2 years ago I purchased this lense to pair with my old Nikon d7000 and the autofocus was lightning fast... kudos for Sigma! Since then I added 2 Nikon 1 v2 ( now defunct model) bodies and getting reach over 1000mm for skittish birds and the stabilizer is incredible! Thanks for review!
Thanks for posting this. I just purchased a used Sigma on the recommendation of a friend who is an expert wildlife photographer. (I also bought used 7D and 20D bodies on his recommendation, as I'd been using an EOS Digital Rebel since about 2003.) I have a lot to learn about wildlife photography, but I think this lens is a very nice entry level piece of equipment, at a very reasonable price point.
Motion blur is due to the photographer not using the lens properly. The lens stabilization does not change... technique is the key word here, stabilization does not do it all with a long lens.
The standard rule for telephoto lens is shoot a speed of 1/400th for sharp photos at 400mm or if on a crop sensor the speed needed would be 1/640 or faster on 1.6 crop sensor. This can become flexible once you develop a proper technique for using the lens. The bottom number on the speed should at least match the mm being used. High speed numbers for birds in flight such as 1/2000 to stop action, even if your only at 400mm on the lens. This lens your speaking of can run with the Big Dogs if used correctly.
@@sertaysakizoglu5553 I agree with you for some photographs but the photographer needs to know technique for ultra zooms. If you have the right speed you can turn stabilization off and be without motion blur on moving or still subjects. Even with stabilization you still need to develop technique with the long lens, the camera does not do it all for you.
Greetings, I have exactly that lens for Nikon, the 100-400mm DG OS HSM | C Nikon. I bought a Sigma TS 111 Clamp for 100-400 DG DN OS but I don't know if it is the right one, I don't think so. Could you advise me which one would be the most suitable? Gracias
I’ve just checked the Sigma price on the Wex store and it’s now 899? I’m confused how it’s gone up in price by 200 since this video. is it purely greed hiding behind inflation?
Tamron is bigger, has better stabilization, brighter across the range(f6.3 starts at 280mm vs sigma at 235)… Sigma is sharper and better optically overall
@@iisanvar my new go to is now the canon rf 100 400. I can sacrifice the f8 aperture with the R6 in hand. I would invest in the rf lenses. If tamron or sigma develops an rf lens, i am so down to get it

I have this lens and the image stablilization is exelent.
Me too, I've had no issues with it at all
Can this be used with canon m50 mark ii via an EF-EOS-M adapter?
Sigma must have fixed the image stabilization because I just got a like new used one and it is excellent. As good as on any of my Nikon lenses.
This lens is weather sealed at the mount only, it is not fully weather sealed....FYI

A very good review as normal.

regarding moving objects, you are right, but thanks to build-in IS, you can get away with e.g. 1/50 at 200mm and still have sharp results.

There's been a firmware update for this lens that supposedly addresses the OS issue.
Great, informative video👍🏻
If my lens is sigma 100-400mm F5 6.3 DG OS HSM | C (NIKON)
The clamp is sigma TS 111 für 100-400mm DG DN OS
Thanks for the information
Did you mention that when the lens is fitted with lens hood you can use the lens as a zoom push - pull lens instead of turning the zoom knob ?
Great review!!
Great lense

So would you choose the tamron 100 400 f4.5-6.3 or this sigma
