This song meant very much to me back in the 90th - when the local record dealer and the german issue of the Rolling Stone had been my true gate to the Musicworld - never thought about that something like youtube ever could be happend. Had a girl at Robert Morris College (University now) 1998 that I kissed outside in the doorway of the girls dorm - it was freezing out and we were both a little toasted! But she was beautiful that night. She had that geeky boyfriend and I was a mess - as usual. She was this song. and of course, I fucked it up.... As a fan of both women, I can see the similarities. But Alanis is mainstream while Ani is defiantly independent. Perhaps Alanis is what a commercial record label would have done to Ani’s sound and look. Who knows?
