- Here's a quick video of this nice little general aviation aircraft, this 1966 Mooney M20C Ranger C-FWVS seen taking off from CZNL in Nelson, British Columbia. This is the first time I've filmed one of these planes, so I was really happy to catch it!
O I love the Mooney M20C. Flew them a lot on charter.Great aeroplane. That high aspect ration wing and that bullet proof gear retraction. The short strip performance is excellent. 600 yard crop duster strip are fine with a Mooney. In my opinion one of the most beautiful and well performing aircraft ever built.
Very nice, I bet that was fun flying M20's!
I love the Mooneys. Classic planes, and that distinct tail. Great video!
Thanks very much!
I´m always happy when I see a Mooney at Graz. There is only one which is flying regulary to our airport. Very good takeoff video.
I love Mooneys! Especially the earlier model that has retractable gear operated by a manual lever. I like to retract it over the viewing area, and give the kids something to watch. I am usually asked by kids, "How do the wheels go so fast?" So I had no choice but to put the plane on a Jack and show them how simple it is. Nowadays, some of the earlier models' gear are being replaced with the motorized retraction/extension mechanism. If only it didn't have that high pitched whine
My buddy an I fly his 1964 M20C. I love having the Johnson bar rather than the electric gear. It's so easy to tell if the gear is up or down. I'm not kidding, one of the items we say to confirm the gear down is "I got a Johnson", so long as the handle is up. Less confusion, despite the green bulb.
I will NEVER say that in a plane.
Beautiful aircraft, really enjoyed watching this 1966 Classic, I'm glad you caught this one. Mooney's are great little airplanes. Take care & keep up the great work.
X factor
Nice job Jesse, i like the mooney M20, plus i also prefer a wing under vs. Wing over
Beautiful shot there! In our local airport, Mannheim, we also get these small planes together with some rare do228 and even do328. What we dont get is this awesome Terrain like at your place
+EuroAviation Nice, the Do 228 is an aircraft I'd really like to film some day. It really is nice having all the mountainous terrain surrounding CZNL, makes for some interesting spotting!
Brilliant catch mate, awesome camerawork as usual! Liked!
+HD Melbourne Aviation Thanks very much!

Wow! Very nice aircraft, quite rare to see. Love this airport
+cpockettsAviation Thanks a lot, it's definitely a fun little airport for spotting.
+TheHDAviation I love going to Nelson. It's a short walk (uphill) to town.
MrShobar That's one of the great things about CZNL, the town is nice and accessible by foot and a scenic walk around the lake is on the doorstep of the airport.
Very cool catch! Well done :)
+YQBspotting Thanks a lot!

Awesome catch mate!! Such a funny tail but rather cool nonetheless!! Liked:)
+YMML SpottingTeam Ya, the tail is definitely different. Thanks a lot!
Don't know much about Moodys.....but one question..... how come taxiing was done with full up elevator, instead of down elevator to keep nose wheel down?
jalbert222 ... No nose wheel problems. Not full up elevator, but takeoff trim. The entire empenage tips for pitch trim and is bungeed. Hence it looks like that. I had a new G model in 68. When 2 place, 174 mph true at 6500 ft. on 8.8 gph. Many hours. As it aged it got 6 slower. A true 150 kt airplane.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Nice camera work!
+Donald .Top Thanks!
nice catch.,... i dont see Mooney's my way
+SKBenergy Thanks, I hope you get to see one some day.
***** A random mix of small general aviation aircraft, mostly Cessna's and Piper's. We also get some King Air's and PC-12's passing through CZNL.
+Squid Takeover Lots of Cessnas and Beech turboprops, the occasional Beechcraft or Piper.
Awesome! :)
+planesguy Thanks for watching :-)
