Same here! I have NYX glitter primer, BH Cosmetics glitter glue, Too-Faced glitter glue, Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, Inglot Duraline, MAC mixing medium, and now this PMG "artistry wand" - but not the time or patience to give them all a true test to see which performs better (slightly hooded eyes here). They all seem to work okay but would love to just stick with the best, especially if it turned out to be one of the less expensive options!
Finally somebody said much more honest review, than it is just gorgeous. Thinking to buy this palette for a month now and finally saw a video - this - where said that it is not that unique gorgeous whatever and you can have the special shades from indie brands. Thanks for the review and comparisons.
I feel like your video actually shows how sparkly they are...thank you. When I see other youtuber's swatches of this palette they don't really look sharp, or they are shown too far away
Yessss. This is the only video where I can actually see what the shadows look like. 👏👏👏❤️every other video I’ve watched have not been helpful even though I enjoyed watching them . Visuals are everything with this palette
While I think the color story is very beautiful, I was also disappointed based on the teaser inspiration. I do feel like she will do a re-release at some point though in awesome packaging, like metallic lavender or holographic, which is what I'm holding out for (or I'll just buy it during the spring VIP sale, assuming she'll probably discount it by then).
Great job showing the colours and textures of the shadows! I found it really helpful 🥰 I haven’t gotten the palette yet, waiting to get it on sale since I’m still very much enjoying using the Divine Rose 2. Regarding the print on the cardboard boxes, I also think they are absolutely stunning! Actually, I like the artwork on the Divine Rose 2 box so much that I’m getting it tattooed next month! I can’t wait 😆
It’s interesting that with the bundle of the palette & artistry wand , she only charges $10 dollars for the wand vs the $44 CAD on its own. Crazy markup! Appreciate your thoughts & comparisons, Milly-thank you! In Canada we pay $170 before customs & duties bring it up to $190, 😮-which makes it totally out of reach for many. It’s hard to justify even though I do enjoy some of her formulas & palettes but will only buy on sale from now on.
I don’t understand those inspirational photos. I don’t see the correlation. I was surprised to see you picked this up but I am excited to see your comparisons.
I had that same issue with her mattes. It took me buying 7 large motherships to figure out how to best use them. Because they’re packed so firmly into the pan (think zoeva, and urban decay mattes) they def perform way better with a synthetic blending brush. Or even semi synthetic like the Zoeva 227 or makeup geek soft dome blending brush works amazingly well. But when I use my rephr or Wayne goss, they’re just too soft and the mattes perform like crap. So yeah def try a synthetic brush, and build it up in very thin layers. It’s a game changer imo xx
@@badtothebrow absolutely. I completely agree with you. For that price the mattes should be impeccable but they’re not. They’re difficult to work with and definitely have a learning curve. Which as you said, is sad, for the price. People rave about her shadows and mattes. There’s nothing to rave about with her mattes. The only thing worth raving about is her “special shades” her astral formula but as you know yourself there’s way better out there especially in the indie world. Pmg is overhyped for the money. She needs to work on her matte shadows because they’re not all that. As I said they remind me so much of zoeva mattes. And zoeva are £20/$20 palettes in Comparison to PMG’s £125 lol 😂
Dyed goat is the best fiber to diffuse the color. It’s superior to undyed goat. With PMG mattes I only use dyed goat or some types of synthetic fibers (not the smooth ones).
@@theoracleofmakeup8061 I agree with everything you are saying EXCEPT for "indie shadows are wayyyy better than her astral....". Did u not see her swatches!?! I have all three dupes of those indie shades...and the texture is simply not there compared to PMG. I fuckin wish it was bc I looove my indie Sha dows....but I SWOON over texture. I love the Pat McGrath Motherships, but I agree, I’m hesitant to buy this one because I have enough of the golds and the skinshow nudes. That’s what is really stopping me. We need way more variation and unique color stories between these larger expensive palettes. So I will be waiting until something different comes along.
I just discovered your channel and firstly can I say how adorable you are!!! And secondly your reviews and looks are fantastic! I ordered Huetopian dream when it was released and your video is making me so excited to get it! Also because of you I have 3 Karla cosmetics gel eye shadows sitting in my basket waiting for pay day 😂 I’d never even heard of them until an hour ago! Keep up the fab work ❤️
@@badtothebrow oh thank you so much for responding! I really appreciate it ☺️ can I ask, I want insomnia, lullaby and snooze. Which one would you recommend in the gel form, and apart from that what other formula is the best to buy, the loose or pressed? Thank you ❤️
I was trying to decide, which of two looks suit you better. Both! Both looks are so beautiful. That lip colour looks so harmonious as well. Enjoy your pallette, money well spent.
rich people don't want to buy colorful palette... i think you might be right ! never think of that. it's very neutral indeed. i love the lavender shimmer tho. i love lavender. she is doing a lot of pink i agree. thank you for the review
Sitting here cracking up at how much shade you threw at the "so-called plum" I get grudges against certain shadows: open a palette and think "ugh... *you*"
I just bought my first tube of Pixie Epoxy last week before the price went up. That's incentive! ; ) A gal I know who also uses Pixie Epoxy bundled this Pat M palette with the Wand and has been using the Wand on her lower lashline before applying the eyeshadow there. Not a bad idea. Would very much appreciate a video showcasing various sticky base products. I hate getting particles of glitter stuck to my eyeball instead of on my eyelid. I have oily hooded lids also. THANKS!
I feel similar about the mothership palettes and their redundancy. I want to depot mine. I actually bought a z_depotter for it. Just need to get the courage to do it. My friend said I should make a RUclips video while I do it but I've never made one before.

I get that it's her aesthetics but damn every palette she releases looks the same to me! Her sparkly shades are pretty but with how many sparkly shades I have from other indies, it wouldn't be worth the price. I understand how a large group of people like these types of releases but I think it would be fun for her brand to do one really cool colorful palette with her special shades. Calling them mothership makes me think of space or like technology (like motherboards) so I think it would be a cool take for her to go more out there with color stories
The name alone HUEtopian dream makes it sound like you're about to get lots of hues, not just a teeny tiny corner of the color wheel lol Loved the video! I can see you knew you weren't gonna like this one but bought it anyways for the sake of comparison, so thank you for your dedication! Also, how different is Venusian Orchid from Opulent by Clionadh? Gives me similar vibes
I think it's depa smith has a video where she mixes an eye primer (?) And shadows to make an easy cut crease. I couldn't find the primer but I used a light colored liquid highlighter to do the same worked super great. Maybe you could compare the artistry wand and that method. Also another thanks for your making your own shadow video, I'd be on a hunt for a good rose gold but wasn't finding what I wanted. I like to keep my collection small so I just made my own with a highlighter that pulled too gold and a few pink shadows, it's the perfect rose gold for me.
I don't think the pen is worth it either but admittedly I'm a lazy potato and not having to work with a squeeze tube and just being able to pop it on really quick I really like it for that. Unlike you I also have REALLY , REALLY dry eyelids (they will be so dry they'll flake, as if I have dandruff on my eyelids). Every single primer I've ever tried for both eyeshadow and glitter dries my skin out even worse and makes the eyeshadow become patchy 😣 The balmy texture of this pen is far more forgiving
