It drives me crazy when I see comments like "too many notes" or "no emotion" when talking about Hadrien Feraud. Dismissing his virtuosity like that makes no sense to me. Just because he can play extremely fast and because he uses many long phrases doesn't make him play "without emotion." People just get so jealous of musicians like him, and to make themselves feel better about their most likely inferior ability just say stuff like "oooh yeah well uh he's not using space so he must suck."
Agree completely! There's another video of a free form Jazz trio and this guy, Bob Schnob, said that music with patterns wasn't music! I was like... whaaat?? I eventually called him a troll. Lol!
well some people find Virtuosity often gets in the way of saying the same thing with less notes. I am sure he knows where he is going and what he is saying , but the listener what a connection... watching Hadrien is watching Him have a moment with himself....LMAO
Troy Tolbert well yes this man is brilliant and really talented and I as a musician I love watching him play but this is musicians music. I would never bump this anywhere tbh other than around other musicians.
They have to find someone to criticize, they're unable to use their right hands for their main pass time with jerkins lotion for 6 months due to job injuries at the Horse clinic. They're professional sphincter wart removers, at home they're pro Beef pullers.
Everyone here talking about the drummer and the bass player but nobody even have the keyboard player/guitarist any props! Hadrien great and he plays in harmony with the keys and guitar player even amongst his quick solos. That's what makes him a great bass player in my opinion (I'm also a bass player)
They do that nightly while their wife's out til 6 a.m. assisting bar guys handling their Viagra reactions, she doesn't want them to stroke out from over 4 hours or so she donates hours to aid it's release to shrink mechanism.
Chris Coleman kicks ass. But there is no living bassist better than Feraud. He uses no tricks, nada, just two finger right hand picking and he manages to play faster than bass players that use tricks.
He is executing like all great masters of phrase and speech on their instrument. And just know the context is about showcasing the extreme of your talent in these NAMM based shows.
its always the ones who cant do what someone else can do, that critisizes n says what he didnt do...... when u can do what he does, and do it better, then comment directly to him. I believe he is intelligent enough to know how to be disciplined when its time. as far sa his solos, his speed is what makes him him.... you like melodic playing, then go play your bass melodically. meanwhile people like me will shed to get speed like this. then find melody if thats a weakness.. thanx. keep playin dude
One has to have compassion for drummers in this scenario... they have one of their partners in groove creation jump ship with an anchor. They are left alone to hold down the fort. As Victor explains, when there is a bass solo it's time to get a drink. Why? The best part of the music just left town.
I'm not jealous at all, I personally chose the bass because it's like a man of few words, who only speaks when needed but you can't dismiss what he says. From my point of view a solo is kind of a speech and this guy - hats off to his wonderful technique and knowledge of his instrument - just reminds me more of my mom talking rubbish than of Charlie Parker, or Jaco or whoever other great virtuoso soloist phrasing. Man, its first solo is like my warm up routine at double-speed and nothing more.
do you really think Richard Bona is overrated? Can you please explain why you feel that way? Are you a bass player? Everyone is of course entitled to their own opinions, but I was shocked to see your comment say that. please let me know why you feel that way, I have watched countless videos on who many consider to be the top bass players around (hence why i'm watching Hadrien) and personally think Richard is a genius. Please let me know why you feel that way. Thanks
The first one especially! what the fuck what the fuck peopleee!if u can't hear the music in this piece of art, and improvised, sorry for you! masterpiece!
For the record you are right everybody plays some sort of licks and who ever says they do not is a liar and I do think Richard Bona is More melodic than Hadrien Most of the time But Richard can sing too and that help just like it helps George Benson. singers can hear those notes in their head better
@24maart1986 Nahhh he travels where the gig calls him to play but he lives in L.A. and L.A. is one of the cities where all the top guys do play and record.
I don't know who "steenbass" is, so just for the record, I, Larry Steen (a bassist) didn't make the comment above. Hadrien is a monster musician and because his lines are so interesting, I have no problems with the amount of notes.
@flodaddylongleg it don't keep your technique light it makes every note you play even, so you don't under shoot or over shoot the notes and therefore allows faster playing :o)
I love his ability play fast I wish I could play that fast ,, anyway after first song there is no differences between song 1 , 2, 3 ,, etc it's always the same sound improve
Hi Eli here coming back from a few months of quarantine shed, this is probably not Havona 😂 just contains a chord progression here and there that sounds like it
@@elinaragon5051 while I agree that this isn’t Havona, it isn’t just some random improvisation, it’s an actual song. this is the same song played by Thundercat ruclips.net/video/_4gLs0eOKGU/видео.html
it's not just the great note selection or the chops, it's the magic touch of groove he's got with these incredible lines.
agreed it would still sound good if he played the most atonal stuff with his time feel/groove
He doesn't play too fast, he just has a lot to say...
his right hand articulation is mesmerizing, his left hand is alien

in other words … he is a musical masturbator
It really is jealousy, his musicality in all of these clips is amazing
Troy Tolbert well yes this man is brilliant and really talented and I as a musician I love watching him play but this is musicians music. I would never bump this anywhere tbh other than around other musicians.
GREAT MUSICIANS DON'T NEED ANY EXPLANATION THEY JUST PLAY. brilliant playing in my eyes.
After 10 years... Hadrien is still great.
But all the negative comments are really shame. I hope they are living their life better.
They have to find someone to criticize, they're unable to use their right hands for their main pass time with jerkins lotion for 6 months due to job injuries at the Horse clinic. They're professional sphincter wart removers, at home they're pro Beef pullers.
He still maintains the groove while playing at a fast speed; in my opinion he nailed it!!!
The interaction between Hadrien and the drummer is amazing.
That last groove in 7.5/4 was insane!!! Mad props to the whole band that made it feel natural!!!
7.5/4 lol you mean 15/8?
Nope. I meant 7.5/4. The pulse is being marked on the quarter note; not the eighth note.
@@rramos07 Lol
@@rramos07 that doesn't even exist, never heard of it or anyone mention it, there are just better ways to describe it xd
@@ZeeewFFA Ok sounds good lol
Couldn't stop watching Chris Coleman....he's so happy...:-)))
That man is not a man, he is superman... or bass guy... or optimus bass. Or something like that. Either way he is superhuman! :D
Haha optimus bass 😂😂😂😂👊🏾
World's happiest drummer
Amazing stuff, always makes me want to practice after watching his videos :)
groovy? .... yes,

A young man with a big spectacular career. A great level of interpretation .Super melodic.

Hadrien is a monster!! Love those last 2 minutes of the video!!
Its amazing!!!!!!!! Fantastic baby. I wanna be musician like hadrian!!
Word, bro. We are just bass players doin our thing.
If Hadrien's fingers had lungs they'd be gasping for air.
That's why he's not using his lungs. ;) and fingers can go forever
great beat , rhythm scomposition and great open of hands (hadrien)
Why would anybody split hairs, make comparisons or critique talent that is this awesome ? ? ? Kick back and enjoy the brilliance!

im a bassist and I found myself watching Chris Coleman. So sick!
Chris Coleman kicks ass. But there is no living bassist better than Feraud. He uses no tricks, nada, just two finger right hand picking and he manages to play faster than bass players that use tricks.
Feraud es de otro planeta. Uno de los mejores que vi, QUE ANIMAL!!!

La última pieza es un 17/8, o más bien un 7/4 + 3/8, maravillosa!
Great drummer.
OMG crazy stuff!!
that drummer is cooking up some tasty beats!
Gary Willis was the first I know of who used the ramp...keeps your technique light.

Was JUST thinking the same thing
From 6:00 on, it’s just everything music is supposed to be.
Just Too much!!
And Chris Coleman is just killing on drums playing through 15/8 with so much ease!

yes
omg that bass player
monster player
6:28 - Chris is there to chew bubble gum and kick ass on drums, and he all ran out of gum. What a player. 🤘
I didn't know Boris Becker played bass!
im so glad had is getting better.... it would have been a real shame if he had not
6:17 and beyond is the ultimate drum and bass conversation.
...a magnificent mind :-) Love his fluidity and phrasing. Reminds me of John Patitucci. Bibbity, bobbiity boo! lol
Awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! :)
He may talk much but it's how he got so great and became famous. I'm sure his "talk" will lessen when he gets older.
I agree
That's because its Chris Coleman. Pure talent
For the record you are right everybody plays some sort of licks and who ever says they do not is a liar and I do think Richard Bona is More melodic than Hadrien Most of the time But Richard can sing too and that help just like it helps George Benson. singers can hear those notes in their head better

this is just ridiculous. it takes years and years to reach this level...
Fantastic
Who was that drummer? I think I've seen him on a Vater catalog.
@Kuuuks The last drummer is Chris Coleman I should have said, I know the first guy isn't, and the second guy is Ron Bruner at Namm wit had Im sure.
