"Blacksmith's armor showing some gaps in it, it looks like Michael Strahan's smile" Two killer robots in the ring, but the biggest savage in the room is the one commentating behind the desk
What makes this arguably the best fight in Battlebots history is pacing. It starts off slow and it even looks like Blacksmith has the upper hand at first, but Minotaur just slowly gains more an more momentum throughout and each time you think you’ve seen the hit of the match, there’s an even bigger one that comes along. Amazing that the ref doesn’t even bother with a ten count either, just immediately calls it, don’t think I’ve seen that anywhere else.
All the best looking bots were kinda useless. There was a team that appeared on the show a few times, these guys were true artists, they made the most elegant, beautiful bots you've ever seen, like a snake and a spider, they were works of art....but they were beyond useless. The simplest designs with the most basic of weaponry always won.
Maybe would have been better with a spike at the end of the hammer. Problem is the hammer was so heavy while the main body was not heavy enough, so it wasnt transferring all its weight into the strike.
The guy's face at 2:50 is priceless! :D Anyway Minotaur is a good robot. It's small and fast and its drum is one of the best weapons ever because it's a one-piece weapon, it's not too exposed to an enemy's attack and, being very heavy, it exploits the inertia it takes while it rolls, and that makes its attacks very dangerous. The weakness is the low reliability (2 wheels only)... but afterall every robot has some weakness
+h0m3st4r true true... actually the biggest weak is not the reach... but the weapon itself... when it spins at High RPM the drum acts as a gyroscope and makes minotaur hard to manage.... on the other side, it doesn't care at all if it gets flipped!
I absolutely LOVE the concept of all these bots in battle bots with complex mechanisms and well-thought out weapons and minotaur is just "fast spin go vroom?"
The more complex your machine, the more likely it is to fail under stress conditions. look at minotaur and tombstone and bite force. Simple and effective
That’s because the original version on Comedy Central did it right with multiple weight classes and enough entries to be worthy of running as long as it did, and it should have lasted a lot longer. The ABC remake, by comparison, is a travesty and borderline unwatchable for us purists. I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve never seen a decisive finisher Ike that before or since, though.
Blacksmith’s hammer is basically useless. I would stick my hand under it. In blacksmith’s fight against captain shrederator, captain shrederator used plastic on the top of their robot. Blacksmith hit the top armor at least 12 times and it did nothing. PLASTIC!
My boss who is like alot older then me just loves this show ! I miss going to work at his house ( make shift office in house lol ) drinking coffee smokeing pot and watching this. I never interrupted him as this is like your teacher telling you a story. Its called Moral and thats what drives good workers.
Well, to be fair, human combat sports used to also be entertaining just like this... back in antiquity when they consisted of human opponents actually hurting and killing each other.
Kinda expensive, need a big brain and lots of engineering and work, after the fight one goes down and repairs are too high, after all, after few fights, we all know those very expensive, very heavy and big robots will just sit in peoples basements and garages. That are mostly the reasons why is it such a small community

Robot fighting often has joke robots. people want to play and they know they can't win so they try to have fun and make it interesting. If I had to build something right now with my resources and fight Blacksmith my stuff would get crushed so I would try to make it as ridiculous as possible. Maybe a wet beanbag on a $20 R/C car with a pointy stick. Bring it, Blacksmith. They would make me cover the pointy sick for safety.
At this moment used battle robots have no neurons or neuron analogs so they can not feel pain or hopelessness or sadness. If/when they will use neuron analogs, however...
And it was. This season they put a bigger, heavier drum on Minotaur...but then it didn't spin anywhere near as fast, took forever to spin up, and was basically useless. Old Minotaur is so much better.
Michel Schweinsberg They simply got the gear ratio wrong. It was geared way too much for torque against Whiplash, and the drum was digging the floor against Gigabyte. They finally got these issues ironed out in the latter half of the season.
At first I was like : "That small cube with a tazer has nothing against a fire hammer" But then it was like "Holy sh*t that hammer bot is fu*king dead"
You go into the competition knowing it can happen, and repairing damage is part of the fun, so it's not as bad as it seems. It sucks when your bot catches on fire though and you know the electronics are lost
I mean, World of Tanks got popular enough that Girls Und Panzer became a thing. So it's not entirely unreasonable. But BB would need to surge in popularity.
Minotaur, or more accurately Minotaur's pilot, has a real talent for sniffing out weakness and exploiting it. Minotaur fights by targeting the weakest points of armor and weapons and breaking them down with pinpoint precision; its incredibly accurate with its weapon, which is more than powerful enough despite its size, and the driver knows exactly how to put its momentum exactly where he wants it. I always find its matches more interesting than something like the HUGE spinners which are basically rocket tag. idk, maybe thats just me

I mean it’s not too often you see bots completely ripped open, explode, and burst into flames.
I love how that hammer looks so good, but it's absolutely horrendous 😂
All the best looking bots were kinda useless. There was a team that appeared on the show a few times, these guys were true artists, they made the most elegant, beautiful bots you've ever seen, like a snake and a spider, they were works of art....but they were beyond useless. The simplest designs with the most basic of weaponry always won.
Like the hypershock vs warrior clan match
Maybe would have been better with a spike at the end of the hammer. Problem is the hammer was so heavy while the main body was not heavy enough, so it wasnt transferring all its weight into the strike.
Beta has the best hammer
Was the hammer effective against any other bots? From this video it seems that the hammer is much too underpowered to do any real damage
The guy's face at 2:50 is priceless! :D
Anyway Minotaur is a good robot.
Perhaps Minotaur's greatest weakness is its puny reach, a common problem with Lightning Bruisers in just about any competition.
Minotaur is tough as fuck, too
It got hammered a ton and didn't give half a fuck
+h0m3st4r true true... actually the biggest weak is not the reach... but the weapon itself... when it spins at High RPM the drum acts as a gyroscope and makes minotaur hard to manage.... on the other side, it doesn't care at all if it gets flipped!
+Ian Partrick (TwisTed R3V3NG3) that's also because blacksmith's hammer was quite light (look at the way it bounces when it breaks up)
FOX-POP-YT Even so, it was swung really hard.
I too think that if it fights Tombstone it''s lack of reach will screw it
There should be a battle-bots videogame where you can make your own bot, customize it and all and make it fight. I'd pay for it.
To the top sir, let's make you visible
they had robot war the game almost 10 yrs back. let's hope they remake a upgrade version
turn out they do have a new update.

You might enjoy Robot Arena II. It's a bit old, but it's the closest to BattleBots as you get.
Look up Robot Arena 2, and install the DSL mod, or Robot Wars mod.
No for real. It was one of the best competition matches ever happened on this planet.
I like how Minotaur's operator goes into this calm fury.
I absolutely LOVE the concept of all these bots in battle bots with complex mechanisms and well-thought out weapons and minotaur is just "fast spin go vroom?"
If it is useless it's not well tough out lmao, maybe just creative
The more complex your machine, the more likely it is to fail under stress conditions. look at minotaur and tombstone and bite force. Simple and effective
Spinners seem to be the meta for battlebots

I forgot how much I loved BattleBots. So many good memories of watching that as a kid
I have never seen such hostility emit from someone’s face like that
Hes like a male bull, wait to charge the lion the kxller of his baby
lol yea
Who will win?
A big steel tank with scary fire breathing hammer that could knock whatever it is in their way
Or
One smol cube boi.
If the hammer bros bot operator's were smart, they'd add wires/barbed wire around their bot to tangle the spinning drum, legal?

Blacksmith’s hammer is basically useless. I would stick my hand under it. In blacksmith’s fight against captain shrederator, captain shrederator used plastic on the top of their robot. Blacksmith hit the top armor at least 12 times and it did nothing. PLASTIC!

*Size doesn't matter....*
Both bots are the same weight and Minotaur's weapon is way heavier than Blacksmith's.

Because it's too random
Kinda expensive, need a big brain and lots of engineering and work, after the fight one goes down and repairs are too high, after all, after few fights, we all know those very expensive, very heavy and big robots will just sit in peoples basements and garages. That are mostly the reasons why is it such a small community
@@petarmarjanovic4607 I think they are asking why as a spectator why isn't this as popular. It has all the elements but there's something missing.

THIS is how i wish almost every battlebot fight ended, with the losing bot destroyed and engulfed in flames.
Yeah but then it would be like a few episodes per season cause it would take ages to repair
Then you would love the tombstone and rotator fight just recently.

ElMatador Game200000000 no liquid fires allowed, looks like they had a gas leak
The whole hammer looked pretty ineffective
Keiji3G It was damaged in the previous fight
Robot fighting often has joke robots. people want to play and they know they can't win so they try to have fun and make it interesting. If I had to build something right now with my resources and fight Blacksmith my stuff would get crushed so I would try to make it as ridiculous as possible.
Maybe a wet beanbag on a $20 R/C car with a pointy stick. Bring it, Blacksmith.
They would make me cover the pointy sick for safety.

Boxing, MMA, Wrestling: Hi.
This was one of the Best Battles I've ever witnessed. Blacksmith fought like hell.
Yea minotaur is going to be nerfed in the next patch for sure.
And it was.
This season they put a bigger, heavier drum on Minotaur...but then it didn't spin anywhere near as fast, took forever to spin up, and was basically useless.
Old Minotaur is so much better.
Hes getting a nerf soon I can feel it.
Actually, the competition got improvements
Michel Schweinsberg They simply got the gear ratio wrong. It was geared way too much for torque against Whiplash, and the drum was digging the floor against Gigabyte. They finally got these issues ironed out in the latter half of the season.

At first I was like : "That small cube with a tazer has nothing against a fire hammer"
But then it was like "Holy sh*t that hammer bot is fu*king dead"

Then you realize that the fire hammer doesn’t do shit
It's not even a taser, that's a spinner.
@@davidj3841 someone who's not into battlebots could easily take it for a tazer: a big, solid yellow cylinder (when spinning obviously).
The sight of grown men screaming for joy over robots will never get old
I can’t imagine how bad it feels when you see your robot get demolished
People that build hammer robots seem to enjoy that
You go into the competition knowing it can happen, and repairing damage is part of the fun, so it's not as bad as it seems. It sucks when your bot catches on fire though and you know the electronics are lost
@@ScampiTheSighted fire is the worst to repair

bruh that hammer is useless haha, did absolutely no damage even on clean hits
It serves dual purposes tho, one to hammer people and two to flip itself up

If I was good at drawing, and could animate, and could make quality videos, I would do that.
I always find its matches more interesting than something like the HUGE spinners which are basically rocket tag. idk, maybe thats just me
I agree. The pilot's skill is always on full display. Might be the best in the game.
The way that robot burst into flames was something straight out of The Simpsons
When you thought blacksmith was gonna wreck havoc
