- Official new movie clip for The Last Voyage of the Demeter
Plot : Based on a single chilling chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula, The Last Voyage of the Demeter tells the terrifying story of the merchant ship Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo-fifty unmarked wooden crates-from Carpathia to London.
Strange events befall the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a merciless presence onboard the ship. When the Demeter finally arrives off the shores of England, it is a charred, derelict wreck. There is no trace of the crew.

I didn't understand the bad reviews for this movie; sure it was predictable and precedented, but the movie gave a more ominous lore than the typical ones of the past and presented a much more intriguing and monstrous Dracula
I've been saying for years that someone needed to make the vampire scary again.
Agreed. I was getting tired of seeing Vampires on the cover of Tiger Beat.
Did you see the Master in The Strain? That is the last great one I saw. And then they moved him into the body of a goth guy and then a snarky rich guy. But the first one was amazing. ruclips.net/video/2pmhExaFv0U/видео.html
The strain already did that
You should have known that the voyage would not be a pleasant one, when Davos Seaworth is the captain of the ship.
When was the first Black doctor in England?
The first Black doctor to graduate in the UK was an American - the physician, abolitionist, and author James McCune Smith. Smith gained his M.D. from Glasgow university in 1837.
True, but he was pious not atheist. Any doctor graduating from any medical school institution in UK at that time would be Christian regardless of race or ethnicity. Then there comes the question of why a black doctor would be in Slavic Europe considering the history of how blacks and Moores and Muslims and Turks treated both people of white and olive to tan skin color and race. Because the word slave originated from enslaved white peoples from that region by others from the known world at the time. I don’t have a big problem with having a British black doctor. I have an issue that wasn’t pious at all and the whole movie was incredibly inconsistent and incorrect on multiple levels if going by the folklore and mythology and legend followed by the chapter in the book.
THANKS FOR THE REPLY!
Which is exactly why it bombed. People are sick of this race swapping nonsense.
IKR, Woke Hollywood. Black British Physician in Romania? I'm so tired of this nonsense,, @@leestewart72 🤣
@@leestewart72 So it's perfectly fine to have a vampire in a fantasy/horror movie, but that one of the characters happen to be black is too much? I don't see the logic in that.
Still a better love story than Twilight
Twilight was a love story?
I though the film was satire of some sort...
Probably because this film didn't even pretend to be a necrophiliac's wet dream.
Twilight is not a high bar.
"Alien" on a sail boat
Acting looks good from the male lead. I had no doubt he was trying to understand how it could be something not man but not animal. Looks worth seeing!
I've just visited Whitby, where the Demeter arrived from this voyage in the book. Perfect way to get into the mood, can't wait to see this.
Unfortunately the release in the UK has been delayed indefinitely! Was supposed to be out on 18th August. Really want to see this.
Why?
One can tell it's woke nonsense from the trailer.
@@fryertuck6496 more likely its related to the strike and actors not able to promote the film. Lots of films are being delayed until such time the the strike action is resolved.
@@mods-qo4pr Nope, woke shite, no interest from the general public.

The crew of this ship must be the absolute dumbest mofos in a horror movie, since the idiots from Alien: Covenant.
The stowaway Gypsy girl literally tells them all of Dracula´s weaknesses, specifically that SUNLIGHT WEAKENS HIM.
What do these brainlets do?
They try to kill him DURING NIGHT TIME!
Smart people don’t make for good horror movies
She tells them no such thing. All she says is he comes out at night to feed, she knows nothing about his weaknesses.
This movie should have done so much better at the the box office. I haven't seen a vampire movie this good in years!

I love this movie.
Why don’t they just throw the box overboard or put in the sun.
Because they don't know what it is or what it's weaknesses are.
they did thought of that, but he was not inside the box, he was hiding inside the ship
"He brought me here to feed"....amazing he never bite her once .....
Why go for the same old meal when you've got a smorgasbord to choose from?
He actually bit her SEVERAL times, just not on screen. The evidence is all over her body if you paid attention.
remember reading that chapter on Stokers book! the voyage from romenia to england, pretty scary on the book and it looks promising on film!
This movie was garbage.

@@michaelwall3393 havent seen it yet
I was excited as well but then disappointed that they didn’t stick to the source material. People were turning just by being bitten opposed to drinking his blood, crucifixes had no effect on him and the story of how he became Dracula (being cursed) was never touched on. At one point he seemed even to be impaled or pinned down and nothing happened. They should have just advertised it as a monster movie or new vampire movie but not connected it to Dracula or Bram Stoker because it is different. Without those expectations it was a good movie but as a Dracula fan I was disappointed
I can suspend disbelief for the vampire easier than I can this "doctor," lol
Wow
Racists really came out for this video clip.
This was set in 1897 a full 60 years after the first black doctor received a western medical degree
Seen it my opinion can’t wait for the second😉
This was the second movie.
Muy buena película
I love the movie !
Really good....very dark
The Alien movie story line re told as Dracula on a boat. I’ll give it a watch 👍
I'm pretty sure the "Alien" movie took its story from the Dracula novel.
This was a very good movie.
Seen it last night...finally dracula done right....hes not a suave dude with a top hat and cane...he is 400 years old and feral and lacking blood....fantastic film
I cant imagine an easier way to kill a vampire than to trap him on a ship...
Lower a lifeboat during the early dawn, load it with supplies, set fire to the ship with everyone aboard - problem solved.
Alternatively, find a deserted island during the day close to shore, get everyone out (assuming they can/will agree), unload enough supplies and tools and do the same.
Monsters are scary, ruthless humans are scarier.
Or just take out all the boxes during the day, lay them on deck, break them open and let the sunlight do the rest.
The Gypsy/Romani girl literally tells them: "The vampire can not survive in sunlight.."
@@doublep1980 Im assuming he might be hiding outside the coffin after first taken aboard, or that he can still defend itself in the dark hold even during daylight, as it is an enclosed space..but why not
Did they go with vampires being destroyed by sunlight? Because that's not from the original novel. Dracula is just made mortal during the day.
@@danieldickson8591 No idea..but id imagine fire works pretty well for most things 😀

#Spidersaludo me gustó este video del tráiler de esta película
Morbius time looks like man-bat tho still can't wait 🦇
The movie was good. However, parts of the writing bothered me because it wasn't too faithful to the novel. For instance, rats left the ship in the movie, but in the novel he could command animals such as rats, owls, bats, moths, foxes and wolves. Also, he didn't leave the Demeter in dog form at the beginning of the story. The narrative in movies always follow his appearance being associated with a vampire bat, for the most part. It was nice in Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) that he did turn into a wolf a few times.
Coppola's Dracula was even less faithful to the source material for trying to turn it into yet another necrophiliac romance story rather than sticking to the horror aspect. He also went far too overboard with the designs used in that film.
Titanic Captain doesn’t have much luck with boats. First he blames an Iceberg and next Dracula. Tut.
Why would I watch this movie knowing how it will end? And if they broke canon and changed it, that would just piss me off. So, why bother watching a ship full of people die with 0 suspense?
Fantastic movie. More like this.
Great stuff.
I saw this movie and I hope they go with a part 2 nice one…👍🏼👏🏼😉
I just saw it yesterday and I said the same lol can't wait to see it they make a part 2

Saw this day 1 in theatres and enjoyed it. Don't agree with the ending unless they were trying to go for an alternate take of the story, but given its box office take we won't see that vision.
Don't forget, this is a tiny part of the book Dracula. This was his transport to England, they can't kill him off in the middle of the original story. 🤣
@@uptonogood1893 I was never expecting them to kill off Dracula. My comment was about the sole survivor. If it was following the book you can see why this wouldn't work unless as I said they were going for an alternate vision of the story.
In real history is old Slavic orign of creature " Vampire " with name .. Upior, Onypir and even older strzyga
Anybody that watches a vampire movie and complains about historical inaccuracy is seriously in need of help
Why? It's set in the 1800s. There was no 1990's-to-2000's anti-racism in the 1800s. I don't really care myself since this was a good film, but expecting other people to be as lax as you is an exercise in futility.
Great idea for a film.
The vampire doesn't look that scary. Literally just a big overgrown bat
A man sized bat is pretty damn scary though.
It's only bat-like for the final thirty or so minutes of the film. The rest of the time it's more humanoid, in a sort of "Count Orlok from Nosferatu" sense.
Why do they have to kill the dog’s in movies man
Why get on a ship to go somewhere, then kill all the people?? does it just shipwreck and he gets off there?? or gets close enough to fly to shore?
Did he array him self?
It was a good movie....not an amazing movie, but it was good to watch.
This was a great movie
I wish more people would go and seen it realizing this is Bram Stoker's Dracula not those lovey dovey stupid draculas with Kristen Stewart and the like.
It's not a big ship. Could of killed him within about 20 minutes if you all just searched and shut the hell up.
Pumpkins are great but how many more shows are gonna use Bullet with Butterfly wings??Way overused.
About damn time someone made a scary vampire movie - instead of the gentlemanly , womanizing , smoozy character that sparkles in the daylight like that "Twilight" trash !!! This looks genuinely scary , harkens back to an idea from the original novel and looks well-acted and crafted...finally excited to see a movie again !!!!
absolute agreement with you.
how they made a whole movie from a short episode from Dracula when he sailed from Romania to England in the book...
The limited time frame compared to the whole novel, and the sharp focus on surviving a monster aboard an isolated ship, makes this chapter perfect for adapting to a movie. Note that Ridley Scott's Alien had pretty much the same premise and course of events.
@@danieldickson8591 Except Ridley Scott's Alien had survivors. The chapter in the novel this film is based on did not.
Loving the modern trope of inserting tokens into period pieces......smh
One of the best Dracula film I've ever had the pleasure to watch. As for those hating on this film just remember you got your wish on it not ever having the chance to geting a sequel due to it coming out during Barbie and Oppenheimer's spotlight. To me its a real shame. Movie brought me in shock to how awesome Dracula himself was. Maybe not to you but damn this movie made me go home and watch other Dracula/supernaturally themed movies.
i've said if they unpacked the Demeter Journals chapter in the book into a full film it would be amazing for years. haven't seen this yet, but it looks solid.
It has made me want to watch Dracula. Van Helsing was good I thought.
Oh you can read in the comments they only hate it because a black man is the main character. To Society nowadays if a white man with blonde hair and blue eyes isn't the main character then it must be "WOKE."
Movie is shit after 60min. Second half is total shit and full of stupidity
This may have flopped at the box office... but, damn, it looks scary as all heck!
This scene is exactly the same from predator
The dude shouldn’t have lived. The point is no one aboard ship survived.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter looked great. The acting was solid. But there was literally nothing new about the story. Every beat you’ve seen before. And the ending was very, VERY predictable being that it was based on a single chapter from the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker.
Yeah it was so predictable that the black oxford student survived and hunted Dracula along with Harker and Van Helsing. I remember that bit of the book very thoroughly.
The sequel will have Dracula hiding on board a stagecoach, picking the passengers off one by one.
they could pick up with the rest of the dracula story after the demeter. the fight between Van Helsing's gang and Dracula in the desecrated abbey would be cool. imagine this dracula diving and swooping down from the belfry through the dilapidated rafters to attack them. this movie gave us a bestial dracula in a confined space, now show us this dracula in large spaces and open spaces.
A ship is not that small.
I know vampires, werewolves etc are all fiction but if I were on this boat and Dracula was indeed real and on the same boat as me and I knew I was going to die anyhow I’d wait for sunrise and then sink the ship
depending on how long you last that might be a valid option. if you can survive being picked off long enough for the ship to reach a distance from land you could feasably row a longboat to, you might be good, and since you'd be traveling along europe toward england, it's not like you have to worry about washing up on a tribal cannibal island or a pirate den.
you could try for it farther out, but you'd need food. food means raiding the hold. vampire's in the hold. good way to not make it to the end credits.
Ending for it was mid overall good movie
