  • Rob Hallam reviews the 2001, all-Italian, Fiat Stylo to see if the much dubbed 'sharp and exciting drive' is just a gimmick, or if this family hatchback does indeed have the performance and handling to back it up.

i love my Stilo even 13,5 years later! Beautiful car, very roomy and high tech even for todays standards! I have the 1.6 Dynamic.

1.9 JTD here, Dynamic 3 door hatchback, 85kw engine, nice car for daily drives, as well as longer drives. So far, reliable.

Hi there mate. I know this review does not do its justice. I am interested in getting a Stilo 1.6. How is it on fuel? I love this car. I am a huge Fiat fan.

Had it for 7 years. Bought it with very low milage (around 15.000). Everything was great except electronics which really gone wild after 50k. Passenger seat weight sensor was the first thing that broke, had problem with rear left light and sometimes the computer would say "engine fault" even if everything was fine! Perfect design, very fun to drive. The 1.6 16v engine is really strong and that's maybe the best part of this car. And the fuel consumption is very acceptable from 6l or even less/100 km to maximum 10 in the city or in winter time.

I had a 1.8 dynamic and I only had trouble with the skyroof. Great to drive and having parking sensors on a '53 plate was brilliant.

This ain't really a "small family hatchback"
If so, the 5 door version was closer to that.
I simply see this as a small car for young people, who don't need a long sedan or combi and the fact that this 3 door version was also availible with the Abarth and Michael Schumacher versions tells you that this is not a family car at all.

The Stilo was dull and and a little boring compared the predecessor Bravo/Brava. But it feels more robust and better built. Had both of them .
