Total land pooled up for Amaravati is 33,000 acres i.e. about 120 Sq.Kms. It is nearly equal to the lands acquired for Vizag steel Plant long ago. There is no harm in developing it as capital city at Amaravati. But it will take longer period with construction of all Govt buildings ab nd ultimately join the adjoining Vijayawada VMC which is about 63 Sq.Kms. It will remain as a capital of A.P with Govt buildings comparable to Naya Raipur , capital of Chhattisgarh. It will take at least 39 years to grow to the size o f Chandighar, a greenfield city of two rich states , Punjab and Haryana. Compared to this , the area of Vizag is 681.96 Sq. Kms which is bigger than present Hyderabad GHMC which is about 650 Sq.Kms. The present population of Vizag is 23 lakhs and City GDP is 53 billion $. It forms nearly 1One third of states GSDP' Vizag has developed as the largest economy contributing to states development because of its large scale industrial development of Public sector as well as Private enterprises. and also having an improvement of service sector with IT and tourism. If the state focuses on Amaravati, the funds for development will be depleted and in the long run, neither Amaravati nor Vizag will be developed as much as they can. One sould realize the realities and should not political stand in this regard. Instead the Govt should take up the coasta; corridor where ADP granted assistance. Eventhough this id first corridor sanctioned by the centre nothing has moved. If this is taken up the Indutries and manufacturing sector will be dispersed through out the coastal atea and small urban townships with industrial and servoce secor development and reduce large scale migrant labour to Hyderabad and other cities from A.P. This will make A.P get back its formal glory to become number 2 economy when the combined AP existed.
