I own a 2015 R NineT. I love every bit of it except the fuel tank shape cos I have always been a fan of the old R80's and R90's box-like tank shape that to me was as iconic of a BMW motorcycle as its boxer engine cases. When I caught a glimpse of the R12, I knew lots agree with me and BMW listened. It can be boxier but I won't complain. Well done Motorrad, I can't wait.
This new direction to a more classic BMW style and timeless design is everything I was dreaming for this new generation. Let's hope it can fix the only two longstanding requests about the previous model: a more comfortable seat and a less forward leaning position. It would make it even more appealing to a lot of enthusiasts.
The Roctane looks really good with the hard bags and color aesthetics. Makes it more competitive against the higher volume baggers from others. I tested a R18 classic and the big boxer gives a good & unique cruiser ride experience. I love my R-NineT 719 and still have an old R1200C. An R18 bagger might have to join them.
Absolutely love the new styling of the R12 ! I guess I’d be happy if I already had the current version, (but I’m glad I’ve waited.) It will be interesting to see the other new R12 versions too. I do hope they plan to include 719 tubeless wheels and the seat hump as standard. For the price, these items should not cost extra.
So for the 100th anniversary we took the surprisingly well aging R NineT (called that for the 90th anniversary, a decade ago), then you leave it in the sun for too long, it starts to melt in a bad way, then ask a ten year old to draw it. I hate this. I shouldn’t hate this. This was the last BMW model for me. The only thing I liked was the R1250RS, and it’s slower to steer than the R, lacks any real “sport” and is a worse sport tourer than the RT. Back to Ducati and Triumph I go. I feel incredibly let down when there is nothing left for me at BMW. Not the cars, not the bikes. They knew the R12 NineT is terrible otherwise it would have had more than two minutes covering it from the first actual full shot of it until the closing of the video.
If the R18 is so successful as mentioned, then why US dealers resp. BMW did dump their prices for the R18 models that much and so fast with such insane, aggressive offers only short after the R18 was launched? IMO, such a strategy doesn't do good to a premium brand like BMW and it's a slap in the face to all those who paid the list price, especially in the beginning. Feedback from a happy R18 FE owner.
I come from owning many Harleys and Indians. Though I have no interest in owning another cruiser I totally appreciate BMW continuing to open up their brand to a variety of riders and riding styles. There is no one perfect motorcycle for everyone. That’s why it’s so cool that BMW seems to have a motorcycle for everyone kind of ride and rider😉🤓🤍💙
Yo BMW, I have loved your R18 since the first concept photos you were teasing us with in magazine publications before the unveiling of the actual Motorsickle. I am very eager to change up from my Honda flat 6s that I truly love to a BMW R18. Retired, money is tight but hope to make it happen. You Meet the Nicest People on a Honda Valkyrie/ GoldWing. Keep the Shiny Side Up.
@@bmwmotorrad It think it’s a long awaited update. Ready to buy…. if “updated technology” means it now has a fuel gauge. The nomenclature doesn’t roll off the tongue. I think people are either going to keep calling this the RNine T, or switch to “R12”. R12 NineT is a real mouthful. To me, it’s the new RNine T. Can’t wait to learn more.
BMW continues to develop the R18 and is increasingly becoming a Harley copy. The Roctane is a replica of the Harley Road King Special, unfortunately without the same relaxed seating position. In Germany, the R18 is a real exotic vehicle on the roads. Don't get me wrong, I think the BMW boxer is great and in addition to the HD Heritage Classic I have an R 1250 GS, which is not the cash cow for nothing and drives great. But the R18 is not a real cruiser in any version that I have tested so far.
I was sold for "unlimited customizations" hence bought R18 classic and ordered all the required parts - handle risers, mini apes, exhaust and etc. but waited so many months without success for getting the customizable parts that I wanted. Local dealer ended up telling me that some of these parts were "discontinued" right after launching R18. Hence gave up on "highly customizable R18" and moved on with stacked up R18B. Still loving this boxer but BMW was not keeping the promo slogan with "customization parts" since these are nowhere to be acquired. So buyers just be aware.
Absolutely beautiful rolling / functional pieces of Art and Technology 🤙 You wonderful folks are building my new 2023 R1250R Triple Black right now. Will there be any signature piece or indication of the 100 Years? Thank you for being you and doing what you do. Cheers 🇨🇦
I like the road king knock off. I rode a r18b on a demo day and did enjoy it. You could tell the weight of the fairing on the bars though. I bet this one would have a lot lighter low speed steering. Just add a windshield and ride it as long as you like.
Hi Yifan, please understand that we cannot comment on technical details at this point in time. Technical data as well as more information about the bike will be released in November 2023. 🙌
well it's certainly lost 100% of the visual magic of the R NineT. I have a '18 Racer and a '22 Option 719 Aluminum. This is the first time in a "new generation" of bike launch that I have absolutely zero interest in the "new bike". Holy hell, there's nothing left in BMW for me. The R1250RS is way too soft and not at what the RS name used to mean. Hardly any "sport". The R NineT was just ruined. I'm too grown for an S bike, the F bikes don't do anything for me. Dammit. Back to Ducati and Triumph I go.
Hi there, we can't give you any information about future models or technologies. But we'll keep you up to date on our social media channels! 😉 But how do you like the BMW R 18 Roctane and the R 12 nineT? 😊
Love my r18b but bmw really needs to come up with a quick attach system for passenger back rest and luggage rack. They completely missed the boat with that. Thats the only thing I don't like about my bike that I can't get that . Bmw smart up please
Successful R18 model !!! they are selling these with almost 50% discount in Canada. I was just sat on an 2022 R18B the demo model it was $18K Canadian 🙂 last year it had a price tag of $32K OMG i just looked at the Roctane pictures online..Why on earth did you put the speedo in the headlight assembly??? So now it is not visible with a windshield. You could of had a Road King or Indian Springfield Challenger !!! Speedo for that type of bike in NA goes at top of the fuel tank so the windshield can be added and removed depending where you are riding.....
I agree. Successful???!!! There is definitely something wrong with BMWs R18 pricing strategy. US dealers resp. BMW dumped their prices for the R18 models with insane offers. If a so called Premium product is successful as mentioned, there would be no need to dump the prices so much. It's a slap in the face to all those customers who paid the list price, especially in the beginning.
Current R9T’s issues in my opinion is less retro look but with less tech (no quick shifter, traditional forks). I want it to have more retro look and add few techs. Looking at this video, new R9T looks less retro, especially with sweeping up tail, should have been flat. I hope the sweeping up tail is not common throughout the model range. I like BMW bikes but Triumph knows how to do retro designs right.
Thank you for your feedback. If you're interested in the BMW R nineT with an increased retro look and adding more techs, please contact your local dealer for possible customisations. www.bmw-motorrad.com/dealer. 😊🙌
Yep, another HD copy which won't sell and a base model R9T. Sorry but I'm not wowed. Sold my Road- King 2yrs ago and don't want another heavy, uncomfortable cruiser (had it 20yrs though).
Hi there, please appreciate that we do not make statements regarding our model policy. We're happy to keep you updated with the latest information about our bikes on our channels and not to miss anything.
@bmwmotorrad That's fine with me and I am very excited everytime when a new model will be introduced. I am owning a M1000R and would like to see another BMW Motorrad in my garage- GS or XR😇 Keep up the good work and thanks for your response. Greetings from 🇦🇹👍☺️
R18 roctain beautiful bike but really thought this bike was coming as a 1200 boxer engine & smaller chassis as more excessable for most people as the massive R18 too big, I won't judge til I go to a dealer for a look though 😅😅
and if they are going to do retro, just lean into it like Triumph. This new bike sucks. Hanging onto my ‘18 Racer and ‘22 “Classic” NineT’s for much longer than expected.

Will the nineT have a fuel gauge? that is the question everyone wants answered. :D just kidding... I hope I see all the initial cool 718 options before the ugly 719's are presented.
are you guys lost your mind? Where is the NEW GSA? Where is the M1000XR? WTF is those two? I can't wait you guys put a 50% tag on it like the R18 has already did.
Nice bikes but a 300+kg bike? Why so big? Don’t you realize some countries only have 110km speed limits. If you ain’t going to design bikes which are suitable then I’m just not going to buy. Bike is too big and too heavy. Any HP2 Enduros in the pipeline? That bike I’m interested in getting.
Hi Khoa, thanks for your question about the BMW R 12 nineT. We will publish the technical details about the BMW R 12 nineT possibly by the end of this year. We'll keep you posted once we reveal the technical data. 🙌
The R-18 is one of the Biggest Turds ever put out by BMW. When a company has to give upwards of $8000 in rebates to move that whale off the showroom, this one won't be any better. Low power, and extreme lack of ground clearance, the whale can't even turn. And the older model R9T's look way better, cause I own a 2021 R9T-719 option Frost Black/Aluminum model..Stunning !!

The squaring off of the tank n tail interrupts what was a perfectly shaped tank. We’ll see, maybe it’ll grow on me.
