I thought about beefing up the engine on my 88 2.4 hardbody but after all the research I'd be investing a few thousand bucks for maybe 40 more hp. How much gains did this truck get from the upgrades? I plan on eventually swapping the z24 for a rotary. Keeps the weight down and plenty more power with upgrade options.
Curtis Spencer Correct, upgraded pistons, head gasket, head studs. He tuned it manually using his little interface module shown in the video. No dyno numbers but guessing around 300-325hp based on some calculations.
Hey brother! I know this has been posted a long while ago but I'm having issues starting mine. I have the injectors wired up and cranking over it sounds super healthy, no back fires so i assume roughly in correct timing, the only thing is I still have my stock truck ecu and do not have the MAF,IACV,TPS,SCV,and CPS wired in. Could this be my issue as to why it won't even sputter to life? It just cranks endlessly until killing eventually after several tries the battery. If you could do a very short video on it or just a comment with the explanation to get it bare bones to run I would really appreciate it! She's been down sense my freshmen year and now it's my J.R year and I would really like to drive her again as I loved it and was soooo fun to drive! So far it has its entire timing assembly redone sense it was sitting in the oil pan the guides, new gaskets everywhere on it such as timing cover gasket, front main seal, head gasket, oil pan gasket, mishimoto thermostat and gasket to water neck, so that fixed every leak it had minus the rear main seal lol it all had 3" thick of oil stacked on before i cleaned it and almost threw up with how disgusting it was looking at it for some reason lmaoo I'm no newbie to oil but sheesh that was nasty LOL. Anyways I would really appreciate it if you could help me figure out this issue I'm having! If it makes it easier to show my problem, my instagram is Lowkey_Sebs
I know this video is 0ld but I have a 1993 Nissa D21 2400 12-VALVE. I am trying to restor the car but I want it to be faster on the highway. Got a problem with the gears but i dont know much about it. If you can I like to see what I could do with the truck
kyle dennis He just modified the original manifold by cutting a hole in it and welding a rectangular turbo flange on it. So where the manifold went from 4 into 1, he added a turbo flange. Hope that makes sense
So finally picked up my spare engine so it needs a rebuild can you point me in the right direction as far as pistons want to find that before I start the tear down
Curtis Spencer Hey Curtis, just asked the owner. He has Wiseco ka24de pistons that make his compression ratio 8:1 (down from the stock 9:1). They only make them for the de engine, not the e. Stock rods, crank, cam, head.
Im looking to do a setup similar to yours I plan to build the bottom end so I can run more boost than 8-10 psi. Can you explain the safc setup and tuning setup was gonna do a standalone ecu but if I can use a piggy back setup I'd rather do that. How much hp you making like 300ish
Good to hear that! The Safc hooks up to the MAF sensor and only controls fueling. Timing was changed manually. You don't need to touch the bottom end for 10psi. Only forged pistons are required to get up to 400hp. Above that you will need forged rods as well. Stock crank is good up to 450hp. His truck runs about 300hp at the flywheel. Hope that helps!
Fran Fran R Yes I just talked to him. He said the turbo was in the way of the A/C lines. But he said these days it's pretty easy to get custom AC lines made, so you could go that route. Sorry for the delayed reply
It sounds cooler to say the engine is out of a 240SX than saying ,"its the same engine except the block has a couple more bolt holes and cast lines that get in the way and actually makes it fit a little worse"

I needed this video you just upgraded the pistons and tuned it yourself and your running about 12 psi or so of boost any hp and tq numbers

A vehicle isn't going to start without a crank position sensor. The rest of the stuff isn't helping, but it will 100% not start without the CPS lol.
Verify your timing is correct with a timing gun after as well since you did the timing chain.

I'll ask him about the rear end. As for emissions, luckily Indiana doesn't have emissions testing so it's not an issue :)
Danny Caminero Just found out it was an 89 pathfinder but had to have modifications to work, for the leaf spring mounts.

89-90 240sx intake with 240 MAF and computer (ECU)

bkhaja89 I can get t28 from stock s15 brand new for 400 and just really need a intercooler and lines and a safc for tuning
Curtis Spencer With 7psi he made 200hp at the wheels on a dyno, so at 10psi I would think you'd be in the 250-300hp range
