Love the bus. I has awesome character! I like the light bar set up. Never thought about mounting one higher, like that. Where does one get the mounting hardware?

I fuck with the periscope idea so much. I don’t think anything would be more appropriate.

When you rebuid the transmission, put the positraction on it. You get a lot better off road traction. Also when you put the lift kit on, besure to upgrade the boots on the CV joints because the stock ones tear easily and then you will be doing CV joints again.

The tracking shots driving through the surf look cool. All that saltwater makes an excellent rust promotion treatment of the undercarriage 🤨

I love the original plaid foam mat still in the back. Dude you are old school. Get a blue printed engine from Tuttle. I dropped one in SLO town. Then contact the Bend Or transmission place to make sure you have the right one for your engine. My VW is stock. Keeping it real, one bolt at a time. '77 camper.

so is the van actually a 4wd? I couldn't imagine it driving on sand if not, but i mnot sure i ve seen a T2 syncro...

I believe he was saying that with larger wheels and the Fox shocks and rear wheel drive with engine weight over the drive wheel(s) it does amazing things. VW did have an engineer that made a 4 wheel drive T2, but it did not make it into mass production, but it made a path for the T3 syncro. I saw a video on syncro development its on youtube someplace....

      Ouaou!
So it's only with larger wheels, eh!
Quite interesting, and i have been thinking about puttting them on my T3. I wonder how the better shocks help at being able to drive on sand though and not digging holes though...

I had a 78 WESTY Sage Green. Thanks to Go Westy i restored and used her. Then my wife divorced me and i sold my bus to pay for a lawyer. Now i drive a "dirtbag" van. That my friends is real life.

Dude, Driving your bus on the beach and the saltwater is going to eat your bus alive. You better do some corrosion control or you won't have much of a bus left. Rust never sleeps. LoL

Ah yes. The van fantasy where no one has to work, you have money for snow boarding, surfing and to buy a dirt bike, and zero responsibility for anything. Pure hype!
