In order to do that you gonna need Plastic trim removal tool set, I am using 20 pcs tool set which worked perfectly for me!
Beside that you will need screw drivers (flat and cross-head) small pliers and knife!
I never done this job before dismantle the headliner of BMW E60 , and I tried to do my best and record as much possible details and give you hints about my experience !
I hope some of you will appreciate my work and that can help someone who wanna do it by himself !
I did that job because I wanted to reupholster my BMW e60 headliner and I did it ! It is so much more cheaper to dismount and mount the headliner by yourself !

Great job and great video, I was able to take the headliner out without removing the seat, but mine was plain without sunroof and seats were basic so that might played the role

no, you need to have your battery in order to move open/ close the sliding roof if you have one, if you don’t have sliding roof .. just disconnect the negative battery cable

Does the seat need to be removed or can you just lay it down as far as it will go
Hi Radian, I had to remove the seat in order to remove the headliner out of the car, there is no way to take it out, you can try to remove the back seat, but for me was easier the front seat
@@SuperFastDriver truthfully I was thinking about actually taping and masking everything off and paint it in the car with all doors open
@@radianm6 I don’t think it will work, it is not so hard to remove and do th job properly :)
should i unplug the battery?
it is good practice to do it, but if your car has a sliding roof, anyway you have to plug the battery back because you need to move the sliding roof
@@SuperFastDriver it doesn't, im afraid that one of the airbags going to blow up, but if i unplug and plug back the battery then most likely a lot of error will come up
@@notsureimsure7533 air bag can’t blow up just like that, errors will come but it will remain in the history, and will not be active once you connect everything back.
the only think you can mess up is the front windshield airbags plastic covers tend to brake very easy when you attempt to remove them, but even if you brake them they are repairable and also can be reupholstered by the guy who will do your headliner
All is OK but not necessary remove the seat
you have to remove the seat in order to remove the headliner out of the car to be sent to reupholster
