- Got this watch via a trade for a watch from my collection. Many thanks to Exquisite Timepieces in Naples Florida for making this deal, and once again treating me well. Go see Tyler over there....he does it right.
The Seiko diver extension works by pushing the closing clasp away from the clasp. So when it it is straight up, push it toward the diver extension part to release the tension on the extension and slide it out. When the clasp is returned to the upright or closed further it locks in the extension.
I'll give that a try. I'd like to think I'd have eventually stumbled on the solution.....but I probably wouldn't have. Thank you.

Hi Dane, all my GS divers with that clasp I just have to push the fold over clasp part toward 6, away from the clasp and it opens up the ratcheting mechanism. So basically open it up more.
I'll give that a try.....but it keeps being a hit and miss kind of thing. I'll figure it out eventually I'm sure.
That dial is a beautiful shade of blue. And though I’ve never had or used a compass bezel watch, I find compass bezels to be more dynamic and visually appealing than dive bezels. The notches at the cardinal points as well as the bevel on this piece look especially cool to me. Great trade-in choice, Dane!
I don't know how useful a compass bezel is or isn't, but it looks great. I love the watch. Glad you liked the video.
Would you buy this or the Omega rail master?
I would buy this. I love Omega watches.....I own several.....but I'm not a fan of the Railmaster. This SLA071 is gorgeous.
Seiko makes some really nice timepieces, without question!

I’ve probably asked you this before, but do you have a favorite brand of watch?
You have, but I'm happy to say it again:
In the micro brand space there is none better than Zelos. They are the gold standard for micro brands, and I love the product.
In the main stream space my favorite brand hands down is Breitling. Nobody does chronographs better, and I love chronographs. But I also have great affection for Omega and Rolex too.

So many great watches. It becomes tough to choose. Especially since I can only grab one every so often (like 2 a year lol)

Well,i do have a suggestion , try the steeldive sd1953 starbucks on a jubile bracelet and the steeldive 1970 , of course if is not below your league , i ' m very curious to see your opinion on some inexpensive watches that are copying legendary design
I have heard good things about Steeldive. Just haven't gotten the chance to get one in to play with. And while I understand what you're saying, rest assured for me there is no such thing as "below your league" with me. I have watches in my collection across a vast spectrum of cost.....love 'em all.

Did your crown feel firm or did it warble?
Feels firm to me. Why do you ask? Are there issues with the crown?
@@saleendriver it feels mush. Like when I pull it out the head moves around but it totally functional.
Mine feels fine. Might need to take it to a watch maker, have them remove the crown and stem and reattach the crown to the stem, maybe with some Loctite. It might just be a loose crown on the stem. I hope its not a problem beyond that.
