It feels really weird to have a Scott The Woz video just end out of nowhere without the ending music
I second that...
I prefer it i hate the scott outro a lot
Which ending music though? I still prefer 3D Dot Game Heroes.
That is the music they were talking about!
It would be perfect for a special. Like a wii ware chronicles special where it doesn't end on a happy ending.
Its amusing how Scott has repeatedly underestimated or been confused by the PSP’s success. From my own experience living in the Philippines at the time of its release, it was the hottest shit for gamers. And of course massively easy for piracy.
It was hot shit for awhile after launch but it failed in comparison to Nintendo's line of portables. Same with the vita
@@coleredmond8459 in the west sure, but in the SEA region everyone had a psp
@coleredmond8459 what are you talking about? The Psp sold about 80+ million units. That is a success. Just because it isn't number 1 doesn't mean its a failure.
That is why they released the psvita because it was an success.
I lived in California and everyone used the PSP. My dad used it to make work calls at the time. Also it seems like a good amount of people still remember it, weird how some people think it's completely forgotten
Same in India. Nintendo has only ever catered to the Japanese, American, and European markets. Importing a DS meant paying $400+ in 2007 for a handheld that was subpar compared to PSP which had GTA and God of War. The PSP was HUGE in Asia and Eastern Europe, markets Nintendo doesn’t even know exist even to this very day.
hey scott all here
here all scott hey

scott all here hey
The PSP technology at that time was absolutely insane. It’s definitely one of the best handhelds ever made.
Yeah, everybody was enjoying that. I never seen anybody complaining about Liberty City Stories control. Every PSP owner wished to have that game
@@elmousse007I hated the numb stick but I loved the psp used to watch movies and porn back in middle school
I agree, it had PS2 quality [ish, so Dreamcast quality] graphics, can play video [both with UMD discs and Mp4s], Mp3s, [had a remote for this too] and has a web browser.
The analog nub gave respectable control. The DS at the time didn't have one.
For someone who was late to consoles and handhelds due to financial instabilities, I grew up playing with PS2 mostly and the PSP-to-PS2 thing was a blessing for me. Having more games in one platform was great. I still love Burnout Dominator, Syphon Filter Dark Mirror and Motorstorm Arctic Edge.
Aaawww hope these days you can get all the consoles and games you want 😊
Motorstorm is always a treat, I honestly don't see why Scott had to complain about it, besides from not looking as nice...
It gave PS2 an even massive library which is the reason I play it since I got one during 2008.
There is something about this era of gaming that just makes me feel warm inside, like everything was going to be ok and the future was bright...
turns out the future is just remakes of old games and microtranactions.
Meanwhile most of us Armored Core fans play the PSP versions over the originals due to how many little improvements they made, and how comfortably it gets in your pants.
i felt this
In your pants?
is it really worth having PSP Leg for Armored Core
But you only get one analog stick
@@citrusjuicebox Only need one, AC has generally used one stick. Vita allows for two, as does emulation, but I know personally, I still do rocket only runs using PSP controls, just due to finding ∆ O easier as up/down than the triggers, which always felt weird to me. It's a preference thing, but most still play these versions, since most of your screen is a lock box.
Growing up in a country with a weak economy and only having a PS2 while the PS3 was out, the PSP to PS2 conversions were a godsent, I wanted to play Motorstorm so bad but couldn't afford a PS3 at the time, Arctic Edge was one of my favorite games on the PS2
Same here, in Brazil the PS2 ended up being the solution for many gamers who didn't have enough money for the Wii, PS3 or Xbox 360 which were absurdly expensive here at the time, heck... my first contact with games like Sonic Unleashed and Call of Duty 3 was on PS2 and that was in 2010.
@irathecarnivore4606 what country?
whoa, i barely know if Hungary is a weak economy country, Hungary is beautiful place
PSP was my first handheld. Bought one for myself Christmas 2005 whilst backpacking. And liberty city stories was one of the first games I bought. Awesome little console.
"Tears of the Kingdom uses a recycled map wtf"
Liberty City and Vice City Stories: "Hold my six star wanted level"
0:04 For those who don't know, this was a shovelware-esque game where you look at a Japanese adult model and such. That's it.
Oh, and the game had no nudity.
Some of them actually did, lol. There's someone on reddit who bought every single one of those. Only like 8 of them actually had anything worthy inside them, lmao
probably would've been rejected from retailers if it had actual nudity, but idk how Japan's rating system works
sidenote: holy shit the REAL SquadalaGuy, known Yuri simp who also casted Monika as Scott "Will Eventually Take a Look at the First Mega Man" Wozniak (working title) a few times
No nudity? DAMN IT!
I sometimes find it cool that there were games for both the psp and ps2, even though they were ports of one another. I see it as a win-win scenario.
I don't have psp but I have modded vita . Psp Great Portable 👍

wouldnt it be cool if youtube had a feature for creators to utilize sectioning out the video by subtopics? Oh wait
Or silent hill origins 😂
Not even Mortal Kombat Unchained
Can't forget Silent Hill Origins, Manhunt 2, and Obscure the Aftermath!
I would love to see Scott do a vita video someday, I think his perspective as a nintendo fan would be interesting, considering how beloved the vita is by its community. Also, the fact one of the main draws is jrpgs will certainly make a different view as compared to a lot of the vita videos nowadays.
Isn't he like a nintendo fanboy?? We're lucky to even have this 💀
that'd be awesome.
What are some good vita RPG's? Besides persona 4.
I am interested in expanding my vita games
@@Danitron904 Final Fantasys 1-10, undertale, danganrompa, quite a few more i cant name off the top of my head. I can give more if you want too
@@someguy496
What is a Final Fantasy that is reasonably difficult? I find more easy rpgs tedious and I drop them fast, and more difficult ones keep me engaged for longer.
I am not asking for kaizo levels lol. Just a FF game that keeps up in challange.
i am loving these individual segments getting uploaded.
God back in late 2000's or so my PSP was my life.
You could download Skype on it and get 1 free call, so I would just make burner emails and use it to call friends and stuff. I didn't have a home internet connection at the time so I would just go around freeloading wifi from places and use that to browse the web, it was also my media player, I had lots of anime downloaded onto it and just watched on break or durning trips and listen to music and stuff. Basically what people use their smartphone for now, I used my PSP for back in the day
I’m actually legally blind and that joke killed me
Loved the PSP.
Psp & ps2 games mod community still going strong to this day. Especially in the translation team
The PSP is my favorite handheld. It is such a cool handheld and the library is vastly underestimated.
GTA: LCS and VCS were probably the best installments in the GTA series. I'm partial to Liberty City (the town, not the game), but VCS is arguably the better game of the two. Always annoyed me they cut the multiplayer, but the PS2-era engine of GTA was absolutely _not_ designed for splitscreen.
It also annoys me to no end that most people pretend like these two games don't exist. If you owned a PS2 (which is what most people played GTA on), then they were just the next installment in the series at the time.
Both were better than the previous entries (GTA 3 & Vice City). Mechanically, LCS was much closer to VC and VCS was a lot closer to San Andreas. The maps were also more fleshed out, especially Vice City Stories, it makes Vice City look like a beta version.
The only problem was the god awful framerate of LCS on PS2, which makes it harder to decide between PSP/PS2. VCS however was easily better on PS2 in every way.
i dont think anyone would argue against VCS being the better one. it has a much more consistent framerate, its soundtrack is 10 times better than LCS, and its got fuckin Phil Collins in it. that said, both are great and neither will fail to provide a fun time on the go.
I love VC Stories too! The sound track on V Rock and Wave 103 were much better on VC Stories than on regular Vice City in my opinion. The scripting and dialog between Lazlow and Ed are hilarious! They also got Phil Collins a mission and concert scene.
For anyone loving GTA but never got a hold of a PSP for the LCS/VCS games, I have a tip for you. The PSP emulator PPSSPP is very easy to install on your phone or PC and not only emulates the PSP flawlessly, it also upscales the games.
This was something I overlooked; I thought "oh god, touchscreen? Yuch!" and was right about it. But seeing the quality of the graphics within the emulator makes it difficult for me to play some games on original hardware (or ported into the Adrenaline PSP program for the Vita), and I now play some games on the phone using a Dualshock 4 clipped onto a mobile holder. I never thought this would be my style of playing but GTA just looks so good.
Anyway, this method was far better than playing VCS on PSXPS2 on PC, so don't get fooled. If you want to play LCS or VCS on the PC, go for PPSSPP and the PSP games, not a PS2 emulator for the PS2 versions.
Maybe you were too young at the time Scott but the PSP was a huge deal - the hype in 2004 and 2005 was enormous and the device felt like something from the future - something akin to the AYANEO or GPD Win4 but at a time when Gameboy Advance and flip phones were the norm and Nintendo had just released the original brick DS. Whilst the device was compromised in some pretty stupid ways at the time it was very very cool.
The psp was a massive deal because it was very close to a pda and played full fledged video games
Yeah, this was a really weird trend, it'd be like if Square Enix released PS2 versions of games like Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and The 3rd Birthday shortly after their PSP releases, especially since they were killer apps and meant to be a reason to get a PSP.
Birth by Sleep was supposed to be a PS2 release before being delayed a bunch and the team deciding to shift to a more relevant console with comparable hardware.
Holy sh*t Secret Agent Clank! The end of the world is here!
3:00 reaction clip :]
Both GTAs’, for the PSP, were by far better than GTAIII. Not only for the stories, but as well for the atmospheres and gameplay, they’re on par with Vice city, and San Andreas, for story. Liberty city stories, happens to have one of the best and easiest storylines to follow, as well with vice city stories, but not for its story, it’s not as compelling to follow, but it has features in it that are in majority of the original trilogy for PS2. Bicycles, territories, stores, fast food, real estate and I’m sure much more that I’m not thinking of at the moment.
Edit: I am legit legally blind 😂
I bought a psp for the first time last year and I still play it regularly. It is amazing. The only thing I hate is some games will NOT save even tho I have enough storage. Other than that it is the best
That was just a whole scott video lol
Fun fact . Most people don't know you can play VITA and SWITCH on android via emu nowadays
i am loving these individual segments getting uploaded.. i am loving these individual segments getting uploaded..
I think Scott should upload a section of the bloopers during “fuck tennis” to this channel
I wished G4 didn't reach an end I watched your show literally everyday
I wish they had released Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection on the PS2 I mean considering the amount of PSP ports they did comon they could have did one more 😂
so the ps2 would've had a definitive edition for Tekken 5
@spiral7399I still play it along with tekken6 on my vita
I personally like the fact that a lot of PSP games also released on PS2 especially now as a PS2 collectors I can go back and play my favorite PSP games without actually having to buy a PSP. I want that Ratchet and Clank The Lost Frontier on PS2 I Already have Syphon Filter Dark Mirror on PS2 and searching for a copy of Logan Shadow. Also want a PS2 copy of Silent Hill Origins which is expensive as hell. I play all my PS2 games on my backwards compatible PS3 so I'm looking for quite a few can't wait to one them all. Overall I think it was a great initiative to make them on PS2 so we can go back and play them now on a TV with needing a PSP.
If you're such a collectionist, haven't you considered running an original PS2 through a simple HDMI thingie? Albeit you'll need some memory cards, it will help since I've heard PS3 had some compatibility errors with some of the more obscure games.
@@creepypato3984
Nah the PS3 works fine I've got a 60GB backwards compatible PS3 and it absolutely takes any game I throw at it and runs with it. It's no issue at all much better then going through the trouble of hooking a PS2 up to a component to HDMI adapter plus those things make the picture look absolutely terrible where as on the PS3 PS2 games look incredible.
You can also connect the PSP to the TV, you know?
@@sebastiankulche
Yea but I have absolutely no interest in getting a PSP especially not to play it on a TV would rather have the PS2 versions of these games.
@@marky3609 Fair.
The VCS port also brought back the skyscraper Easter egg lol
I like this segment!
One of the few general gaming videos he spent more time talking about playstation than nintendo
The neighbours bit killed me 😂😂
Liberty city stories is hard to play with its terrible framerate but vcs was phenomenal when they took the time to make improvements.
Bro forgot the Smackdown vs Raw series 🤦🏾♂️
All of these complains about PSP and Wii’s control were completely inexistant. Listening to the RUclipsrs, it was the worst thing ever but it’s just because you’re comparing with new releases. Back in the day I’ve litteraly never seen someone complaining about those two consoles controls. Liberty City Stories was a must have and nobody complained about the camera. Yes, it wasn’t optimal but we didn’t know any better so people were fine with it
All scott, here hey!
And now we can play ps2 games portably on our phones 😂
I love the jokes on Secret Agent Clank 😅😅
finally a video I'm not 3+ years late to lmao
GTA LCS and VCS are the most underrated GTA games ever released.
Im still mad this didnt happen to KH Birth by sleep. Really wanted to play it when it came.
I wonder why Sly Cooper didn't have a PSP installment.
Maybe the PSP wasn't powerful or worthy enough for Sly Cooper.
Concept art for a psp sequel that would have a similar plot to Thieves in Times does exist. Not sure why it was cancelled.
Sucker Punch moved on to InFamous and the devs that made Sly 4 took a while to let Sony have a go at it.
I remember my favorite psp game, MGS peace walker being ported on ps3 a year after realease. And my of my was it a blast.
Remember,Ya can plug controller into psp if ya want
Perfect snippet for the night
I still can't believe he didn't even mention Peace Walker in that video.
It felt like you literally had the PS2 in your hands. The psp was way ahead of it's time.
You forgot about Free Running. A very underrated game from Core Design (the developer of Tomb Raider) which made its way from PSP to PS2
2:57 DEMOLISHED me
I just realized this segment is using music from _Excitebots: Trick Racing_ which is both making me nostalgic and also having me question how he decided to use that music here.
I still say that the PS2 versions of LCS and VCS fit alongside their PS2 developed counterparts for the simple fact that they're, feature-wise, technically better than 3 and Vice City respectively, and those were natively MADE for the PS2
The lost frontier and daxter are my favorite psp games
Agreed mate, daxter was so fun
PS2 is still the number one best-selling console no console has top it yet
The only one of these games I played was "Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters." I only owned the PS2 version. I never owned a PSP.
back in the day, the PSP blew my mind, my first game on there was Lego star wars 2 and to see it near console parity (hell some extra content too) blew my mind, sadly we didnt get many games only a handful here and there, but once we got Ratchet & Clank Size matters I was glued to that little powerhouse. and around the twilight years of the systems life was when I was finally able to afford some of the better games like Crisis Cor and the God of War games. loved that little handheld. kinda wish I could go back and relive those experiences lol
Parity. It's called "console parity".
i remember using it even as a dedicated mp3 player and watched downloaded videos on it. Even had a cable that would allow to connect the psp to a television for gaming and watching the same videos on a big screen.
@@dasdasdus after my brother took the PSP over to a friends house (they had internet and we didnt at the time) he downloaded so many MP3's and videos like episodes of this British TV show called Spaced, and so many Viral at the time videos, it was such a treasured device way back then, Ive even modded my Vita to access the PSP Emulated that it has built inside and its like reliving the glory days.. without having to use the unique UMDs of course haha even miss those flimsy things
@@ens5n1e07p thank you kindly, no ones actually spelt it out, ive only ever heard it said and they always seem to sound like Parody, ill have to fix that.
@@jokesplays4059 Yeah, I get it. The fact that the automatic RUclips captions (and some closed captioning services hired by RUclips creators to do their captions) spelled it out as "parody" doesn't help at all.
As a ps2 collector i never seen that template of ps2 covers, to where the psp adaptations on ps2 are "only on playstation." I dont think that it really loses magic playing it on a console then on-the-go, but this is the same person that doesnt have a PSP
Was, was that Scott acknowledging Arlo?
?
I didn't think that the PS2 versions of GTA looked better than it's PSP counterparts. I sure never noticed it. Not even now when you point it out.
"The stuff you're willing to put up with for a portable"
You own a switch...
My only issue with the PSP to PS2 and vice versa games were the fact that some of the games released on both systems were just PSP games that were ported to the PS2 and never got proper controls or a graphical upgrade due to the slight performance advantage the PS2 itself had. I think if devs had a little bit more time to put polish into each release of each game, they would have had a better turnout rate with what was released. These devs still did a good job though (Not looking at you High Impact, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier was an absolute disaster and you should be ashamed of yourselves)
Would be cool to have a video about PS3 ports on PSP, lol.
I can't really think of any of those off top of my head. Like the PSP got Madden 12 and FIFA 12 but those are the PS2 versions that got ported down.
I problem was the psp-vita games i had to buy games separately if i want to play the console version and the handheld version, so i had to buy two games instead one.
The switch/steam deck/cloud gaming kinda solved the problem, i have the game and can play on big screen and handheld mode.
Oh your problem was your lack of finances to acquire both. We had digital and physical copies available for a lot of titles but not all.
This is a "Main Channel Video" but published on second channel ?

It’s a specific chapter of one of his videos
Wait liberty city stories started as a psp exclusive?!
My young impoverished self is sad that Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker didn't get the PSP to PS2 treatment.
(Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow came out on PS2 the year PW came out)
What’s wild is there’s a few that came to PS3 too: MGS Peace Walker, both God of War games…might be forgetting something
Yeah, that and the Wii extended the life of the PS2, and it spit on the sega Nomad, which was a handheld sega intended to extend the Genesis life, and it failed to do so.
Its funny cause Liberty city stories was one of my favourite games from the ps2... Years latter i found that it was a portable game lol
Yknow what they say. PSP. It's like a nut that you can play with outside, but sometimes you wanna stay inside.
psp goated
How do I not remember this episode.
And then you have Peace Walker ported to PS3 😅
Motorstorm Arctic Edge needs a sequel on ps5… such a fun game
2:52 ps2 version were also notorious for running like ass. Liberty stories in particular
0:05 Neuron Activation
The PS2 version of Twisted Metal Head On apparently had a lot of issues. Some jumps couldn't be done the same between the consoles, almost like the PS2 versions map size is scaled up a tad. Plus some audio is missing.

I'm not sure how you delineate whether a video goes on the main channel or not, but many of these snippets are certainly good enough for the main channel. I of course don't know if you have some advanced algorithm strat where you only release these months long projects of hour long vids now.

The PSPs best genre was definitely racing games:
Midnight Club 3 & LA, NFS Carbon: Own the City & ProStreet, Burnout Legends & Dominator, Race Driver 2006 (lame name, it's ToCa 2 with extra stuff!), a good Juiced 1 port, NASCAR, Gran Turismo, the list goes on.
Definitely was Spoiled for choice as a kid 😆
Actually Burnout Dominator was on the PS2 as well, I think it to be the hardest game in the series 😅
@jakethreesixty psp my fav portable of all time man
GTA liberty city stories is like unimproved GTA three when I finally got to play it for the PS2
10:27 still weird to me that WipEout Pulse ps2 port only released in Europe.
Now this to Legendary console can be played anytime anywhere on Android Device Using Emulat1on and Handheld PC
Why the face while playing GTA gameboy? I never played them because that was the only console I didn’t get that into growing up, but I definitely played GTA 1, and 2 and had the time of my life for hours from that overhead perspective. Infinite health, all weapons, a car, a bridge and oil slicks can provide hours of fun haha…
If console quality on handheld is the goal, have you heard of Steam Deck?
sony really needs to make a new psp i still use my psp to this day its that good and i dont want some device that is just made to use cloud services... i want a fully fledged system i can use any time anywhere
