Imagine if this show existed in 2024 😂😂 the whole of the uk would be nominated
Yeah I kinda low-key hope it comes back to the UK (probs won’t though)
@@Abletari it’d probably be full of young drivers too if it existed today
It still exists in the Netherlands. Last 2 seasons ware pretty decent, but a few years ago, the candidates were mostly attention whores. Some were transsexuals, and others were on Onlyfans. Those episodes were garbage.
@@ifmcfawn8257 Oh yeah defo 18 year olds ragging around in a slammed audi A3 with a blowing exhaust LOL
I would pay good money to get a bunch of BMW, Audi, Tesla, and Golf hatchback drivers to even try and justify their behaviour.
Sorry, but Quentin parked way too close to the car in front in the parallel park.
Exactly. That was atrocious.
I like the insults from the presenter, like the one about an electric toothbrush
The Welsh woman not knowing that she’s burnt the clutch out then crying is hilarious, then Quintin telling her it’s really hard it’s not love you just shouldn’t be driving.
If Quintin was as good a driver as he believes he is, he would have been teaching her to use the wing mirrors when reversing, NOT the back window as you get a far superior view of objects that simply disappear into the blind spots from turning round to look out the back. Plus, your body is unnaturally twisted, making you uncomfortable, your brain is calculating left / right from your view point with your hands controlling the steering wheel from almost behind you.
In a reverse manoeuvre, your wing mirrors are your best friends, and the best piece of equipment attached to the vehicle, far greater than any electrical park assist equipment attached to modern cars.
Also, if these people have gained a full licence, surely it shows major floors in their tuition and examination, and maybe it's time to look at the driving instructors and examiners ability to teach and ultimately award licences to these people as test standards are obviously too low in GB.
@@ianrichardson8150 Agreed I passed my test 15 years ago and it wasn’t hard and they’ve made it easier since. I drive a van so I only ever use the mirrors to reverse. People are terrified of reversing and for some reason they start to turn the wheel for no reason.
@@ianrichardson8150exactly this, I work in the motor trade and am regularly reversing expensive cars and never look back through the rear window, side mirrors only then interior rear view for the last meter to stop. Can't believe he didn't slow her down and tell her that !
@@lp123456gt For some strange reason, that´s how driving instructors teach their students. I´m not from UK, and i also was taught to reverse like that, and i was not very good at it. Only after i got my license, i started to notice the people i knew did reverse using the wing mirrors, so i started doing it like them, and my reversing skills improved very much, very quickly.
@@mindtraveller100 Exactly this, I did an ambulance driving course and everytime anyone cught trying to use the rear view mirror (pointless as you couldn't see out the back) the instructor would playfully tap the window pointing at the wing mirror.
It was crazy how many people couldn't even use the clutch properly on the course.
TBF, if my ex were in my passenger seat, i'd have a melt down too, lmao.
Craig's the worst driver because he actually thinks he's good. Must have spun out 20 times but his lack of self awareness is the most concerning thing. No idea how he can afford to be on the road with 30 accidents either.
He even got me thinking how on earth someone destroys 30 cars not doing it on purpose...
Already waiting for ep 3!!
Tim is my kinda driver, better to be underconfident that overconfident. Although without hesitation. He would probably be better off on a bicycle as it seems he can't process things well above 30mph.
He’s a well know comedian and actor. Obviously taking the piss for the show here although this was before his career took off. I hope to God it’s a bit
@@jamesh1758 I thought it was Sidekick Simon from Alan Partridge but wasn't certain but it is him!
Just noticed timid tim is comedian and poet tim key haha
key aspect to good driving is confidence, split decision making and self awareness of actions. joseph was fine decision making and self awareness, and confidence when on his own. his wife then took all confidence out of him. and then he just relied on his wife's instructions to do anything.
Yeah his wife has got to be the worst passenger I have ever seen. I recon he would've been halfway passable as a decent driver if she'd give up on the stressed out backseat piloting. Her constantly shuffling about trying to get her own view of their surroundings is on it's own enough of an obstruction let alone the blabbering
@@Doofnut040tv absolutely. If I had a passenger like this I'd drive them to the next train station and tell them to meet me at our destination.
Maybe a series of Britain's worst car passenger could be the next 'thing'.
The casual insults thrown at contestants are hilarious. I wish we still had shows like this
And Valli owns Supra and 205 GTi, can't imagine her repair bills for both
This ikr, she has basically everyone's dream car in 2024
Can't imagine her insurance bill considering she's had 24 accidents!!!!
@@soundseeker63 But only 20 were her fault, do not forget that...😅
10:10 shes not as bad as she thinks. the contestants before were a million times worse. she seems so sweet to.
Loving this series so far, the cars are really nice
All scrapped now
@@ontherailsuk It's a shame they're likely scrapped now. If I could have chosen I would choose the Lada out of the prize cars
@@ontherailsuk It's a shame they're probably all scrapped =( If I could choose one of the prize cars I would have taken the Lada
@@fishman501You wouldn’t have taken that at the time it was filmed.
@@trainman665 You're probably correct, but in the present I'd take a car like that
I remember Kay (Deirdre Barlow's Welsh sister...?) thought it was funny at the time but watching now I feel a bit sorry for her. She tries hard but she just hasn't got it. Also her ex husband was clearly nothing but a hinderance to her. Joseph deserved that win, his driving was fine once his wife was out of the picture.
I was so glad when he said he decided to give Kay some reversing lessons - she seems so willing to learn! Such a shame he’s such a horrible teacher, he was shouting at her almost as much as the husband! I hope she gets some proper support at some point.
0:44 - You wouldnt hear that on TV these days.
they definitely play a role in today's prices for car insurance.
Arif is still lusting over that MG TF.
He must be very happy that Joseph took the 75!
My definition of Hell on Earth. Living together with a woman I've divorced for 18 years!
I'm so happy that they didn't destroy that lexus
That was a very expensive car at the time of recording. I think it really was his own car.
Quentin isn't helping very much, he never once asked Kay to look in her side mirrors to see where the cones were!
If they did this show today everyone on it would drive some form of German car 😂
Financed 90k mile bmw 118d haha
It's not that this show would work today because of sensibilities / language, etc.
The simple fact the show could afford to give away a 10 - 15 grand brand new car back in the day per episode. Fast forward 20 years and the show won't be able to afford to give away more than a pov spec corsa for the entire series.
On the Canadian version you were just discharged and drove off in the vehicle you arrived in. I don't recall if the winner got a new car or not but the final challenges were done in a high powered Camaro.
I don't think all the cars were brand new, the last Ladas were registered in 1997
@@sameyers2670 I meant the cars they won, not the cars used for the challenges. Still even those shitboxes are worth stupid money nowadays.
@@MrLense A Lada was one of the prizes, there weren't any new Ladas officially imported in 2001/2
Looks like a normal day driving on the streets watching this.
Driving beneath the highway speed limit on purpose should warrant 10 years in solitary confinement, at least
"The f**king car's on fire" 😂😂😂😂
8:25 "Was that a park of '87!?"
Errrr errr errr errr 🐶
Markiplier reference 😎
Loving this show. I've already watched all the seasons of Canada's Worst Driver. It is formatted the same way as this. I'm rather amused at the parallel parking test. The first time I had to make that maneuver I had received my learner's permit about 30 minutes prior. So, 72 Dodge Dart (compact by Canadian standards, about the size of a Rover P6), no power steering, no power brakes. Bucketing down with rain, on a steep hill, and on a curve. Success on the first try. Ma always said she never taught me to drive. It seemed I was born knowing how.
It seems to be more about bad passengers than bad drivers in most cases.
always wondered how they are now? think this was aired in 2002?
12:30 The problem in a skid is that you HAVE NO TIME TO REACT. The roadway is narrow so you cannot countersteer fast enough to avoid going off. This isn't like drifting in a corner where the road is already following the track of the car's skid. That's the problem. AND you're not ANTICIPATING the loss of traction. That takes a moment to realise and then react. Then start to countersteer. By then you're finished.
It's very brave of QW to let a contestant drive his own car. The thing is that it's a long, powerful, heavy, expensive car that could get easily damaged. It looks like there are marks on the door from being rubbed by the cones.
Surely they didn't have another piece of spare crap for them to use?
8:30
This lady is a gem! She hasn’t parallel parked since the 87 stock market crash! 😂
Use your rear wiper!
Looking at this many years later in 2024, cars have mostly got bigger….and visibility has gotten worse. That has been compensated for with parking sensors front & back and backup cameras.
Even in U.K. manual gearbox is disappearing.
Now imagine in 2034…the new car electric mandate will mean not many combustion engine cars left, all new will be electric. Most cars will automatically parallel park autonomously. Almost no manual cars on the road (and they will only be 2nd hand), because of electric mandate.
I can't wait!
I'd want the lada 😂😂😂😂
I’ll take the 75
Extremely rare cars now, Almost extinct in the UK
And worth infinitely more than all the others now
My father in law had two - they're terrible! One had some soviet harebrained version of power steering, which was more akin to what you find on a combine harvester. There was a full half second delay between turning the steering wheel and the wheels actually turning, and "straight ahead" was never quite the same place twice in a row.
@@Trims-And-Things there is one on every second corner in Hungary, they are absolute pile of shits.
1:44 I miss this old style of wit on television. Something about it just scratched a deep comedic itch 😂😂😂
I hope dvla revoked some licences from some of these
4:01 - Too close to the car in front. Also suspicious of how far away from the kerb he is. GG Quentin.
4:00 That was ATROCIOUS PARKING Quentin!!!! HORRIBLE!!! You're too far from the curb and nearly impacted the car in front. FAIL!!!
After seeing Arif in the first episode, I would say he’s the one that can actually drive 😂 he just chooses not to drive safely! Big up the British south Asians! 🎉
Come for Key, stay for Kay.
That Tim guy is a puff
11:32 when reversing pick a mirror either left or right ( I prefer the mirror that is to the drivers side) then look for a marker (what you are trying not to hit) then let it flow
Not a SINGLE EXPERT is an actual driver!!! Even Vicky BH wasn't a driver until she joined Fifth Gear.
Fairly sure the ex traffic cop would have been a driver... not sure traffic cops would have chased people down on a scooter.
They completely forgot to even show Tim's second challenge.
I didn't realise that the Lada was the worst prize. I wouldn't mind winning it they go for a lot of money these days.
JUST FKIN GET ON WITH IT JEEZ
Joseph such a sweetheart 🥺
Tbh most of the passengers don't help by overreacting causing the drivers to panic etc. But realistically not one of these drivers should have a licence. They should make everyone do a retest every 10 years or so. It would get a lot of the terrible drivers we currently have off the road for awhile, at least till they learn to drive properly. Down right danger to themselves and people around them...
Great idea for a programme, but it's almost all filler. Took 5 1/2 minutes for the first person to complete the first manoeuvre.
To be honest, of all the cars on offer to take home; I think I would choose the Lada Riva...!!! 😎
Craig and Arif are both absolute pillocks
4:49 BECKY!!! 😂😂😤😤
5:47 I thought this was a sketch when i first saw it not an acc driver
4:03 even quentin parked like shit... sticking out and parked way too close to the car in front. if a car behind him parked close he would be absolutely fuckered.
Imagine winning a prize and it being a rover 75 haha
I'd rather have had the old Saab 900 they were using for the contestants to fool around in.
Having owned both a Saab 900 turbo and a Rover 75 diesel estate.
kays lucky she didnt blow the engine up revving it like that my god!!!😡😡😡
Most were used to driving slower cars with a manual gear shift.
How long did they get to free practice in that v6 automatic Vauxhall? You know, stamp your foot on the loud pedal and you launch away….and you can moderate the power with a clutch pedal.
Question is, how tf did these guys get full licenses? 🤔 it’s soo strict nowadays 😂
i'm old enough to rememeber when this was on tv.
I don't know why they won't show them a step-by-step guide on parking in parallel. I mean it's not that hard if you just follow simple steps when to turn and to which side. But its weird they have a valid license without being able to park.
These days just search for any financed vag product, A class merc or fast 1 series and the entry process would be enormous. The angriest and worst drivers in the UK always without fail have a German car.
21:40 it looked like he was about to crash his new car leaving the control centre
Average young bmw driver or the older who doesn’t have a clue about anything
Becky should sit in the front with the engine
I understand 100% Tim, I do not like speed either.
Just watched the first one and this just been posted 😂
There all there, but the rest are private, I think they are showing one at a time like a weekly tv series 😂
There is no way these people are all really like this. Some of them are actors for sure
Tim literally is a famous actor
what a weird show lol the winner is crowned the worst driver lmao thats not a good thing they shouldnt even be no where near a car
Wonder what the modern equivilent of a Lada would be? Relaunched MG? lol cheap and unreliable.
do they sell drivers licenses in a vending machine in uk lol
no .... but it could be worse , could be spain
No, that's USA!
Definitely not. The test is very strict
Just got to be fake bc how there past the driving test to begin with like how there instructor got there test to
Lol, seriously, you spelt Quentin's surname wrong in the caption 🤦♂🤦♂
You realise they’re automatically generated
That Becky is very pretty and her mum even more so!
The presenter is typically pom, so irritatingly smug.
That's Quentin. He's now shilling for EV cars.
“Who wins what, is completely up to me”. no it isn’t mate. the show would have came up with a scoring method and whoever scores the highest gets the nicest car. you literally have no say in who wins what.
Why are the studio shots of the driving professionals so poorly done? They're all standing about and the camera is zoomed way too close on their faces making the scene feel claustrophobic. It's like a visual representation of the way it feels for an anti-social person to be at a gathering that they never wanted to attend. The Canadian show is executed a lot better than this production.
thats 2000's english stuff, im gonna go out to say fifth gear was like this too.
@@aggrodriverthis was made by ITV so more or less similar crew as fifth gear, I presume
Also, one of directors actually made the more well-known Canadian version, and his death might actually play parts in show being cancelled
