My three year old son Levi was just diagnosed with Type 1 on Thursday. He LOVED watching Henry get his sugar tested! Levi said, "He's just like me!" He also wants a pump now :-) Thank you, Henry and family, for letting us see what you do everyday. You helped Levi a lot!
Goog luck with Henry! :) I was diagnosed with Type 1 when I was 13 months old, back in the 1980's when we had no strips, or fast acting insulin. I have managed by diabetes for over 35 years, with no complications so far (thank God). It's not easy but you can do it, I"m sure! Good luck! :))
Thank you so much for this video! My 13 year old brother was just diagnosed yesterday! It's so crazy how your whole life can change in just a couple of minutes! Good luck with your family! You seem like an amazing mom :)
Our boy is nine and recently diagnosed (Oct. 2013). Sorry about your little guy, he is so little to go through this. I feel your stress, live, breathe it 24/7. I have given up explaining it to people because they have no clue what we go through each day. We have a similar scale as you use. It's a time saver. God bless and yes, hope, pray, believe there will be a cure. Someday.
Thank you for posting these video's. I am a single mom of two kids and my youngest (3 years old) was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on January 9 2013. This is such a life changing event and I thank you for sharing and helping me get through this struggle (not alone). I pray for a cure! I pray for our children!
@@muhalmi3372, now I have two kids with type 1. A year after my 3 year old was dx, my 8 year old was dx. Now 13 and 16. I can try my best and answer any questions you have. You're not alone!
I love you sharing all of this. Thanks for taking the time to do. I think it's so important for people to realize how much truly goes into it all and how serious it is. You are such a sweet mom and I am so glad Henry has someone like you and Andy who are supportive! I hope a cure can be found in his lifetime!
I was diagnosed at 18. I am now almost 21. This breaks my heart and it goes out to him. My first A1C was 14.2.... The next A1C after diagnosis was almost 6. All I can say is WATER WATER WATER. It helps so much, avoid drinks that dehydrate! Prayers for your family! God bless.
I watched this with my 3 year old, and tried explaining it to her. I think it's important that she is exposed to different situations other than what she is used to. She is going to have her finger poked today to check her iron. And Henry is a great example of a brave little boy to show her. I told her that she only has to have it done once in a while, and Henry has it done multiple times every single day and look how amazing he is. Thank you for sharing Amy.
you're a wonderful mother...my 33 year old boyfriend has type 1 and he was diagnosed when he was 3. this made me cry. I wish his family had the knowledge you have. great video.
I was diagnosed with T1D when I was 3 years old. I'm now 35. I had my share with ups and downs lots of difficulties through these years, but I can say now that I have mastered it and I'm thriving. It's a difficult road to walk but once you get to the right path you can do anything. Stay strong and healthy. Lot's of love from Greece.
I was diagnosed at 9 years old right after I came back from Disney land😒and my dad thought I was just sick so I was home for like half a week before I was getting really skinny and sick then he took me to the doctor they said my bloodsugar was the highest they ever seen in a kid.I had to ride in an ambulance to the Mary's Bridge Hospital on Tacoma.I wish the best of luck to you guys take care oh and I'm 14 now ❤️✨👑

My son is two and was just diagnosed right after having my second son and this video makes me cry. Its the first time I truly feel like somebody else knows how I'm feeling
Thank you so much for your videos. Our 8 year old daughter was diagnosed two months ago, and it is still so overwhelming. I feel like my brain is completely overloaded with all of the things I am trying to keep straight and calculate and plan for all day long. And at night it is a constant worry of whether she is going to go low. It truly is on your mind 24/7.
Great video! I have diabetes myself since I was four years old. I am now 18 and I have learned to live with it so wel. Thanks to this video I realised everything my parents did for me. May God bless you and your amazing son! :) and family ofcourse
Exact same story of my family. ...my son was diagnosed at the age of 2 when I just had my 2nd son...so we are living with diabetes for almost 11 months. Wish you and your family all the best
Same case here my son diagnose diabetes age 3 year 10 june 2022. So my question with you is how to look after the child. Diet, BSR check. So how you treat them..
God bless you. I was diagnosed as a 4yr and you are doing a great job. You have it so much better now then 1985 and I am so happy that the times have come to help parents manage and be more aware of Type 1 with technology. Keep up the good work and never let the disease overtake you.
I'm an FNP student in a pharm class and learning about DM. I really appreciated this. It's so helpful for me to put such a cute face to the whole process, and to be able to see how much work it is for patients and their families. God bless you guys. I'm praying for you and hope Henry continues to do well. He's such a trooper and you are such a good mother. Thanks again
Thanks for posting. My daughter was dx'd 4 months ago. She's 12, so our experience is a little different, but the challenges are the same. Your intro to this video could have come out of my mouth. dreamflight6000 do you have to test his blood sugar levels 3 times/day? my little niece just got diagnosed with diabetes and I am trying to learn as much as I can to help my sister in law get through this and pretty much to be supportive with her.
My 10 yo son also has type 1 he was diagnosed 3.5 months ago. Some days are better than others at the moment but all you can do is tackle this condition the best you can. This little boy is so lucky to have devoted parents .. Best of luck with everything.

You are doing an awesome job as a mom! I teach diabetes education and I plan on showing this to my students so they can get an appreciation of "a day in the life". One thing I typically teach is to only subtract fiber grams if there is 5 grams or more in a serving and then you subtract 1/2 of those fiber grams.
Amy, I don't know how you do it. Well, I mean obviously you just have to do it, but man, hats off to you! You are amazing!!! Henry is so lucky to have such an awesome momma!
was diagnosed type 2 diabetes 3 years ago at age 34. it's been a learning experience what to eat and what not to eat. I used to love bandanas but even one will spike my sugars to 300+. vegetables, salad's, beans, cheeses, nuts, Greek light & fit yogurt, sugar free oatmeal, any meats etc all good stuff. My average BS is 85-115.
I'm really touched by seeing how mother provides for their family. Also type one here.diagnosed after my 20th birthday and i can hardly control my blood sugars.Never mention how much efforts would it take for taking care of a little baby.NICE WORK!
I have been bombarded with comments like this since I posted videos about this a year ago. Yes, I do know that fruit is high in sugar but I think people forget that he is three years old. We don't restrict his diet. We were told that we don't need to. We feed him a well balanced diet. His numbers change all the time. Last week we dealt with constant lows and his diet didn't change. Carbs are important for a growing child too. He can be 85 when he goes to bed and 400 at 3am due to growth hormome
you are very strong mom, Henry is very lucky to have you as his mom. i get worried for everything, and get stressed if baby do not eat, or fall or cry.
He is one tough little boy. My five year old son has type one. He was diagnoised in august of 2012. He got really really sick. His blood sugar was over 1200. We are in the process of the pump. We have it but Ethan is affraid. We have are appointment today with the doctor. I showed Ethan this video so i hope this helps. Do you have any suggests? I seen another one of your videos. I like how he gets a suprise. I think that might help.
You are so sweet! Yes, we always poke off to the side. His poker is set up that way, so it pokes the side. I am so happy for you and your second baby BOY! YAY!!!!!
Hello, I was searching insulin pumps and came across this video. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 11, with little no help or support from my parents. I am now 26 and am just starting to properly manage. Kudos to you for being so involved. Hoping to get the approval for a pump by the end of the year. Definitely going to check into this one. Hope the little one is doing well
Thanks for this video! :) I do the same thing everyday with Charlie! I'd love to make a video similar to this once I get my channel up and running! I think about you guys often! You have helped make our journey with T1D a little easier. Your videos keep me going! Thank you and God bless! -CharliesMom (aka fordtmck)
awww..I was just reading about Diabetes ( medical student ) and came to this video, I wish all the best luck to this great little guy, sending a lot of blessings to him and wish the best in life. He seems so happy and he should stay like that all the life
Just found your video and I appreciate you for sharing your journey. My son has a glycogen storage disease where he gets dangerously low multiple times a day. I definitely understand what goes on in your mind as to every minute of my day also goes by thinking about my sons numbers. He is also only 18 months so I resonate with you. Prayers for a cure for all these horrible diseases.
I have a t1 diabetic that was diagnosed when he was 4. He enjoyed watching Henry. His name is John. I have been on an endless search for best diet for our little guy.It is a myth that they need carbs (I didn't even know what a carb was when he was diagnosed). Our body can manufacture carbs from fats and protein. We have recently read primal body/primal mind and Dr. Bernstein. Healthesolutions is also helpful. Good luck-it's a life changer like you said!
This was very interesting to watch. I went to HS with a girl who had a pump and would have to check hers throughout the day and make adjustments or have a snack/juice but I didn't understand it all. I had no idea about having to weigh everything. Praying for a cure! You are amazing parents and he is an amazing patient
Hello, my lil bro was diagnosed 16 years ago, type1, at age 1. There is a 9 yr gap between us. You guys probably already know this, but your doing an awesome job!!!! You seem to have the theory and practice down pat, however the behaviors are harder to anticipate and deal with. If you have any question on how we dealt with anything please ask im happy to share. Also my mother is a nurse and i have been present to every class and nearly every doc visit
You seem like your doing a great job with him, and to say he's so young he is taking everything so well. I was diagnosed at 1 years old and I am now 16. Everything gets easier as you get older.
My doc said no alcohol. We dont even wash before checking. W/ dex only check 2 to 3 times a day and avoid lows and highs. We also check toes, rarely fingers.
My 7 yr old son was diagnosed last week and its hard getting to grip with the injections and carb counting. I really feel for every parent and child in this situation
Great Video- Henry is such a good little man and you and your husband seem to work very well together that is a great accomplishment too- Been there- done that- it will be 12 years for us on the 29th. We actually now eyeball most of what our daughter eats and so that makes it a bit easier but your video and your daily carb counts reminds me of how it used to be- too long ago... I wish you all the best - and keep praying for a cure.
Thanks you so much for posting these videos and updates. I found out yesterday my baby cousin has type 1 diabetes and your videos are only adding support.
Not supposed to use alcohol swaps as it causes false lows when not dried properly. Correct way is poking finger. Wiping a dab off then testing. Clean hands with no visible dirt is all you need. I'm type 1 16 years now and work in healthcare
Great video, you out in a lot of effort to keep him safe. I was diagnosed with T1 two weeks ago and I was told I don't have to measure anything I eat but to just play around with my insulin doses. It's working so far but my sugars can definitely improve. I noticed you have a carb reference sheet on your fridge, did you make that yourself or did you find it on a website? I'd definitely like to have one!
I can only imagine how much you all appreciate the wireless insulin, that would add so much more work and struggle if you had to inject it. You guys are awesome parents, Henry's lucky to have you.
Omg I'm exhausted from watching you guys measure and test and calculate just in a video. Even when the day has been tough I should come back to this video and appreciate what I have. This is so challenging and Mind occupying regardless of how routine it is for your family. May god bless u n keep you guys strong as you have been. Good job Amy
When he gets older he’ll know how to calculate insulin and things like soda and pizza etc. plus him being skinny will be good as well. I don’t really count my carbs but my blood sugars are usually 90 to 130 although when his sugar is high it’s best to give him insulin and wait about an hour and then let him eat so he’s had time to come down
His A1C levels are really great! 7.3. Children go high just randomly..for example in the middle of the night he might be 200's 300's but he was 90 before bed. Growth hormone is the cause we were told. He goes through spurts. Lately we have been dealing with constant lows.
Great video. My 3 year old son was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes two weeks ago. Every thing in your video looks very familiar even thought it has only been two weeks for my wife and me. I like your scale and how it helps you count the carbs that is the hardest part for us especially in fruits and veggies. Good luck Henery
Thank you for sharing! Lord please bring a cure for all who are suffering from diabetes. Please help uplift all the little children that do have to go through this on a daily basis and don't understand why. Give each of the parents STRENGTH, and courage to keep going on day to day!!! Love you Amy!! You and your husband are so strong. Praying for you!!

My 7 yr old son was diagnosed last week and its hard getting to grip with the injections and carb counting. I really feel for every parent and child in this situation
Thank you Leah!
Wow I am amazed by your families strength!!! Prayers going your way!!!
I am 13 years old and have had type 1 diabetes since Halloween 2011. My current A1C is 6.7. Well done to you!
He is! Thank you!
Very impressed. My son (just tuned 9) has T1 for 6 months now... This is all so familiar!!
You guys are awesome. Seriously. Poor little guy.
Good to hear that it gets easier!
Keep up the grind!! Our was diagnosed at 1.. we know the deal!
hes such a brave boy to do all this!
When he gets older he’ll know how to calculate insulin and things like soda and pizza etc. plus him being skinny will be good as well. I don’t really count my carbs but my blood sugars are usually 90 to 130 although when his sugar is high it’s best to give him insulin and wait about an hour and then let him eat so he’s had time to come down
It is a Taylor brand scale from Target
So glad a found you , my two your old son was diagnosed Monday. It's been a whirlwind and so over whelming. Subscribed ❤️
