- Classic Game Room HD reviews TENCHU SHADOW ASSASSINS for the Sony PSP (Playstation Portable) handheld game system. This Classic Game Room reviews of Tenchu Shadow Assassins has gameplay footage from Shadow Assassins published by Ubisoft. Watch ninja stealth action set in Feudal Japan in this third person perspective video game. Hide in the shadows, lurk beneath steps or in bushes, climb ceiling rafters and assassinate enemy guards on missions to complete the storyline. Play as two different characters, master numerous ninja weapons and play on the go with the PSP. The bite sized missions and numerous save points make Tenchu Samurai Assassins an entertaining game to pick up and play on the bus or between classes. Graphics and sounds aren't bad and the Sony UMD can be had at a reasonable cost. If slow paced strategy ninja samurai games with thought and style are what you're looking for then Tenchu may be the answer. This is a review of the Tenchu Samurai Assassins PSP version. Classic Game Room now reviews Sony PSP video games as a PSP reviewer reviewing PSP games like Tenchu Shadow Assassins. Includes gameplay from Tenchu Shadow Assasins for the Sony PSP showing the ninjas in action!
I don't know much about the PSP. But these graphics look pretty darned good for a handheld!
God I love the Tenchu series in all its cheesy flawed awesomeness! 4:55 is just plain cool!
I appreciate how they just memed it instead of taking it too seriously
one of my favorite games going onto my favorite hand held console...epic
soooo would you recommend this game if i were to buy it. i like ninja games like red ninja which looks similar to this, well i think so anyway.
I don't know really think the guards are dumb. I just assume that they just might be sleepy or getting bored until they get demotivated.
Damn pretty intense violent game! ;P Anyway great to see ya review a PSP game, Mark!
Funny review too.
Pfft ROTFLMFAO it’s not violent it’s just swords(obviously nobody today uses swords to k*ll anyone)these are swords fights in children stuff, but if it was with guns then it will be violent, these are facts.
How does this compared to the Tenchu on the PS2? My girlfriend absolutely LOVED the one on the PS2 and was thinking about getting this her, worth it?
In some special corners in the game you can climb up and hide which I didnt know until I was almost done with the game.
Another great ninja game for PSP is Shinobido:tales of the ninja. You can sneak up on guards or just run up and slash them.
Gonna buy tenchu and shinobido for psp when I move back to usa
I liked the PSOne Tensu a lot I recall it being a lot more stealthy
Good work, Mark. You should review the Wii version of Shadow Assassins.
*dramatically* "uh I've ba-reathed my final breath, no uh that's my final breath. One more final breath....now I'm....dying it's getting cold."
I love Mark's impersonations of the guards! Funny as hell.
Yeh I probably might get this game at some point now, after this review, I'm with the reviewer on some of his comments about the sound when the guards get killed and sounds being too loud,
and dialogue of the characters being in English and not Japanese is so true, I got Tenchu on the ps2 and the same things are there so I feel pain of un stealthness realism at times in Tenchu
but good review really gave a good account of the game, comments were hilarious and funny and fair, but good, thanks
" Just wait your turd!!"
LMAO, possibly the funniest piece of dialogue I have heard in sometime in a game. I think the iffy voice acting adds to it as well lol!
This game is not like the originals from the PS1 but this one is a lot better than the ones from PS2.
Lots of fun, catching those guys off guard. :D
Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven (Tenchu 3) - Am I a joke to you?
Did you use the psp video cables to record this?
Tenchu 1 and 2 are the best ones...
lol i love your reviews. i always assumed you didn't like stealth action games since you never review them. if you like this then do some splinter cell games. those are also incredibly difficult. and i remember you saying in some of your reviews how you like how hard classic games can be. so there ya go! its perfect
tenchu 2 on ps1...classic!
And 1
a kurosawa themed samurai vendetta game in black and white would be AWESOME!!!
They're both stealth games at heart, it's just that Splinter Cell is arguably the more traditional of the two, since Assassin's Creed always makes you run away in full alert mode after taking down a target.
Why does the music sound so much like the music from Bastion? Did they use the same samples or something?
i like tenchu z. you customize your own ninja was cool
whats the song at the intro with the red screen?
how'd you get a built in mic on your psp? i only have the $30 one
Great review.
When are they ever gonna make one of these Tenchu games for the PC?!?
Why this game didn't release on PS3 or PS4, it doesn't make any sense...
This guy got an epic voice...he could be a comedian!
does exist some way to play this game on single mode with out be on wi-fi or play with somebody else
Damn, those Japanese sure love their bushes. They're everywhere!
Japanese whining falcon... brilliant. And first psp review! Can't wait to see some more!
I agree with Mark about it should have had Japanese talking with English subs it would give it more of the Ninja feel.
do you play your psp on the t.v
stealthy ninjas.you gotta love them.
Nice Review!
Damn you need to review tenchu z too!
Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen. Great game! But it's not a Shinobi game, though. Shinobi was on the Nintendo 3DS, most recently. Also a great game!
I miss the old Tenchu gamplay and storylines
=\
Ok so this is one of the funniest videos you made xD good job ;)
You guys should review the vita shinobi game.
Yes my thoughts exactly, I would of loved the game to have the original Japanese track with subtitles in the cut scenes and important dialog. I'm not to sure but I think it's easier than Tenchu for the PS1 but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have the dismembering the first had. Oh and why are there always women with large "cleavages" in this feudal ninja games seeing what harsh lives they had during that period.
go to the end 8:20 he will then talk some about the game.
how many levels are there?
how do you film psp games?
You have to make more PSP reviews :) like God of War Chains of Olympus.
I was laughing throughout this whole review, love this guy rofl.
They're very different games, true, but not entirely disimilar. Splinter Cell just has more replay value, not to mention the utterly unique and compelling online mode in the later games.
resistance and god of war should be your next psp games really those are really good quality games maybe the best yet
Tenchu has been around for a number of years. Plus Assassin's Creed is about killing folk in a massive free-roaming world, whereas Tenchu is very much about confined spaces.
Hilarous review xD
Thanks a lot ! =)
@DjTsj Return From Darkness is the Xbox version of Wrath of Heaven, it has an extra level and some extra features because Xbox waited longer.
They should get you as a voice actor. XD
where can i download it?
Looks like handheld console wars
are beginning to hot up on CGR.
Right know you are talking about taste. I know this is a bit like a Assassins Creed rip off. But I think it's fun to play, I am going to try it out.
Some of the music reminds me of some music from Bastion.
this game is really nice. love it
If you like stealth games, then you might as well get Metal Gear Solid. Absolutely great game!
7:08 best part of the game
i thought you needed an HD tv to hook up your psp to.
@DemonicGoat117 sounds good, hope i get the chance to play it sum day
hey would you review metal gear solid 4???? its a stealh game too if you dont know
Shinobido was created by the original developers of tenchu games for the ps1
But strictly gameplay-wise, they're not hugely dissimilar. I prefer the Middle Ages kindof thing actually, but Splinter Cell without gadgets would defeat the point somewhat. I've forgotten what we were discussing, really.
Good thing you're playing and reviewing this on PSP. Because the Wii version fucking sucks...dumb ass motion controls.
As for alot of the comments on here...I do not want a Tenchu remake or remaster or rerelease. What I want is a brand new Tenchu game with brand new graphics engine and models, brand new control scheme, brand new characters and brand new storyline and setting. Seriously...I'm fucking sick of "Kill/Punish the Evil Merchant" quests in every fucking Tenchu game.
Hey Acquire/Spike/From Software (or whoever fucking owns this IP), if you ever plan on making a new Tenchu game, take a page (or pages or the whole damn book) from Hitman (2017).
Nah, you're crazy. I LOVE removing the Echigoya lineage from history, and that remix of the track from the first game playing in Wrath of Heaven was absolute kino. I don't want another Tenchu if its just gonna rip from a contemporary instead of build on what Wrath of Heaven and Fatal Shadows gave us. Those two games in particular are basically the same formula as 1&2, but its very beautiful to see classic Tenchu on a system that can fully realize what it sets out to do, and with a better control scheme in tango.
No, that was Tenchu Fatal Shadows for PS2, a prequel to 3.
The only Tenchu game I've ever played was Tenchu 3: Wrath of Heaven for the PS2, and though it had some problems (bad AI, camera, etc), I still had fun with it.
That being said, I'll keep an eye out for this game in the near future.
6:55
OMG the SIZE of those !
ShadowCrowX I couldn't have said it better myself. Tenchu is supposed to be like Batman, very stealthy and nonmagical
Mista Finkledittles = Finnish Mister Fondletitties?
5 years later and this video saved me from wasting time and space on my Nvidia Shield Portable by not downloading this PoS onto my PPSSPP emulator lol. So fucking gay! I wish they would reinvent this series because it was awesome on PS1.
Not sure why you used the word "gay" here, since it makes no sense. I think you meant to say "bad" instead of "gay". However, this game isn't that good.
You need to play/review the Playstation Tenchu where you should hide the bodies etc and the other Tenchu console games where it was more based on stealth and not AI stupidity.
lols rikimaru?
now,thats a commentary dude.
Goodness, I hate how people judge games by the graphics. How about you look at the storytline?
Awsome video
@GamingWithStatoke dont get a psp for the tenchu games, there are two very good tenchus on both ps1 and ps2, the only good tenchu game for psp is Time Of The Assassins, this tenchu is also on the Wii with better graphics but with the same gameplay, (plus it has physics). you can easily download the two first tenchu games for the ePSXe ps1 emulator, and check gamestop or a store that sell used games for the ps2/psp titles. Hope that helped ;P
I am having trouble with sword fight until I consistently failed with onikage... I deleted the game after I saw it's horrific ending... related to kiku and ayame! cry/tears to all tenchu fans... no more manual exhibition...
Y'know, in Japan tis is called "Tenchu 4". With 4 sounding similar to "death" in Japanese (shi) it all comes into full circle as to why the Tenchu series died after what is possibly the worst in the series.
are you kidding me? cheesy guard dialogue is one of the best parts of stealth games.
7:59 when do i get to go home and polish my teeth? lol
@Nejissj4
Action wise you've got the God Of War games, Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles, Warriors Orochi 2, Monster Hunter but FPS wise, you don't want to be looking on PSP, there's very few and those that do exist use auto-aim due to the lack of a second analogue stick. Very bad. The bloody iPhone can do FPS better (NOVA and Modern Combat: Sandstorm for example)... either get an iPhone if you want mobile FPS's (probably not worth it really) or stick to consoles for FPS's. Hope that helped.
@DjTsj You forgot/ Return from Darkness
capture card and av output cables
Yeah tenchu has always kinda been more about style then stealth. Take a whack at Tenchu Z for the 360, no ninja vision but better controls, no "sword fighting" and you can make your own ninja...
how much is a psp these days? they have a great lineup of games compared to my shitty 1st gen Ds
I think in the Japanese version the guards say "kuso ga." It's like calling someone a piece of shit.
fair enuf but those things are basic parts of a stealth game it would be like saying time splitters is a rip off of doom cause u shoot stuff, collect weapons and have a fps view lol
I don't know about this, but when Splinter Cell was at its best it defeated Assassin's Creed by a good bit, not least because SC isn't massively reptitive at times. I liked Creed, but it was full of bad or lazy design choices that held it back significantly.
@Grzeciec I have Tenchu original from 1998. God i love d that game
You've Cut out my heart, IT i-t it Stinggsss,oh no the light, ARGH
This game is also on Wii, with better visuals and controls... but still quite avarage due to the Deaf guards
I agree rickimaru is too loud lol. I think tetsumaru from 2 was the best at self kills as he normly overed their mouth befor he killed them.
LONG LIVE THE GRAPPLING HOOK
does anyone know other great ninja games for the psp
Others here have talked about Shinobido: Tales of the Ninja
hilarious review! xD
Tenchu 1 and 2 should be remade in HD and put on xbox live and PSN
metal gear portal ops is a great stealth game, tho it isn't a "ninja" game. It gives you that same kinda feel to the gameplay tho.
this game seems to be identical to shibido
