This car represents amazing value in its current form. $55k car competing with $70k competitors. It’s older than the new 3 series but newer than the C class. I test drove one 4 years ago when it just came out and the ride and handling were superb. That said I do agree that the power output seems low for a turbo of this size, looks like typical Corolla figures from a mainstream NA small sedan.

It's amazing how many people here don't realise that one engine can have different tunes depending on the trim level! Of course it's capable of more and the same engine delivers 220+ hp in higher trim levels.. It's detuned to be the entry level

I know it’s the good torque figure that this engine delivers but 110kw is ridiculously low. The engine can do that naturally aspirated.

Why is this thing so under tuned, is it only in AU this way? .

  • @russell3436

I know the engine has been de-tuned, but when the average consumer sees a modern 2020s car that has a 2.0L turbo engine only produces 110kW that is seriously low and embarrasing, they could’ve removed the turbo altogether or kept the old 1.4L turbo as it basically had the same specs.

The factory claims 0-100km/h(0-62mph) in 8.9" and a top speed of 225km/h (140mph). At least for the European spec car's .😀

Awesome car…beautiful, well built, comfortable and sporty enough to still have some fun on twisty roads

Hi , am looking into this car since I had 2020 audi a4 7dsg 163 hp diesel and with this car in drive when cruising my speed would be 150kph in 7th gear on 2000rpm . Am just curious since there is same gearbox in question, would I have similar experience with this same vehicle. I understand it is les hp and torque involved, but if you tested it on highway, what was the speed in 7th gear on 2000rpm?

  • @Skminto

What's the number of the engine? Does anybody know?

My 1990’s Nissan Pulsar had a 2.0L non turbo and produced 105kw, how on earth do you make such little power from a 2.0L turbo in 2021? A lot of time and effort must have gone into new de-tuning technology for this car to make the power output so low.

The front wheels slip too much, probably due to the non-performance tyre solution.
