Thats probably why Matpat hates (Hello neighbor) along with the game breaking glitches and lack of polish.
Some of this dialogue feels like they tried to make "Have you ever had a dream that that you had you had you you could've you could do so much you could do anything?" into suspenseful dialogue
Also, the fact that Hello Neighbor had little cultural impact on the scale of FNAF or even Bendy singlehandedly made me suspect that something DEFINITELY went wrong during its development, the team begging for Matpat to make a theory was just the icing on top
(And honestly, I think Matpat's "Faust" theory on the game sounded way more interesting and coherent than its actual storyline BUT that's just me
Remember when everyone make theories regarding some of those cool hidden foreshadowing within the Hello Neighbor lore, such as the Bible verses on the mailbox, the Faust book lying on the couch, the painting of the Neighbor kissing someone we haven’t seen anywhere, the candles and pentagrams on Alpha 2 basement, a child’s drawing on the wall, the number 666 on the bottom of the Neighbor’s shoes, and the mysterious silhouette hidden in the background of one screenshot? Yeah, none of these aforementioned easter eggs actually mean anything and were just red herrings to keep people distracted.

I Had NO Issues with the Character Designs; They still resembled the characters from the games; Enzo Looked like the Inventor Role/Class/Kid from Secret Neighbor
(A Social Horror game; that is basically Among Us; But Focusing more on Surviving; and there's NO stopping to collaborate & vote); Mr Peterson looked like himself!!
Seriously; I Just Wish the Series got Greenlit!

I don’t think I’ve ever been as enraged as I am than with the moment of the girl (I don’t know her name and I don’t care) just standing around in the room when she set off the alarm. There are so many major plot holes in that one scene alone.
I don't know if they're plot holes, but the nightvision malfunctioning, the clearly visible alarm switch being placed closer to the door than the light switch, and the girl teleporting to the middle of the room definitely jumped out at me.
Also, the alarm doesn't appear to have any real use.
It is a shame what this pilot turned out to be bc you can see with each update of the game, it got more and more cartoony and childish.. the game had potential and I felt they went the wrong way with it honestly

I agree, the story has so much potential to be great, but it's the way that it is presented that ruins it all. They made the story a lot more childish, and they watered down every single character to be common stereotypes. The game (quality-wise) was bad, but the story is what let it linger for a bit longer. If only the story could be revised and presented correctly, then maybe it would have a chance at a revival.
I actually watched this and it seems like a basic modern cartoon, but the art style looks so cheap, rigid, and ugly. It's shallow, but cartoons can be better recognised/remembered because of being aesthetically pleasing or unique

Also 3x feels weird to see humans in the "Hello Neighbor" universe. It use to be just the neighbor we could see and no one else. Feels just as weird when FNAF started having humans we could see!

My main problem with this is the tone. Now yes I understand that the game is rated E10 but even with that rating it still had a dark story with some pretty mature themes. I feel like this pilot would’ve benefited with a much darker tone. Especially considering that it’s based off a horror game.

Good marketing
Simple, just provide some popular RUclipsrs like Markiplier and Jacksepticeye with free Steam keys to play your game, sprinkle some cryptic and mysterious lore throughout so that Matpat would keep make theory videos on your franchise like what FNAF previously did and produce some merchandise for your child audience inbetween development periods. That same marketing strategy also applies to other child-friendly “horror” games like Bendy and Poppy Playtime.
Because the alpha version was better than the garbage we have in the full game.
I highly enjoyed the pilot and was hoping to see more. Pilots rarely ever share the same design when they start the series.
Wiki Admin here, Can I ask what makes it "poorly maintained"? We try our absolute hardest to keep it maintained, but since it's a public wiki and ANYONE can edit it, It is very hard to keep that maintained.
Any way to make it more "maintained" would be very helpful,

This show's dialogue feels like it was AI generated.
Not to mention the absolutely horrendous art style of that cartoon looks almost like one of those crappily-made The Fairly OddParents knockoffs from foreign third-world countries that other animation reviewers like Vailskibum94 or Saberspark would make a video on and happens to be apparently done on GoAnimate/Vyond or whatever animation software you could think of. Like what you previously said in your comments, the script is also happens to be generated by an AI whereas the dialogue is just… awkward to listen through. I don’t understand whoever think this is a good idea.
The character designs (especially the kids) also looked like they were designed by some emotionally stunted kindergartener with Parkinson’s disease. It’s baffling to say the least.
Of All the names you could give the Neighbor. WHY "Peterson"?!?
That is not an intimidating Name. That is the Name of a Canadian Philosopher who sounds like Kermit the frog.
Man I remember collabing with you for my review of the pilot, I honestly went too easy on it looking back.
This is one of the best HN related videos I have ever seen! I really hope tinyBuild watch it and take notes because you mentioned practically all the points I had in my head.
So, I have several questions for this animated series because how? In order for the neighbor to know who to kidnap, he'd have to have seen or heard someone and know they took the item he lost. Problem number 2, dude just broke and entered someone's home in broad daylight, yoinked a kid, and you expect me to believe nobody in the neighborhood would question the before and after of his house like was the front door not locked? Issue 3: For anyone to not question the neighbor, he'd have to be a functional member of the town, not a recluse shut-in that parents warn their kids against. There'd be a backstory detailing a little of the neighbor's past to explain the photos.

This entire series did nothing other than to make me think of Nikki's Voice sounding so much similar to that of ENA's
This year, we received quite a lot of teasers on the community tabs of the developers's youtube channel as well as their discord server. We got new scripts (which seemed to change the protagonists role to Trinity). Those scripts also seem to take more sinister turns (one part of the scripts even mention Mr. Peterson murdering a cashier). We also got teasers of the new character designs (which I have mixed feelings about) as well as one video with audio-only showing the neighbor whispering hysterically the childrens names. So clearly, this show is still on development is the main focus of tinyBuild aside from Hello Neighbor 2.
No diprise there, just look at the sequel to Bendy And The Ink Machine Including Showdown Bandit these days and they aintbdoing better either.
If, and/or when, the series gets green-lit, the writing will improve over time. I have hope that it'll attract enough viewers, fan or not, to premiere the show soon.
I read the Hello Neighbor books when I was a stupid 11 year old who liked Hello Neighbor for some reason and I can say that the books hold up really well and feels like a better version of this pilot.
They also made a multiple player video game to go with the show.
the ceo of tiny build said the show is worked on and they've written 4 episodes, and that they are pretty cool. imma be honest, im looking forward to this show cuz it seems cool
Nothing like opening your pilot with your main character literally exposition dumping directly to the audience.
Just seeing this TV series only makes me more sad for how far hello neighbour as a series has fallen to being a well-respected indie horror titan with a unique presence with a slightly tim burton artstyle to a joke series that's only meant for RUclipsrs to let's play being overly complicated for its own good in its lore gameplay puzzles and platfoming hence why Markiplier never played the full hello neighbour despite being a major contributer to the games success and it feels like a game begging matpat to theorise on it, though the creators reaching out to him unsurprisingly put him off and the series has become pandering and a game that is only made for kids, instead of appealing to everyone, to the point where it's become a joke and a point of criticism to horror fans and sadly it doesn't seem like it will recover anytime soon
This is also why shouldn't make a franchise that is dedicated only to a RUclips hype culture community in general, by marketing to the impressionable minds of the young demographic and their favorite streamers churning out daily content to consume. You see, not everything should always have a theory explanation video about them posted by MatPat to gain publicity.

Nicky's design in the animated series reminds me a lot of Max from Camp Camp. Ngl, I kind of wish they had continued this series as I was hoping they'd flesh out the story from the main game and it's DLC, "Hide and Seek", more with the new characters.

Well Hello Neighbor definitely existed its kinda sad to see its fall from grace from getting played by Markiplier to begging Matt Patt for a theory.
Everything about it ia like a fucking gametoons "cartoon". The art style, the voices, the plot, everything.

I don't get why they didn't just copy the style of the books. That would of made way more sense. I mean Nicky doesn't get kidnapped by Mr. Peterson right on the spot. It is more like he is lured into the basement by a scream and then he is missing. I mean the only reason Mr. Peterson ever locked Nicky in the basement in the first place was to get rid of the only witness to him locking his son in his basement, who he so claims is living with a distant relative. But for some reason this pilot just make Mr. Peterson randomly kidnap Nicky in the clear of day for no reason. I don't get what the logic of that is. I mean at least in the book and the game he had more of a reasoning. He kidnapped Nicky in a panicked state, which shows us the message at the end of Hello Neighbor that Mr. Peterson isn't a bad guy. Just a misunderstood man who in a panic, ended up making terrible choices. But this pilot just gives him this over arching villain plot and everything. That also makes me question, are we just gonna throw Nicky out of the plot so soon? I mean Hello Neighbor is supposed to be about Nicky's story. His story of getting abducted as a child and moving back home as an adult to face his fears and live a normal life. But this pilot kind of just throws away the Nicky plot and focuses on his friends instead. Considering they were hyping Nicky as the main character at the beginning of the episode, this makes me question how this is gonna work. I mean assuming the story is gonna focus on the other kids trying to save Nicky. Are they just gonna throw him away? Was he all hyped for nothing?

The studio animasia which animated the pilot borrowed this artstlye from another show they animated called roll no.21 which is quite well known here in india so i found it quite odd that the pilot had such a familiar artstyle and did this small investigation.

I…completely forgot about the game (and the short). I mean, I kept up with it through gameplays until whenever that part of the game with the kids was released and then fell off completely.
Then Secret Neighbor came out and I didn’t pay it much mind. To be honest, I’m drawing a blank on what Hello Neighbor is even about. I know we have a sus neighbor, he has a HUGE house, and something weird in the basement- but that’s about it. The short doesn’t do much help in that regard, either. If I had to guess, the star piece is some supernatural mcguffin that the neighbor’s using for nefarious purposes and Main Kid (forgot his name) disappeared because of it while Mr.Peterson (Neighbor) is trying to look for said mcguffin because it could lead to *dire consequences…*
All off the top of my head, though. :P

Nah, I feel like Hello Neighbor is definitely one of those “horror games for kids” that desperately attempts to ride off the popularity of FNAF solely through its association alone, much like Bendy and Poppy Playtime. In fact, that game originally going to darker and more mature during the Alphas, but then the developers thought it would be a good idea to tone everything down so that they could reach their franchise towards a demographic of children. I mean, that’s the recent trend happening with modern horror games nowadays.

Yeah I new about the animated sires when it came out. I didn’t like it because of those afore mentioned “inconsistencies” with the books, the neighbor came back because Maritsa pressed the button and the alarm went off, also about them leaving Nicky alone, act 1, act 2, first 3 books, and the pilot episode, all take place in late 80s early 90s

It kinda seems like they want to make Hello Neighbor into a larger franchise then it is. To me this pilot kinda seems like them trying to bring this somehow back and get people back or more people into Hello Neighbor. While I haven't played the games I do kinda wonder if the people who made the short didnt have enough to work with. With the Infinity Train pilot its more fleshed out as there was more the writers can work with but with Hello Neighbor they had to stay confined with the games and other media.

Considering hello neighbor is... Well... Hello neighbor and it was being made to be marketable to children when it started to get fame, I'd say the animation is okay enough for me to go "eh sure, why not"
It’s so the kids get character development but too bad because there will probably never be a part 2 Which is why we got a game instead

I was hoping that you would have the section where you talk about what you would do to fix it. When things like this happen in entertainment there are usually one or two big issues that hurt it on a subconscious level. That creates a Easter egg hunt of looking for faults in the audience. Personally it usually comes down to pacing. If they were to get rid of the music and 90% of the dialogue it would probably be a better pilot. Silence is really uncomfortable and you can use that. Character development isn’t really necessary. Not if the main draw of the story is the mystery. You can always create the characters later.
Ngl. The animation reminds me of that Magic School Bus reboot.
But yeah. This pilot is probably one of my most least favorite pilots in cartoon history. Not the worst of all time, but enough to be in the bottom 5.
The only things I like about this pilot are the cartoony music, the cool designs of the characters and the nicely done backgrounds.
These characters could've had potential, ya know.
