Hi Paul! I'm new to ASANA and to your channel. You are an excellent teacher (I've learned more from YOU in a couple of videos that sitting through several trainings offered by the company). Question: Is it possible to create Sections on an existing project? Thanks in advance for your help!
Thanks, I'm glad the videos are useful! Yes, you can create a section using the Tab + N shortcut or by clicking the + Section button at the top of the project.
I want to schedule the shifts of the operating room personnel by applying restrictions with the software automatically? What software do you recommend? Can Asana create this feature?
Hello @Paul Minors thank you for creating this content it is extremely helpful. Is there a way to create a new "Section" and a new "task" instead of a subtask in a automated workflow?
Hello @Paul Minors, love your videos and they have helped me tremendously getting Asana nailed down. I am running into an issue that I wonder if you have come across as well. I have several rules setup to check due dates and current status and if the tasks meet the criteria they are moved to a separate project we are using for archiving. The trigger for these rules are/were web requests, but whenever I run the web request I am getting the error "No matching route for request" I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why I am getting these errors. Have you come across this type of issue before?
@@minor-co Neither, we didn't want to bring in a 3rd party app just for the sole purpose of triggering these rules so I've just been trying to run them in house.
Paul, is there a way to quickly add a task to Asana via voice recognition? I am a small business owner and I get random requests from clients or staff multiple times throughout the day. These requests pile up in the form of written notes, emails, texts, calls, etc. For instance, I'm driving and a potential client calls. I might normally use my iPhone to say, "Hey Siri, remind me to send a proposal to John Doe." This works, but ideally, all tasks would be better served in one platform like Asana. Any suggestions for easily adding tasks when you are not in front of your computer?
Great idea to use Zapier. You can also ask Siri: "Add a task in Asana" and this should work (you may need to play with it as I find Siri needs quite a specific prompt)
Hey man. I’m on an Asana trial right now and just realized how limited I’ll be with only 250 after I purchase the starter plan. I’m blown away by this because you’d think software like this would come with base functionality to auto assign all tasks to someone or move “completed” items to a certain section, but both of those require rules and will max out my limits alone. Any tips on how I can work around this on the starter tier when my plan is up?
Hi! I am new to Asana, and I don't know if what I am trying to acheive in Asana is possible at the moment or if you have a video/solution. I want to make a rule, where there is a task, and if it is just a task and it's completed it moves to a complete section. But if it has subtasks, I want the rule to check if all subtasks are completed before it moves it to the completed section. The issue I either am not understanding or maybe Asana doesn't support it in rules yet, is if Task is set to complete where some subtasks are marked as complete but not all of them, it still runs the rule and puts it in the complete section despite not all subtasks are being marked as complete. Do you have any tips for this? Or can you confirm if what I am seeing is just a limitation of the program?
Yes this should be possible using Custom Rules on Asana's advanced plan. You'll need to use a Task Completed trigger and include a check to make sure all subtasks are complete.
Can you set a rule so that a task assigned to you in a project auto organizes in a section in My tasks?
Good question. I just did some testing and unfortunately this isn't possible as we can't include a check for projects when creating a rule in MyTasks.
Finally a real lecture
👍

Hm, I don't think Asana is going to be able to do this I'm afraid.

Thank you for your answer
I am also scared and confused😅
Invaluable, cool knowledge
Thank you very much for your work and benefit
Glad I could help 😀
Hey! Is there a way to move subtasks? I couldn't find it. Thank you!
Yes, you can click the drag them by clicking on the drag handle (the dots) on the left of the subtask.

Yes, in the list of actions you can choose the 'Create Task' option. But we can't create new sections I'm afraid.
@@minor-co Okay thank you Paul, appreciate the response. Keep up the videos they are really helpful.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm afraid I haven't come across this specific error. Are you making the request through Zapier or a similar app?

You can use third party tools like zappier.

Paul, my custom rule screen looks different. Is this new full screen Rules view part of the Asana update and still being rolled out?
Yes, it could be that your account doesn't have the update just yet. I also notice that existing rules don't show up in the new view.

Hi Josh, if you'd rather not pay for the Advanced tier, your other option is to create automations like this using Zapier.
@@minor-co edit: switched to Todoist. Works better with my workflow. Thank you 🙏🏻

Hey, does anyone know a way to set custom rules depending on the task template instead of the project template? 🤔
I'm afraid rules are set up at the project level only.
Very well done as always!
Thanks Ralph!
