Just watched this last night, and I was born in 95 so it was pretty far before my time, but a fantastic film! Some of the effects and editing choices were amazing, and the music was so memorable!
odd, it was 1995 when i saw this movie for the very first time at my friends house. My friends mom had a crush on me but i didnt want her beause she was like in her 40s.. oh i wouldnt give to take up her offer to sleep with her i was so stupid. because she was actualy very hot. You gotta do stuff in life or you miss it.
The movie came out at the height of Elton mania in the USA and when he came on screen as the Pinball Wizard in those massive doc martins the whole theater erupted with cheers and whistles.
I was only about 10 yrs old when I sneaked-in underage to see it as an "AA Category" (16 And Over) in England and it both scared me and turned me on at the same time!
I just watched the Elton John Pinball Wizard scene a couple days ago--- pure magic and madness! I had to see what else there was. And judging from the various clips, this is a must see⭐👍
Russell was brilliant and the perfect choice to give life to an amazing score on the silver screen. What a time capsule of talent and 70's culture this is, I was 10 and begged my mother to take me several times, god bless her as the volume in the theatre was good and high for her (perfect for me and everyone there), but she saw how this movie inspired my imagination and hopes.
RIP Oliver Reed (February 13, 1938 - May 2, 1999), aged 61 RIP Tina Turner (November 26, 1939 - May 24, 2023), aged 83 RIP John Entwistle (October 9, 1944 - June 27, 2002), aged 57 RIP Keith Moon (August 23, 1946 - September 7, 1978), aged 32 You will be remembered as legends.
i love this movie so much i watch 7 time in theater and then got VHS and watch over and over, and yet today i love this movie, every time you watch you see something new. Rodger was so hot then
Saw it in Leicester Square on its release. Blew my mind then and still does to this day when I see it on TV. I also have the soundtrack double album on Vinyl.
I’ll never forget my cousin showing me this movie when I was 15. I can still hear us crying laughing at the bean scene! This movie is truly insane in the best way possible
As a fan of The Who, I really love "Tommy", it really had a powerful thought provoking story and the soundtrack is fucking awesome. It's one of those movies that as long as you're willing to jump in and experience it, it's an emotionally spiritual film.
I still can't believe my uptight high school principal let the seniors out of class to watch this movie in the cafeteria! I don't think the school administrators knew what it was about.
I saw the movie about 15 years ago on VH1 classic when we had it at the time. Unfortunately, now it's MTV classic. I thought in my opinion the movie was awesome.
What a time capsule this is now. The rock opera was actually six years old when the film was released in 1975. So glad Tina Turner was cast in this as by then Ike had abused her very badly and she would flee him the following year. The Who has always been one of my favorite bands as Elton John was.
I just watched it and read on it on Google. awesome story on the guests. Read that Barry Gibb was 1 of the people that pushed 1 of the wheelchairs in the eyesight to the blind scene.
Tina Turner stole this show, upstaging everyone else. But she wasn't as big a name at the time as the other stars, and so her amazing performance and immense credit to the move were left out of this ad.
As a longtime Who fan, I’ve always had a mixed opinion on this. It was WAYYYY out there visually and Ann-Margret is always watchable in anything, but Oliver Reed and Jack Nicholson in singing roles? I read that Jack only got the part because he happened to be in London at the time and Peter Sellers dropped out at the last minute But Roger was GREAT in this, no surprise he got a Golden Globe nomination and Ann-Margret got an Oscar nomination
The scene where Keith Moon plays Uncle Ernie, and the scene where Tina Turner plays The Acid Queen makes that answer to that question no 😂 but I can say a young kid won’t get the bad parts of the scenes, and they will just see it as a fun movie. I showed it to my brother when he was young, but he was too innocent to understand all of that
@@thefriendshipboys no shame in waiting. You’ll enjoy it more when you get a little older. Do yourself a favor and listen to the whole album if you haven’t yet, because it is a masterpiece
With no context, this is one of the greatest trailers of all time. With context, this is one of the greatest trailers of all time.
After watching the movie +/- 30 years ago.. Totally agreding!
Holy fu**!!! Elton John, The Who, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton AND Jack Nicholson in one movie!?!! Thats how you do a casting, man!!!
And Ann Margret!!!
🤔 And why not!!?
@@NotMineButVeryBeautifulNot to mention Oliver Reed.
Fuck
Thought the same thing yesterday watching Almost Famous

@@mjh5437Why were you getting turned on by this at age ten
My mom took me and my sister when it came out (Ah the 70s) and I was only ten yo. I had nightmares for weeks afterwards.
People that hate this movie are dull, and live dull lives. No imagination whatsoever in people like that. Brilliant Album. Brilliant film.
Ann-Margret was fantastic in this!
Oscar nominated too!
Screenbound Pictures: thanks for posting. Have always loved this movie since I was a kid in '75(12). Loved Tina Turner as the Acid Queen. R.I.P.
This movie is an acid trip fever dream and I love it

Yes😊
I have to admit, if I was back in 1975, and I saw this, I’d see Tommy just to see what the heck was going on
