So educational! I just let my Doberman outside 'to potty'. After watching this video several hours earlier I immediately realized that her game plan was not to relieve herself but instead to check out what's going on outside. She moved her nose around like a rabbit twitching as fast as 3X per second to smell the perimeter, nose high, standing by the door with no intentions to do 'her business'. (She enjoys an occasional ridiculously failed playful critter chase but has never apprehend even a baby wild animal, (which she could easily do if she desired). Just WOW, this Cottontail Rabbit video opened a new understanding not only for rabbits but for dog behavior. Bravo for pointing out Fight/Flight AND FREEZE as well. PS, My Doberman "Mimi" and I visit GRCP several times a week. It's like a second home to us. Today we enjoyed GRCP during the rain so no walk down and back up a steep waterfall trail we enjoy most, but I saw a magnificent Pileated Woodpecker just 10 yards away just going at a stump from the car simply took my breath away being so close!
