As great as Derek is he is no Duane Allman. Duane used to use a coricidin bottle as his slide. It was smaller and freed up his other fingers if he wanted to. An individual technique specific to Duane.
Dwayne was awesome, so was Dickie. Derek and Warren take the majesty of what they built to another level. When apex artists build a masterpiece. How good do you have to be to unapologetically own it and take it to another level.
Warren and Derek are super FANTASTIC players but it is no disgace they are not Duane and Dickie, who from the MARATHON rehearsals Duane demanded could not help but be improved by playing so many hours playing with Duane. Berry on bass was an unsung hero as he was really the hardest rocker in the band and influenced all the arrangements in a positive rocking manner, IMO. Derek like Albert King, Toy Caldwell, Mark Knopfler, and Lindsey Buckingham...all great players, does not use a pick. Rare in rock.
I believe he more accurately said "You don't mess with my Harley, you don't mess with my old lady, and you don't mess with my B-3. Those are the three things that were known back then." This a paraphrase also, from a radio interview Gregg did around 1990.
Not one shot of Gregg? Cut me a fuckin' break here. It was a criminal act. Who ever filmed this needs to be arrested and removed from his camara permenantly by a judge....Ok so I can't spell.
The whole idea of The Brothers is to make each performance your own and not to copy, note for note what was previously recorded. I've seen The Brothers 6 times with 3 different line ups. No set list was the same and no song that appeared in the different sets were ever played the same. That's who the band has always been.
Simply, still GOAT.
for my $$$$, one of the best blues performances ever recorded
Derek is so unique in his soloing ,so tender and fragile never heard before on guitar to intense agressive in a lightning glimpse. This is gold.
That intro by Haynes is friggin sick! I sure do love to hear it when he plays like that..
Love the singing B3
Other than the OG6, this lineup with Derek, Warren, O’teil, Gregg, Butch, and Jaimoe was the best.
THIS MAY SOUND LIKE SACRILEGE, BUT I BELIEVE DEREK TRUCKS IS THE BEST SLIDE GUITARIST THERE'S EVER BEEN!!!
Nah man, all musicians stand on the shoulders of the people that came before them, not better or worse, just the raising of the bar, pun intended
Former Christian, your name indicates yours a bit enlightened. Derek is great and so is Susan and Duane...🎸🎙🎶🙂

Derek Nah ...... Hes ok but No where near the greatest
He's for damned sure one of them!
Wonderful band and song!
He is the best in my book
Spooky, Greg belting the blues but you never see him!
Derek's slide solo is so fuckin juicy. Great addition to one of my favorite songs. Damn
2nd song on the very first Allman Brothers Band album. Not so easy to cover Duane and Dicky but Derek and Warren do a great job!!! IMO.
Love the genius fills by Quinones.
best band ever
I love this version, thanks.
Dwayne was awesome, so was Dickie.

Repose en paix Gregg
tu étais le meilleur

So sad GREG AND BUTCH are gone to join Duane and Barry. The only original member left is poor Jaimo and he is said to be broke and in poor health. 🙏🙏🙏
what about Dickey Betts?
@@ekabannongkuem Indeed, Dickey celebrated his 80th birthday in December 2023.
Love the music but you can’t see Gregg. He is the Allman Brother
“Keep your hands off my woman, don’t sit on my Harley, and never touch my Hammond organ.” - Gregg Allman
(Could be a paraphrase of it).
I believe he more accurately said "You don't mess with my Harley, you don't mess with my old lady, and you don't mess with my B-3. Those are the three things that were known back then." This a paraphrase also, from a radio interview Gregg did around 1990.
Yeah, that sounds a bit closer. Seems like maybe I heard him say it in one of Dan Rather’s “Big Interviews”? Can’t recall for certain.
Thank you LL.
Great audio!
i'd love to ask Derek Trucks how he can stand to pick hot sharp guitar strings with his fingers. When I tried that it hurt.
And why can't we see Gregg?
Because you can’t see through a Hammond organ.
Why see when you can hear.
the soul is there, one love
Trucks guitar is sobbing
Weirdly, an annual pilgrimage
you can hear bb in this
be nice to see greg
Bootleg...
You will one day...we all will.
It’s sacrilege, that would be Duane Allman, my opinion.
Whos singing?
Can't say there ain't no Frillz /
Not one shot of Gregg? Cut me a fuckin' break here. It was a criminal act. Who ever filmed this needs to be arrested and removed from his camara permenantly by a judge....Ok so I can't spell.
So you cut out one of the best damn blues/soul/rock singers of this century, and focus on just a few members of the "band". That's horrible taste!
The intro is definitely sacrilege! Duane's opening salvo is one of the greatest EVER. Warren butchered it. Sad . . . .
Wasn't terrible but the original is legendary
