cashiers, stockers, baggers, waiters, bus boys, dishwashers and bartenders are not robots. They're people with feelings, needs, rights and bodily functions. They seem to have forgotten that.
I put an application for redners got no response back I put a second application in a couple months later I get an interview, the interviewer asked if I was a introvert or an extrovert, I said introvert and the interviewer said WHY his name was Ryan, I thought to myself why is that bad to him I didn't get the job due to being a introvert. Walmart I put 2 applications in not a single call or email back, I applied for just born and it says I needed a previous job to work there I just died inside I set all that up just for it to say that at the end of the application. I put application in for lafarge, sent a message 2 times called 3 times and got nowhere nothing not a damn thing my cousins all have jobs and I'm 21 and I still don't have one I don't even feel the same around anyone anymore life is such bull****.
Truthfully businesses have PTSD from the pandemic shortages so they rather keep jobs posted and hire at their leisure that 1.9:1 job ratio is completely misleading but doing research means stopping the clown act and admitting things aren't as grand as they appear on paper
Oh boy, this comment did not age well. In case you haven't heard, the Supreme Court just ruled that homeless people can get arrested for sleeping in public areas. Sick, dystopian country we're living in.
These are convoluted elements involved. Either juking the numbers of saying they are offering yet they are comfortable being misguiding. And some companies I've experienced have gone to the length of actually allowing candidates to start onboarding, but after a day later, they will retract provisions to access it. This is malice, and the sense of a utilitarian concept is absent.
Companies blame workers and workers blame companies.. its easier to blame someone else. But companies can control their hiring practices, employees can only apply one way.

Everyone here in vegas said there hiring but nobody is hiring lol I applied at so many jobs.
Then, they're not hiring. Don't put a sign up that says "Now Hiring" or "Help wanted" if they're not hiring. That's false advertising.
