In this video titledEU4 A to Z - Becoming The PLAYING TALL SPICE MASTER As Holland I do a playthrough as Holland in Europa Universalis 4 1.34 Lions of The North. This is the series titled A to Z where I attempt to play every* nation in EU4 in alphabetical order. Of course I had to remove some nations so the challenge doesn't get too boring. In this video I play as the nation of Holland and I attempt to form The Netherlands and become the world's leading producer of spices. So, let's see if I managed to do it! I hope you guys enjoy this series. If you enjoyed this video consider leaving a like and subscribing for more content in the future.

As Holstein control/form Scandinavia and destroy the HRE.
I think of the Kiel canal when I think of Holstein so take the Panama Canal and Suez Canal and become the canal king
Form Scandinavia :D
own provinces in Denmark and Prussia
Build the Kiel Canal
As Holstein you should control Panama and Suez since you would then hold all 3 buildable canals in the game (which you wont do, keeping the world hostage forever)
That's an awesome idea!!!
Wait there is a way to build the canals in the game? I thought that the campaign ended too early for that
@@victorhugofranciscon7899 nope, just need admin tech 22.
@@victorhugofranciscon7899 It didnt happen IRL but the game lets you build them early if you are truly wealthy enough late game.
@@victorhugofranciscon7899 yeah you can build the 3 canals as long as you have adm tech 20 i think and control the provinces needed
I love how the brazillian provinces that the red hawk colonized were actually a Dutch colony for some time as well with its capital as Mauritsstad now known as Recife.
You mean Laith Fell Off + L + Ratio + Zlewikk is better?
As a brazilian raised in what would be Nieuw Amsterdam (Natal), I find this really pleasant.
Olhem o que esse cara está dizendo
I'm betting the intro hint is the Empire picking "integrate Burgundy's junior partners" into the empire... which I have NEVER seen the AI take, EVER...
called it
i see the AI pick them very often, except when theyre my rival
How often does the Burgundian Inheritance goes to SPAIN? that would make for a historical campaign
Laith fell off + L + Ratio + Zlewikks better

AYO. HAVE WE GOT AN ISSUE HERE? ARE YOU SURE YOU HAVE THE FACILITIES FOR THIS, BIG MAN?
He is right though
I learn from the best what can I say
3:34 JESSE WE NEED TO COLONIZE
JESSE WE NEED THE SPICES FOR GUSTAVO FRING TO MAKE HIS LOS POLLOS HERMANOS CHICKEN
"You tell me Firesland just happend to get annexed like that?
No, he orchestrated it, Red Hawk!"
-The HRE emperor probably
He colonized through a sunroof! And I saved him! And I shouldn't have. I took him into my own empire! What was I thinking? He'll never change. He'll never change! Ever since he was 9 dev, always the same! Couldn't keep his hands off the Lowlands! But not our Holland! Couldn't be precious Holland! Conquering them blind! And HE gets to be a hegemon? What a sick joke! I should've conquered him when I had the chance!
Smash the like button just for that colony name
I'm outside your house rn

What if you did an entire campaign, only using the "Suggest Demands" button in the peace screen? Not for A-Z just a general idea.
As someone living in the province of Noord Holland, I can tell you, despite all those colonies, they don’t use spices here
Is mayonnaise a spice?
I think you like money more than spices
I usually just province hop to avoid losing so many ships and troops. Like, in your situation, I would've gone to the colony in West Africa first, wait for repairs, hop to South Africa, wait again, hop to the island you colonized, wait if necessary, and then get to the provinces in Indonesia. Takes longer, but you'd have to wait to make more troops and ships anyway if you go straight there.
Manually assigning a route for your fleet that preferably never goes through ocean tiles also helps.

"What kind of chicanery is this?" That's an automatic upvote from me.
I realized I've played too much of this game when I started cringing every time red hawk referred to market share as the amount of spices he was producing 😂. For people who don't know market share is how much trade power you have in places that produce that good (e.g. spices) multiplied by the amount of that good in the node (e.g. if a trade node has 3 goods produced of spices locally and you have 50% trade power there, then you have a market share of 1.5 goods produced, which is then divided by total goods produced to get the percentage shown in the ledger)
Man's majored in EU4 trade
What's territying is that i learn even more in the comments than with the videos.
RedHawk, Malacca has higher trade dominance (they do actually produce less than you because you are the production leader) than you because they're funneling more of the trade value from spices into the Malacca trade node. If you set up your merchants to steer the trade from Malacca towards the English Channel, your trade dominance would go up while Malacca's would go down because you're moving the trade value of spices away from them.
Also, you don't need a merchant in the South Africa node a lot of times as trade power in West Africa will either draw it on naturally, or another country will put a merchant to steer it out of the node without you having to do it yourself.
the trade will be as efficient as erling is
We can only hope so
I looked forward to this so much (I live in holland irl)!
Enjoy!
Wich of them?
Zeg makker, kokosnoten zijn geen specerijen …

as Holstein, own every single trade center in Lubeck and the Baltic nodes
the netherlands are amongst the most interesting nations to play alongside burgundy and aragon
12:50 Calling it "Max Verstappen" and not giving it the Movement Speed modifier feels just wrong.
12:48 red hawk a super max enjoyer confirmed?
Red Hawk has the most beautiful EU4 RUclipsr moustache
In the future you should try rushing for that glass province, if it’s 15 dev with renaissance and decent prestige, you get Faceting which is a huuuuge buff
You say streamer luck I get mp luck. As Naples I became emperor and got an austria pu when I was stalemated with Genoa.
Since Holstein has both of it's provinces in the HRE at the start date, even though it's technically not a part of it, as Holstein become the HRE emperor.
Nice name for the flagship, man! :-D
As Holstein you should own enough livestock to get the associated bonus since we all know the most known cow in the world is the Holstein cow.
The excessive horses makes you wonder if there is some forgotten American tribe that starts with them; makes you think, doesn't it?
Should have also taken Artresië, Kales en Picardië as they were also kinda Dutch/Flemish at this time
But stinky border
As a dutch speaking belgian, its kinda tough to hear the way he pronounces these provinces
Isn't market share (the thing that Malaca had more than you) information about how much they make from trading spices? Like you produced more than them but they had bigger trade influence in trade node so they get more money from your goods?
When he gets to Malacca, conquer The Netherlands 👀
> Names the flagship "Max Verstappen"
> Doesn't give it +1 Fleet movement speed
smh
Hertogenbosch, one of the most important forts in the history of Europe, not a fort cuz Eu4 moment
All provinces in the Low Countries should be forts provinces honestly
The spice must flow!
you named your flagship max verstappen and you didn't take fleet movement speed +1 ?????
love the attempt at pronouncing 's hertogenbosch; gave me a good chuckle
edit: not to bad though; it's just a pretty dang silly name for a city / province :D
The Swamp Dragon
"I wouldn't do that myself I'd just stand there" my kinda guy
The best country in eu4. By the end of 1500s I had both Americas entirely all the coast of Africa and every colonizible province in the world, as well as whole britannia and Norway. I was economic hegemon at the start of 1600 and also swapped to Anglican (that rocketed me in the space)
As Holstein you should form Scandinavia as the true revenge on Denmark for Hemmingstedt
Seeing your face for that second was very unexpected lol
Im a simple man. I see Haaland in a red hawk vid, i give like and subscribe.
The nation of Haaland is truly OP
Max Verstappen 👑
naming the flagship as max verstappen made me smile as a fellow f1 and verstappen fan
As Holstein is famous for its cows, become the production leader in Livestock as Holstein
I'm kinda sad, that you didn't give the Max Verstappen movementspeed :c
Anytime I hear "my main goal" I INSTANTLY think of that guy and it caught me so off guard when I said "is to blow up" in my head and heard it on my screen at the same time 😂
the video made me want to try holland so i got france AND castile to support my independence and declared war right after i got castile as an ally, burgundians got smashed but my ruler was so bad (2/0/2) that i failed to keep up in tech, crap legitimacy, crap prestige, crap events -> just dropped it. i'll probably try again and reroll until i get a good ruler
Idk if this is true, but according to the Wiki page, if you form the Netherlands there is a chance that smaller Dutch provinces will secede to join, but I don't know if that is true, I have never seen it mentioned outside the wiki
That only happens for AI during the dutch revolt. It cannot happen for players who form the Netherlands unfortunately
Based Max Verstappen Flagship
I don't understand why people don't use marines. You make like 4-6 of them and use them to secure landings and straits. Also makes sieging random islands less annoying. Unless you're playing Denmark->Scandinavia you should never intentionally use them in combat.
production and market share (trading bonus) are 2 different things right?
Did you ever started a new game with a random nation? What did you get? Me the most recent random nation I got was Jawnpur.
7:25 you know what it is *war noise*
Love "Dutch Courage." You fight better because your flagship is carrying a crapload of gin.
Just subscribed
With a max verstappen flagships, he'll be only able to win battles if the FIA hands it to them
15:04 Red Hawk facecam.
Marines are really good! You should use them more, naval invasions are so much easier, especially when invading Denmark
Just in time
Have fun watching!
15:35 You're not producing 2%, you're controlling 2% of the trade, that's a HUGE difference
12:45 The Max Verstappen flagship... Prepare to lose subs from TeamLH XDDD
PS: Im waiting for the comments 🍿
So I googled Holstein and... you should become a great power while developing only livestock privinces and exploiting everything else.
Alternative Clickbait Title:
Krakowe got released?! GONE WRONG (You won't be able to guess WHERE!)
Not colonizing Cape..... Kaapstad, Dutch historically.... it's the best colony until suez canal opens
HA! He thinks that having colonies will give him colonialism. We all know it always spawns in a random minor without a single colony
As Holstein, "form" Denmark and own all of Scandinavia and become an Elector of the HRE
Isn't being elector random? You have to conquer an elector and then prey for Austria to give you the electorate status.
Just saying the WORD "Holland" just made a few million Dutch people prepare to correct someone about something on instinct
I mean, this is probably the only case where Holland is correct since we're talking about the principality.
Bro lol. What
A fucking...riff raff sighting.
My simulation is borked big time
When the renaissance spawns why do you dev up capital to 30?
it speeds up its spread in that province + there's an age objective to have a city with 30 dev, so it helps you get splendor faster
Wow, I didn’t know if people powerful enough supported your independence your AI overlord could decide to just release you
An unexpected F1 reference but a welcome one
Watching this while choking my girlfriend, she’s enjoining it too, good video
As Trebizond, restore Byzantium. It has to be done
Edgy haircut + love the moustache, new favourite streamer.
14:39 Crimson Pigeon playing favorites
I’ve done a couple holland games since lions of the north and I notice almost every time if I get Castile and England to support burgundy knows they’ll lose and the air abandons the union, overall enjoying the smarter ai to do this but I miss the easy lowlands provinces in the independence war 😭😭
Yeah they were doing that in 1.33 too, it's annoying but it makes a lot of sense, yet somehow Denmark never drops a sweden with England, Novgorod, Muscovy, Poland, Lithuania and Bohemia supporting their independence.
Marines are so you can use troops in your colonies with better colonial policies
Holland taking Friesland and taking all their milk and gas is what being Holland is all about 😄
You know he's got a huge monitor when you watch the vid till 5:10
elite season 3 episode 5 of Better Call Saul reference 3:35
JESSE! WE GOTTA HARVEST THE SPICES, JESSE!
I can’t get past that face cam. WHY ARE YOU HOT?
Sick colony bro
Wait, who's that angry rapper who appears at 15:05?
"What kind of chicanery is this?" then added Chuck, calmly: "I am not crazy!"
Did the flagship blow up Italy tho?
Its not worth it to go Exploration first as Holland. You can't get the range so why not getting an idea that will actually help you first? Like quantity?
It’s kind of an A to Z thing. Watch a few more and you’ll understand. It’s not always what’s the best move for the game, but what sounds fun to him at that moment. Best explanation I can give.
Does this man use mods for UI? Also does he have all the expansions? I only have the base game so I"m trying to figure out what I'm missing.
He has all expansions
Also, Holland (now Netherlands) in Brazil's Northeast is canon! Although you got there 2 centuries earlier than supposed to...
Also Also... kkkkkk I had a crack every time you said Salvador da Bahia, so funny
I'm getting annoying with this, but here it is again:
For Germiyan in releasables you should do nothing and improve realtions with Mamuluks and hope they will support your independence, they didn't want to in my first run, but in second they did, probably because they were bordering the Ottomans. If you royal marry the ottomans go restart. Once you get Mamuluks to support your independence you should either wait for them to fight someone in the balkans or declare immediately because they will placate your rulers to get you under 50 liberty desire. You may want to make a backup save for war just so you don't have to do a full restart if Mamuluk ai trolls you, also if Ottomans ally Tunis you should probably restart or go all in with mercs to try to hold out until Mamuluks deal with Tunis(although you'll probably go bankrupt this way). Once you win the war you should take Gelibolu, Constantinople, whatever you can in north Anatolia and war reparations and stay as far away from Mamuluks as long possible because you are still not strong enough to fight them and you won't need any allies because you'll still be surrounded by the Ottomans. After that you'll probably fight theodoro, crimea, georgia or circassia depending on their allies and then probably even more weakened Ottomans if Austria got Hungary and declared on them, otherwise you wait until Mamuluks declares on the Ottomans and if the Ottomans declare on you then mercs and debt it is, after that second war you should start looking for allies to prevent Mamuluks and Austria from declaring on you and the rest is up to you. Hope this helps and good luck.
Man, so angry, the camera got turned on.
Why does the map look so stale and crap
East Frisia is a diplo powerhouse in all my games in this area. Usually Allied England and Denmark who are rivaled. Why do these big nations ally these tiny guys when it’s AI but never when I’m playing as those same tiny guys.
I have watched every one of your A to Z videos thus far. I just caught up with some of your earlier ones.
1. I question the priorities of my life.
2. Amazing job keeping the series going! Seriously, good stuff.
3. The difference between your earliest runs compared to these latest one are night and day! Omg I was yelling at the screen at times, it was painful watching you lose so often (especially when it was because of a certain pesky hotkey...or hotC :P )
4. You have improved both as a player and as a caster, I feel like you're so much more confident and competent now compared to before. And even when you lose now, you still keep a good attitude and keep it interesting.
Thanks for all the videos.
As Holstein, become the production leader in cows. Secondary goal, have Cornwall as a vassal and feed them Somerset (Cheddar) Tertiary goal have Parma as a vassal.
what??? surprise face cam?!
It can't be a coincidence that i just finished breaking bad and ur dynasty name is von heisenberg it just cant be!! Great vid as always
