Glad to see those new snares hit the water! We're running into trap savy beaver this last week too. Super trap shy & seem to be experts at shoving green sticks in the 330s

Thanks for sharing. That seems to be a good way to catch them. Can't wait till you do some spring Trapping.

Nice job. I bring burlap sacks to cover the hole and kick some snow on top of that keeps the hole from freezing

So obviously they figured out a trap but the "Double -Snare" trick, now that's something new. Well done!

8" hand ice auger works great for making the hole. Two holes side by side. When its zero out you don"t want to take too long. Especially when you get older.lol Great videos you have. I am now an addict to you tube! Eat more BEAVER!

If you duct ape up the entire role of tie wire then cut out the center on one side , you can pull the end out of the center as you need it and no mess at all. Just a suggestion .

I see in your intro you holding a cauliflower mushroom, also known as a unicorn mushroom, the reason being that they are very rear. Very delicious as well. Good Find. Do you know if the Beaver tail bait co. will buy tails?

I'm holding a grifola frondosa also known as hen of the woods. They grow here in a lot of areas in the fall. If you email them they will let you know. I'm not sure if they are buying any right now

when I use a green willow stick for my pole, I run a number 9 wire from top to bottom tied to the pole at both ends. Then if they chew off, you still have your beaver. Happy Beaver trapping!

Maniac wrap your roll of wire with duct tape. then cut a hole in the middle on one side. this allows you to pull the wire from the center of the spool keeping it all nice and together. You wont have that big wire rat nest.

It's funny the Quest for Beaver pelt really opened up vast areas for exploration and you could get rich trapping beaver and selling pelts to the likes of Hudson bay co ect. Then beaver hats fell out of fashion and that was it.

I don't like using chainsaws for ice either. They'll get you soak-n-wet everytime.
Get yourself an ice saw. I bought one to make spearing holes. Found out quickly that it's handy for more than just darkhouse spearing.

Duct tape around that roll of wire and pull your wire from center. Compact and easy to handle.

Nice catch buddy!! Do you have an idea of about how many beaver are in there that you have to catch?? I absolutely love snaring beaver for sure!! But the only time I would snare beaver was when the water wasn’t frozen over!! It’s a heck of a lot easier for sure!! I caught 7 or 8 beaver in the same location one year!! All I would have to do is cut old snare off after catching a beaver & tie new snare back up to the earth anchor!! A buddy that would trap with me didn’t think I would catch more then two or three beaver in the same location & after catching two in the same location he kept telling me you better move your snare you better move your snare you have educated them that they are going to be smart & not get caught!! He said he had never been able to catch more then two or three beaver in the same location before so he would move his snares around more thinking he would have better luck snaring more beaver!! We had no idea how many beavers where even in the area but there was definitely a bunch!! Good luck buddy & I hope you can catch the rest of them out of there for sure!!! Awesome how to video!! I’ve personally have never made a snare set up like that one before but it looks like it worked for you!! Awesome!!

Those snares looked like they were very high quality. Did you buy them premade or make them yourself? As far as the furry critters go, it's always productive to connect on one and remove it. Maybe the big ones will be next, whenever you get the chance to target them.

They say to use a 10" loop for beaver, but have more miscatches with 10" loops. However it seems I never have a miscatch with a 11" loop. The big ones get caught just behind the front legs and the small ones get caught in front of the back legs. Never have a miscatch this way.
