This is yet another brief look at a Facebook Marketplace purchase - an Indonesian Squier Stratocaster Standard. I disassemble it to look at its components and how they compare to the Affinity I examined a few weeks ago. I also fix a bad solder joint on the jack. This will be a one-episode project.

I have a 2012 Squier Standard Stratocaster. It’s candy apple red with a maple fingerboard. It’s my favorite guitar. I put a brass block in mine. Hot shot Locking tuners and Bornean pots and switch craft 5 way and output jack. Plays like a dream. I look for other Standards around the same year and they’re always expensive. Keep it. Squier doesn’t make 22 fret with rosewood any more. People want them.
They have the contemporary series, but I know what you are saying. The Standards are great.
Great video so far. Just a little tip I learned. The cleaner you're using. Be sure to double check the ingredients. Some will not only clean but if left on there will degrade the carbon wipers on the inside. It happens a bit after it goes to a new home but the contacts can't handle being in that stuff for long. D-ox has a cleaner and a gold label one that you want to spray after the cleaner. That'll condition. After you pull a few bad pots apart, you'll see. Someone may have done it too and now you have to deal with it.
I’ll check it out. CRC was on a list that Fender recommended. I’m reading now that it may be best to spray a lubricant after the cleaner dries.
@@hacksguitarhobby , yup, carbon will degrade in the cleaner. The lubricant keeps things smooth going.
Very well explaining ! ... To test pickups, hot test in selector, and where You put the ground ?
Any ground. Back of a pot is a pretty easy spot, or clip to the grounded leg of the volume pot.
Heavier grain wood it could be poplar nasswood is tighter grain it might be scorched in the contry of origin
Most definitely an Asian variety of some sort.
