  • I went to Southern California’s Carnivorous Plant Enthuiasts’ big annual show and sale at the Sherman Library and Botanical Gardens and had so much fun shopping and getting inspired by these cool and unique plants. They have got to be the most fascinating types of plants on this green Earth! Venus flytraps, sundews, pitcher plants of all sorts are all here to be shown and bought and I’m so thankful I get to share it with you.
Thanks for another amazing show and sale SCCPE!

One more thing! I love that Julie Newmar has a begonia named after her-about 25 years ago, I spent about 18 hours with her as we both were traveling from Bali back to LA with many delays. She was so cool, both as a human being and as a cat woman! That’s about the only name dropping that I can ever do, so there you go.

I really wanted to go to this show! I even marked it in my calendar from another of your videos earlier this spring, but it just wasn’t possible .. to be clear, I don’t get out much due to some health problems, so I do most of my plant exploring vicariously through your videos. No pressure of course-it’s only my worldly happiness that hangs in the balance! And if you ever come out to the desert, I’ll do all I can to meet you wherever you go shopping, or you guys can come by and take all the cuttings you want! But right now it’s hot as all living hell, so the fall would be better. We have Pride in November - well, we have pride all year, but in June we can’t have parades because it’s too fucking hot! You know what I mean…

The Sherman Library gardens is one of my favorite places to visit. We went a couple of weeks ago, but I was bummed the hot house was closed. Sad I missed this and seeing you there.

i love my little carnivore plant. i have no clue what it is called but it has sticky pads. i keep it by my kitchen window and it has totally done its job of getting rid of the fruit knats.

Carnivorous plants are great like that! I think Carnivero is near Houston! I’m not sure if their greenhouse is open for shopping but I bet maybe they do some pop ups in the area!

These plants are not my cup of tea, and I thought most of them were not attractive yet I appreciate Pat's diverse appreciation of them. The end of the video showed some plants that were really nice.

I’ve really been straying away from normal houseplants and focusing more on carnivores lately (especially nepenthes) over the last two years.
