    I absolutely love this table runner. It is so easy to make and it looks beautiful. I have made several. I made one for Christmas that has pinecones , the middle piece is white background with sparkle and pinecones and the backing is allover pinecones. Came out gorgeous. Also made one with Christmas cardinals on front and plain black on the back...it's gorgeous also. Just some ideas for you.

    Thanks! I understand the need for the commercials (frankly, I sort of fast forward through them so they don't bother me much!) I decided to do a table runner just this week, and was going to use strips for the middle. Was unsure how to finish - this will be perfect. I have been sewing for years, but am just venturing into quilting and craft sewing. You are a great presenter - clear and easy to follow. And I love your husband's cameo appearances, lol !

    That was a really good tutorial. Your calm voice is very easy to listen to. I have to say though, that I watched the very end of the video where you were supposed to cut 5.5 inches off, but if you check, I think you only cut 4.5 inches off, but I’m sure 2 total inches wouldn’t make a difference. I got a metre of fabric recently so it’ll be perfect to make the exact one you just showed us. Thanks so much! Excellent.

      @@susieinthecountry4434 I love sewing and The Sewing Room Channel has been a dream come true. While the channel is a wonderful hobby and true passion of mine, there are time & cost associations to running the channel that people often don’t realize. For example - cost of materials to make the projects, camera, lighting, & audio equipment, computer programs for editing, etc. (The list could go on and on). In addition, one video tutorial can take an average of 15 to 20 hours to make & produce. Factoring in prep for the tutorial, filming, editing, etc. The Sewing Room Channel relies on advertising and sponsors to keep the channel alive, so that I can continue to provide free video sewing tutorials. Again, I love what I do. I LOVE sewing. I am extremely grateful for all my viewers and their support of my channel. It truly means the world to me. Running The Sewing Room Channel and providing free content brings me nothing but joy and puts a smile on my face everyday.

    Sherrill, I make these runners all the time. I put iron-on interfacing behind the middle fabric to give it body. When done, I sew around the middle section a quarter inch around the whole thing (on the border fabric). The problem is the middle always bubbles up and does not lay flat. Do you have any ideas to prevent this? I don't quilt the middle. Thanks, love your videos!

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  3 года назад +2

      Hi Ann. I use heavy iron on interfacing in the middle section. Your stitch length in your seams might be lengthened. It is the only thing I can think of that would cause the fabric to pucker/bubble up. Try this on a small piece of fabric to see it that helps. Let me know how it works out. Stay safe. Thanks for watching , and happy sewing.

      Hi Kim. Since I don't how wide you want it to be do this:
      -Cut a piece of paper your desired finish width plus 5 inches
      -Fold opposite edges over a few inches to determine how wide the center fabric needs to be.
      - Add seam allowance to both pieces of fabric.

    I love your videos, I'm confused on one thing, how would I figure out I'd I wanted it shorter length and width for a little table example a 3 ft table?

      Hi Shannon. Decide how many inches wide you want the top center section. Then double that size for the width of the fabric for the back/border. Add 1/2" for seam allowance on both pieces. If you want the runner 36" long, cut one strip for each of the pieces. Cut those strips in the same way that was demonstrated in the video. Fold the fabric with selvage edges together and cut your strips. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
