Performance notes:
Composed in 1904, Vittorio Monti’s “Csárdás” has been widely performed over the years, both by the originally intended violin and by many other instruments. This arrangement is written primarily for solo cornet (trumpet/flugelhorn) or solo euphonium/baritone. It might also be performable on trombone, but it is most probable the tempo would need to be moderated to some extent.
Metronome marks are not given to allow flexibility to the performer, but the last section should be played as fast as possible. The slow section which begins the piece allows for quite a lot of rubato. The performer need not feel too constrained by the specific affectations called for on the page. The player may additionally choose to add additional rubato in the faster sections. Most important is that the playful, dancing quality of the music be maintained.
The running 16th-note passages may be articulated just as shown on the page, or if the performance is too heavy or perhaps uneven with so much double-tonguing, some slurring may be added to facilitate a bit more melodic sound from the player.

It's to late for me. I've already started putting myself through this torture. I can't go back now.
Just give it time! You'll get there eventually! But yes it can be frustrating😅
Oh my goodness, that was amazing! Love how your snuck up on those octave slurs. I think you used a month's worth of technique in four minutes. You are amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Very kind of you David, thank you very much!
"Not playing along with you" 😜... is helping me a lot to improve staying in tune during high register. Thanks and congrats for your amazing performance. 👏👏👏
Glad you enjoy the content friend!

Best performance I’ve heard on this fun piece. Bravo!
Thank you very much Craig, glad you enjoyed it :)
the clarity in your sound and articulation are absolutely bananas. well done.
I absolutely fell in love with this piece of music, and have been planning to play it as my final in Senior year since I heard it. (At least the first 22 measures)
Now with my music teacher leaving this year (my senior year) for a better paying job and a different school I think this will be a very nice note to end off on. Thank you so much
Beautifully done! Wonderful tone, too.
Que trabajo tan limpio y tono tan claro. Gracias por clase 👍
Oh, and MY GOD, excellent playing!
Lyrical, beatiful singing, perfect articulation, clear double tounging, spot on intonation,... just perfect!
*chef's kiss*
And that high note? Just...HOW??😱

All I can say is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. You are so precise in all the tones no matter whether it is a slow portion or a fast portion. I love it so much. It is definitely a piece to play in the morning and it will set the mood for the rest of the day. Thank you so much.

Glad you enjoyed it friend!
Complimenti, suono pulito e fluido, è una bella tecnica, mi è sempre piaciuto suonare eufonio, e il flicorno tenore, essendo un trombone a pistoni 👍🏻👍🏻
Your insane man
A crazy final section
Favoloso
Wow! 👍
meus parabéns muito bom...
Thank you!
That was brilliant, thanks! I've played it myself years ago but sadly I dont have time anymore to practice very often. What a great reminder and motivation to practive more often!
That is one piece of music that you must practice often to get it down perfectly!
This song is a bit out of my skill range but I'm gonna try to play it next year, and start practicing soon
Good job
Thank you!
high G is crazy!!!
Very beautiful!!! But I think I like the brass ensemble more! Well done!
Fair point Dominic. Also, reach out to Drew, he had a chance to analyze your piece in more detail. He has some feedback just didn't have time to email you yet :)
P.S. I asked him to send you feedback, because with all honesty, his opinion will be more educated on this than mine :D
@@Matonizz Perfect!!! Thank you so much!
have you ever thought about doing dci/dca?
hello!
What should I do to get the high tone out?
Excuse me, may I have the euphonium sheet music?
Thank you very much ❤
Love your music ~

Wow! How do you articulate so cleanly?!? On the recorder you use consonants pairs like t-k-t-k or d-g-d-g. Is it similar on the euphonium?
as a recorder playert that played trombone, oboe and tenor trumprt before, we all use the same method (t-k-t-k) for double tounging
That was crazy. How long did you practice?
Thanks Ellen, took me few months to get the fast sections nice and tidy :)
do not play along indeed..... when are you gonna play the "grand russian fantasia" or gypsy airs for us ? would love to hear them! Best wishes and lots of love from Bulgaria. ( :
Both pieces are on the list so they are coming out at some point for sure. I believe Drew has already started arranging Gypsy Airs. I might just give him a reminder :D
@@Matonizz you both intimidate and inspire Al, since i first stumbled onto one of your videos......what is more, like all great player you are humble. Just massive respect! It is because of players like you that people might one day know what a Euphonium is. :D #you play a what ?
and THIS boys and girls....are why scales are SOOOOOOOOO important!!!! remember that!!!!!!
Spot on!
would love to hear you play Edwin Franko Goldman’s scherzo 😮
only the beginning part 🙈 the rest is boring
Honestly, never heard of it. Will check it out for sure :)
WOW😢
Would it be possible to do some kind of payment plan for the horn bundle?
I think so, although we would have to make a custom order for you. Email me at euphonium.legends@gmail.com and I'll get you some options
Посоветуйте пожалуйста какой мундштук выбрать на баритон.
What in the world omg
Thank you Matthew!
AND WE HAVE LIFTOFF!
We sure do :D From 10 to 100 in a second :D
Is this different from your last video of this piece
I used the same solo recording but we made a piano accompaniment instead of brass septet :)
I see. Very well done as always!
Why not play the melody at MM 58? You could give yourself a very short break then begin again if you really needed it, which I don't think you'd need the break ;)
well ... after watching that, I'm selling my euphonium. LOL. Don't think I'll ever get quite to that level of playing, my fingers and tongue do not like to work together on faster stuff. Also one of these days I need to upgrade my euphonium, currently playing on an old G. Alexander European shank its ok and serves its purpose for now.
Don't be too hard on yourself. I've been doing this daily for almost 25 years now. This arrangement however, can be very playable if you were to choose your own tempos and tempi. I might have played it a bit fast, but that's mainly because people love hearing this type of stuff :)
I PLAYED ALONG!!! How do you like it
Super a 😱
✌
i dont think ill play along this time
