There's a Sister who belongs to our Church who was a friend of Miss Akers in her hometown of Brookfield Missouri. She's 94 years old. I was able to share this and others with her. Her face lit-up and glowed. I'm greatful this is posted. Thank you. It IS Thanksgiving! :-)
The sister is 94. Sisters Pendleton and Smith actually. Sister Smith teaches Sunday School at our Church. Miss Akers died in 1996. I believe cancer took her. I just learned about Miss Akers in the past year.

Wow, this spoke directly to me. It’s 4:30 AM and I’ve been sitting in the closet at my grandmas house rocking and crying and praying and singing these exact songs. The songs I heard as a child but didn’t get them. I loved singing, but I didn’t get the emotions. Now at 28, I’m leaning on the same songs and I get them. They r getting me through right now

As many of you know Bro Jimmy @ FWC. Often sings this Beautiful song of Doris Ackers. One of the most Anointed songs of yesterday & 'Today' when Holy Spirit is in it. The song will never lose it's power & anointing, it will Live On. Donnie last Sunday spoke with such emotion about this extraordinary Lady. How Doris would gather together the choir & "Pray" Really Pray before going out front to Worship in the church, they would pray until His Presence filled them & the room. Then, & only then would they go into church. Even if it meant delaying the meeting. It was obvious she had no fear of man, But the fear of God is what gripped her heart. Where are we today? Just mere performers, crowd pleasers. 99% of the time Holy Spirit is not present so we hype things up with all our powerless words hoping to invoke The Precious Holy Spirit to presence Himself. He won't m, if we're egotistical. Because He Must Always be First!! We with sincere hearts welcome Him, and when we do, he will never bypass us, then it is He & He alone Who leads into What we sing, & how we sing, and how the instruments blend & flow. I want to KNOW the Holy Spirit, I want to do exactly as He instructs me. Because I know Im 100% useless/hopeless without Him. O! Magnificent He is, when His Fragrance fills the room. There is no Fragrance like Him.
You tell the truth. That generation of saints (I was a teen-ager) knew God, knew how to PRAY, knew holy living, and sang songs that were anointed from the Holy Spirit and reached the heart and soul. I miss that generation of saints. We have lost a great deal and we need their "old-school" teaching and music.
