I miss the days of installing Mac OS X from optical media and having these cool videos.
I just reset my crappy macbook today and I couldn't believe the intro I saw. I realise that now, 10.6.8 WAS the last apple product to have an intro.

Missing from this is how smooth the transition from the welcome video to the setup dialogue always was, including the audio. No other company polishes their UI like Apple.

@@unicodefox They fucked with it, my new MacBook Pro 2022 and iPhone 13 feels not like how my 2013 Pro or old iPhone 6 felt when they were new devices on release, it was a great feeling, everything had animations, smoothness, then they fucked it up

I remember getting my first Mac on Tiger. Opening it up to a screen that happily welcomed you to your new computer and walked you through setup was really nice. It was a major improvement from the clinical Windows setups I'd seen on my family's computers before.
04:50 Used this as startup sound for Windows 7; it came as part of a "Mac OS Transformation pack" I installed back then, I liked the music and used it as startup sound for Windows for about 8 years, until the hard disk died. I searched for this so long!

Zhou leopard I agree. The music is worldly and the way the welcome messages all blend in and fade away gives a message that it's made for a global audience, maybe slightly different but all human. All able to enjoy the OS in the same way.

@@brandon7293 That Developer Preview has made its way online and it just uses the intro that originated in 10.0.
The reason you can't find that intro in any other quality is because it very well could be mocked or completely fake, and has just been spread as the truth for all eternity. Never ending.
10.3 panther Developer Preview one gave me chills. Not because of me using old macs, but it gave me some 2000s Nokia vibes for some reason. Lol
Is it just me or is the MacOS X 10.5 and 10.6 the best intro video they have made? Saying "Welcome" in like 15 (yes I counted) languages? And it's also the most fascinating one I have seen by them to date.

1998 intro feels like a fever dream
i'm from a windows-loyal family (only ever used macs at school) and the one mac we did end up getting was well after they stopped doing these videos, so i never saw these. so aesthetic!

I still think Snow Leopard was the best and final classic Apple operating system. You don't even get a welcoming video with the newer os's. and lord know they eat more resources and don't really accomplish much of anything new. That's just me. Long live my last Macbook pro.

I liked the Leopard and the Tiger. I also liked Yosemite a bit but it’s too plain.
So sad about macOS and iOS became absolutely minimalistic and not so awesome. Like normal Windows 7, completely normal. Not so cool. Still want an old Mac to make a vintage collection! But I live in Russia, so I can’t.
