There is nothin' better than twin fiddles.............. No wait this just blew my mind. Wow truly beautiful thanks for the goosebumps I think I will watch 23 more times. Thanks for posting. Cheers!
Banjo back up is Brilliant. Tastefully done, and fills in all the corners. Amazing on the lead too - what a bounce! Fiddlers are clearly all about the overall sound, rather than drawing attention to an individual. Mando chop and guitar you could use to set an atomic clock - (can't comment on the bass - lol ;) Pure Class.
The composer of this song is also the composer of "My Old Kentucky Home". He was from Philadelphia and this tune is a de facto theme song played by most of the String Bands during."The Mummers Parade". This version is way better than what/how we hear played many times during the parade here in philly.
I recently found out what the title of this song was. I'd hear it on shows like Gunsmoke or some other Western tv show. I thought it was golden glimmers or glitters. Never could find the Song. Great performance!
Not to be Nitpicky but to enlighten others. This should have a preceding part to the title. "O'dem" As I have learened this is a parady of an Older song Golden Slippers. The tune was ringing in my mind this morning. I looked it up.
They are from California/Arizona at the time of this clip, which was 10 years ago. They're a family band - Mom on mando, Dad on bass, and the kids. A beautiful family. Don't let the dad, Jere, hear you talking about his wife. He carries a big knife which he calls his neutering tool. :-)
Alf Ram I know, I was just making a joke too. They truly are/were great. They are doing some reunion shows nowadays. BJ, the right handed fiddler now works with Dailey & Vincent, Skip, the guitarist has a couple of bands he plays with, one of which is Sideline. Molly, the other fiddler, and Cia, the banjo player have their own projects. I love all of them... The third fiddler is from another great defunct band King Wilkie. Thanks for watching and commenting...
Can someone explain to me why this band, clearly from the Southern states, is playing an Irish-Newfoundland song, without accordions, while dressed like they just emerged from the slave era?
Fanciful and Fascinatin! From up here in Alaska!
Excellent musicianship..!! 👍
Fabulous fiddling and great mandolin playing too thanks for the music.

It's actually Route 1 from Green/Red/Blue/Yellow :-D
Now all we need are a few mummers!
Great stuff! Man I think I just in love with the mandolin player. Where are these guys from. Love it!

Does it matter? "Golden Slippers" was written by James Bland, an African American.
It's the melody to a southern African-American spiritual....
@@bigzach1000 who was from Philly and also wrote another classic "My Old Kentucky Home"
Pokémon brought me here.

So not one of these people can sing or they just don't know the words or what?
