    we cook a lot of ours in the crockpot like this ,beaver has become my favorite wild meat . try grinding a 80/20 grind with bacon ends and pieces ,beaver makes fantastic burgers also .i do add some bread crumbs as a binder and it tastes better than beef.

    The beaver I've been eating costs me alot of money😂

      How?because the bullets or traps costing more than the beaver you’re killing.

    Good tip on getting the glands out. Beaver meat is great, but don't forget muskrat too. I like my beaver with BBQ sauce best with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Great catch and cook.

    My largest Beaver was a snare catch outside the city limits of Alexandria Minnesota back in the winter of 98/99 that Beaver weighed in at 75 lb. When I butchered that up to make it all into jerky I found a 22 bullet head flat against the leg bone, that just tells you how tough animals in Minnesota can be. Also caught a gray squirrel in a trap that also had a 22 bullet in it and it will still alive yes Minnesota has some tough Critters. And yes those glands are very important as you say I remove them when I cook woodchuck too not to mention muskrat.

    I had my doubts, but being willing to try anything once, I caught and cooked a Beaver a few years ago... to say I was surprised/ amazed at the taste is an understatement! Many compare beaver meat to pot roast, I don't think a cow comes close :)

    I do mine by boiling for 30 minutes on rolling boil then fry until brown in bacon grease. Delicious and have roasted in the oven and made soup with left overs. So good

    My Buddy Dave and me done that years ago in a old oven he had in the garage. Made it in a big old blue roaster pan with onions and garlic. Salt and pepper. Go check our trapline. Back in 8 hours. Eat it for supper and start skinning critters. Good stuff almost like roast beef. Get all fat and veins out. Yummmy!! 👍 Jeff :)

    I smoked the shoulders and lower half of a 40 pound one about 5 years ago. I put it in for about 2 hours and it turned out great! Note to self, don't share with friends. They may not leave any for you! @Judith davis...I will have to try grinding one sometime.

    I've noticed in your videos you like to set the 330's with the springs on one side with one stick and the use a swivel stick to keep from swiveling. I'm a novice and so far have just been using them with one spring on each side with a stick in each spring to hold it in place with trigger on top.. although I saw you said to put on bottom so I'll start doing that. Anyway is there times when one setup is better than the other or do you always like to do it with two on one side like on this video? I got my first one last weekend and the meat is so good, it has a bit of a sweet taste and flavor and like you said good clean organic meat is always the best. I'm hooked and ordered 3 more 330's this week so I'll have 5 now, going to try again next weekend

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  3 года назад +1

      I put both Springs to one side and use a swivel stick in deeper water

    • @gregmulfort9577
      @gregmulfort9577 3 года назад +1

      @@330Maniac in deeper water when putting them in a run, can you just put it on the bottom without worrying about them swimming over it or do you block off the area above the trap?

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  3 года назад +1

      That is a judgement call. Learning whether to set the trap up or on the bottom comes with a little trial-and-error. Each lodge can be different
