I got my grandmother's recipe when I was a child..she was born in the late 1800's. She used mayo, yellow mustard, fine minced spring onion and celery in small amts, and pickle relish, either sweet or dill, which ever was on hand. I like the idea of olives and I will try that next.
Hi Linda.....I have worked at our rural church for n many years. When we have a funeral, the luncheon served afterwards always consisted of ham sandwitches and egg salad sandwitches. They were served open faced on a potato roll. Egg salad sandwitches always seemed to go first. To fancy them up a little bit, we added, finely chopped celery for some crunch and sliced green olives with pimentos. So good.
I use my instant pot to make my boiled eggs. 5 minutes on the manual setting and let it naturally release the steam for a few minutes before doing a quick release. They peel really good 👌. Thank you for the wonderful video 😊
Thanks for the egg peeling lesson. I always have the hardest time peeling. I used to use the same type of egg slicer till I figured out that my potato masher will do the same but quicker. Also try using cream cheese along with your mayo, mustard, pinch or 2 of sugar, salt, pepper, paprika, celery seed and what ever else you use in your egg salad. Thanks for sharing your ideas and stories.
This is the first time coming across one of your videos and I must say I absolutely love you! It's your stories that make it so fun.. my Grandmother was from Alabama, she grew up on a farm. She would always teach me her recipes and tell me stories and you brought me right back to her kitchen! ❤
I have started using olives in mine and fine the taste overrides the egg. I use pickle relish dill, and mustard to your receipt and add some cayenne red pepper
This recipe looks tasty. You're such a breath of fresh air. Even better, you're from Alabama. ❤ Egg salad is one of the only things I could keep down before my son was born. My daughter and I ate that a lot back then. Thank you for sharing. Blessings to you Linda.
Thanks for the great tips. Peeling eggs can be a real pain. I've never had egg salad with olives, but I will try it now because it looks great! Love your family memories too.
Hey sweet Tammy! A pastry cutter is a great idea. I'll try that next time. You can fancy up egg salad in different ways, like celery, onions, jalapeños, etc. This is a simple recipe (I think less is more) and this is my childhood memory and the way I like it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Tammy Butler she doesn’t mention the fact that OLDER eggs will always peel much easier than FRESH eggs. It’s just the opposite if you’re trying to make poached eggs.. use very fresh eggs for poaching, they hold their shape so much better.. if you try to poach old eggs, the white will often turn into long stringy strands.. not what you want 😎
Looks delicious! I like green olives and will try it with the olives. I will probably add paprika to mine. Thank you kindly sweet lady for sharing your mom's egg salad recipe!👍😊I will definitely try it. Thank you also for the tip when it comes to peeling the eggs. I struggle with that. 💖
It gets bread crumbs all over the counter when I do this. Also you have to take you bread out of the bag past where it’s been sitting or possible dropped on the floor. Just saying. I’ll leave my bread bag right side out. This is a great egg salad recipe. Looks wonderful!
I love your story about your dad and growing up. Great recipe! Love green olives. I wish I had some split pea soup nobody likes in my family. I know what you mean about having a bad experience with a food and never wanting it again.
Pam Pilgrim egg and olive is an old time sandwich mix. Been making it for years. Also use green pimiento olives, and sometimes I throw in a few black olives too.
Thanks for sharing and I like how you talk while preparing the food. It gives me a homey feeling and makes me go back to days gone by. Days of my youth. Your a nice woman. Have a Blessed Day. I subscribed too.! ❤
When I'm boiling eggs, I always add about 2 tablespoons of vinegar to water and cook. I've never had any problems peeling my eggs since I learned this method.
Thanks for the video. I already use an egg slicer but never thought of rotating it. I place my eggs in boiling water for only 5 minutes, remove from heat and cover for 10 minutes. Then ice water bath for 5 minutes. No green in yolk and no problems peeling the eggs.
Really wanna try this recipe... I watched you do that trick with the bread wrapper awhile back and have used it ever since... i really like that... better than those ties... quicker and neater... thank you sooo much
Love egg salad!! I have an air fryer that I use to Cook my eggs. Sooo easy to peel. I don't have a egg slicer. I do fine with a knife. The tme it takes to fiddle with the eggs I would have egg salad done my now. I am a sweet pickle fan. Always use sweet pickles, but I love dill pickles too. I might try dill next time.
Tisa Young where did you get the recipes? I am watching and watching and she still has’t gotten past chopping the eggs! I’m too bored to keep watching.
That really does look good.....I love green olives in my tuna salad as well as egg salad. Thanks for the video. I am always looking for new ideas and I haven't had egg salad in a long time. I think it's time.
Thank you. I did Subscribe Just you talking thru this video and your tips about crack in the eggs and rap in the bread and you talking on your video just like you're standing in my kitchen talking to me I had to subscribe I loved your video
I was boiling eggs 1 day for egg salad and I walked away and forgot it cooking on the stove. I start hearing what sounded like gun fire, I thought someone was shooting through the window in the kitchen. So lol I got on my knees and crawled my way to kitchen and it was actually my eggs exploding because all the water boiled away. Im such a bad cook. And man did I feel stupid lol
Yea I know what you mean. I watched some videos about microwaving hard boiled eggs and thought I'd give it a try. Worked good first few times until I was in a hurry and set the time for way too long. Hit the button to start and got busy at the kitchen sink with the microwave on a shelf at head height immediately around the corner 3 feet away from where I was standing. Next thing I knew there was a horrendous loud boom followed instantaneously by 3 more so close together they basically all sounded like one explosion. Needless to say I jumped for cover thinking someone came in with a shotgun blazing until I realized they Microwave was setting askew on the shelf after jumping up and hitting the bottom of the cabinet above about a couple of inches. There was a cloud of dust wafting around the general vicinity and the left front corner was off the shelf about three inches. After I choked my heart back down out of my throat and got the pulse rate down a little I realized what had happened. The timer still showed 40 some minutes and the pressure must have built up in the eggs until the first let go setting off the other 3 in the bowl. The bowl broke but the door hinges and latch held. Now I understand why they make them so robust. Thankfully the door held, coulda been bad with glass and super hot water blowin out right at my head. Blew the mica sheild out and the rotisserie turns on when you open the door. Replaced the mica sheet but haven't had time for the rotisserie fix. The door still latches tight and it still works good 2 years later. Startled the livin sh-daylights outta me for sure and can't say enough good about our old Sharp 1200 watt MW. P.S. Kinda gave me a whole new perspective on "nukeing" stuff so I don't do eggs in there anymore.
OLIVES!! I am crazy about olives! Why did I never think to use them in my egg salad?? I've got eggs, olives, mayo, etc. I just added another option to my COVID-19 shelter-in-place dishes. :) And without the bread, I'll be able to keep it Keto. Thanks for posting.
I was already making egg salad before I started watching your video and I was just complaining to my husband about the bread ties😂😂😂♥️ than you just showed me a new way of storing my bread. Also my egg salad sandwich came out good I prefer it on toast bread 🍞 thank you for this video their so much to do with egg salad ♥️
I use sweet relish, mustard diced small onions, mayo salt, pepper , paprika…it’s amazing with crackers I like it better then bread 🍞 I’ll have too try your way sounds so yummy as well
I know it's been sometime since you did this video, but thought I'd put my two cents worth in! lol I've never had a problem peeling any different type of egg. All I do is add two tablespoons of white vinegar with 1 Tablespoon of salt into cold water before boiling the egg. This was my "granma's" trick, she said. I never have had this method to fail me. I'm trying your egg salad recipe today. Looks yummy. Thanks for the recipe.
Hi!!! Its 2020 and I just came upon this recipe of yours. I have been thinking of making egg salad. I will try your recipe but without olives because I dont eat them... Nice video!!!
I got an instant Pot from my sis for birthday gift this last year. I have been doing a doz eggs at a time in my instant pot..I do 2 minutes pressure and then let cook for 10 minutes and plunge in ice water....really easy to peel...
I went for about 30 yrs before I could eat potato chips. Years ago there was a company that made lg cans of them and you could have them delivered to your home. So every night watching tv we ate those potato chips.....I can still taste their unique flavor. But over it now🤗
I loved watching you make this, so much care & attention went into this, who would not like it. Plus your voice is so calming & gentle, I look forward to watching & trying other recipes. Thank you so much.
Hands That Cook - we make eggs Mayonnaise here in England, I am going to try this at my families Hogmany get together. My mam is Scottish, so we wait in on the 31st of December until just before midnight, my dad goes out the back door, (out with the old) & he comes to the front door, banging, when the town bells ring & all the ships in the harbour toot their horns, he is let in the front door by my mam, it is now midnight, he comes in (in with the new) - he has a piece of coal, (denotes heating & warmth for the year), he has silver coins (to wish prosperity), a tin of Scottish Shortbread (more a family tradition) & we open a small buffet for our family, your eggs recipe will be made by me, but - black olives & I promise I will use the brine. I also think some Spring Onions, (I think you call them scallions) - will add to your fantastic recipe. I love your accent so much. It is very 'Cat on a Hot Tinned Roof' - I am an English man, live in Manchester. You make me laugh. Plus.... I love split pea soup. I bet you can make a good one, just not eat it. Thank you so much for your reply. Sending you the very best wishes from here in England.
i davo....you all have an absolutely wonderful tradition! I wish we had that here...just lovely! You'll like this egg salad (I hope) and so will your family. Onions would be a good addition but not too many...you want the egg salad to be the star of the show!! Laughing about the "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" comment!! God Bless and thanks for watching!!! Oh, we also call scallions spring onions as well...no confusion there!
Funny how it’s so simple but everyone makes it differently. I always add a little vinegar and sugar in mine. I have never crushed it up or had olives. I will have to try your way next time :)
Hi Theresa, I've never thought of using a potato masher! I'd have to buy one with the cross cuts (mine is the old fashioned type) Thanks for watching and commenting!
I love your videos , I think you are my go to in the kitchen and what-ever I'm doing in there lol I love to cook but at 35 yrs old I still feel like a newbie so I come to your videos for your tips and your stories ( love them too ) . I lost my grandmother when I was 13 and my mother worked a lot and wasn't a " great cook " lol she did her best :) so thank you for what you do , even when you don't know exactly what your doing for someone :) you are great ( oh and I'm on my husbands RUclips , my name is Denisha ) Have a blessed day :)
Thank you so much for such wonderful compliments. I appreciate every one. If you have a request, if I know how to do it, I'll help you out!!! God Bless, Linda
I use the cutter that you use for cutting the flour and Lard for pie pastry ,cuts up really nice to make egg salad .... But that egg cutter would be interesting to use to .
Hi This method is much easier and prevents as much air getting inside the loaf. It's all I use and I don't have to keep up with those little ties!! TFW God bless
I like lime sweet pickles in my egg salad. They are so sweet and crispy. No olives for me and I hate mayo so I try not use too much. I used an egg slicer too but gave up and trashed one. The one I am using is hard to clean. 50000 chickens, wow! Thanks for the bread tying tip.
I'm making this today, with onion, and relish. Don't have olives, it will taste like a deviled egg, but that's OK, those are delicious. And, Avocado Mayo. Thought I was the only one who sealed the bread like that. Started it as a kid, never saw anyone else do that till now.
I had to let you know i did this .. and used green olives too .. had two batches one with chicken.. the other with duck eggs..both batches were great...thank you!
I got my grandmother's recipe when I was a child..she was born in the late 1800's. She used mayo, yellow mustard, fine minced spring onion and celery in small amts, and pickle relish, either sweet or dill, which ever was on hand. I like the idea of olives and I will try that next.
So fire man.
I’m from Ukraine, never had egg salad sandwich, ever. I’m going to make one now! From all the recipes I saw, urs is best❤ thank u!

I’m so glad to see someone besides me use an egg slicer!
It's easier if you slice the egg length-wise first, then follow with the sideways side
To tor
I used potatoe smasher
Robert Rajuncas l
Made mine the same way but I put Juanita piquant peppers 👍
When I saw this it brought back when I was kid and forgot all about it. So I made it like you did and it was wonderful!! Thanks for sharing😊
My mom made this exact same recipe for Egg Salas. It’s delicious‼️‼️👍😃
My mother hated the whites of the egg too. She only ate the yolk. I haven't made egg salad in forever! I think I'll make some this weekend.
I use my instant pot to make my boiled eggs. 5 minutes on the manual setting and let it naturally release the steam for a few minutes before doing a quick release. They peel really good 👌. Thank you for the wonderful video 😊

Thank you Diana! I aim to please. I hope you'll stay awhile and browse. I know you'll find other recipes you'd like to try! TFW God bless
The stories are good, but not in this case. People look for recipe and fun stories not about any sickness from the food you’re preparing.
Great on tosted bread as well,
with a slice of fav. cheese & lettuce.. sometimes I even put a slice of onion.. THANKS for tip's diffently handy..
I use a potato masher to get my eggs to the consistency I like. Much easier. I like the idea of the green olives and pimentos.
try a pastry blender, if you have one. It is also very easy.
What you said sound like fun it make me laugh.
Me too LoL. I love my old potato masher for egg salad and ham salad.
Yum love idea using potato masher
Loretta Harris That’s what I use too.
I love egg salad n tuna salad also on toast... my daddy loved it like that... yours looks really good
Bonnie Oliver I was just thinking about adding a can of tuna to the egg salad, so good!
I have started using olives in mine and fine the taste overrides the egg. I use pickle relish dill, and mustard to your receipt and add some cayenne red pepper

I don't like eggs, but when my Mom made this years ago, I love it. Great for those summer days when it's so hot,you just want something easy.
Just LOVE the idea of the Olive's in Your Egg Salad . I must try that . But i must have a dark brown mustard in it as well . Just me !!!!
Thanks for the great tips. Peeling eggs can be a real pain. I've never had egg salad with olives, but I will try it now because it looks great! Love your family memories too.

I like the sound of olives!!! A friend of mine adds sweet pickle, and that’s pretty good, too.
Great tip on the bread bag . Now I am hungry!
LOL!!! TFW God Bless!

We do ours the same way, but we put a little bit of melted butter in ours - we sure do love them !
I never thought about using olives! My next egg salad will definitely have olives in it. Your recipes are so easy and so tasty.
TY Pam!! God Bless, Linda

I'll try your method out Linda!! TFW God Bless, Linda
Linda Dillon I'll try that as well
TFS!!
I've only used vinegar when I poach eggs.. or in egg salad
Hands That Cook it works white vinegar not Apple 🍎cider
Makes the shell soft so easy to peel.viniger that is.
Thanks for the video. I already use an egg slicer but never thought of rotating it. I place my eggs in boiling water for only 5 minutes, remove from heat and cover for 10 minutes. Then ice water bath for 5 minutes. No green in yolk and no problems peeling the eggs.

Thank you ma'am. I loved the recipe and humor and story.
My mom used an old school potato masher. So do I. But I love the recipe. We also use Miracle Whip.
Yes, got to use miracle whip in egg and tuna salad, otherwise its bland city
I use a potato masher too to smash my eggs
Your egg salad looks so good! I never thought of using olives. I've always used a dill relish. I will be trying your recipe. God bless you!

It's nice to know someone else likes green olives in the egg salad. Thank you for the tip on removing the egg shells. Good video.
What a great tip for peeling!
So good!!! Just One suggestion , use a rubber spatula to cut down on scrapping sound. ;-)
I WAS SCREAMING WOODEN SPOON for same reason It’s funny the things that’ll put your teeth on edge, isn’t it?
@@bridgetclooney3453 rolling on the floor with laughter!!! so true!!!!
I love your story!!!!
Your egg salad looks delicious. I hate black olives 🤢 but green is better,😂
I use the boiled egg slicer to,makes life easier 😊 Thanks for sharing
Great tip on covering bread thanks...
Looks delish! PS: If you use the potato masher with the cross cuts, you can reduce your mashing time to a few seconds.
Oh Linda I'm headed for my kitchen to make this. Love your Videos so much.
Thank you Stacey...enjoy!!! TFW God Bless, Linda
Stacey Foran 😂
I use the cutter that you use for cutting the flour and Lard for pie pastry ,cuts up really nice to make egg salad .... But that egg cutter would be interesting to use to .
I've never thought to store bread like that but now I will!
Hi This method is much easier and prevents as much air getting inside the loaf. It's all I use and I don't have to keep up with those little ties!! TFW God bless
I enjoyed your video 💙
Blessings
new sub: sent here by Mrs Stokes- love eggs and mayonnaise
Welcome Jill, glad to have you with us! Enjoy the egg salad!!
Next time I feel real queasy I'm going to hurry up and eat a chocolate bar and drink a Pepsi so I'll never want either of them again. (smile)
LOL!! You made me laugh! This happened over a period of 2 years...so you may have to go a bit longer, lol!! TFW God bless!!
I was just thinking I should stuff myself with sny sweets and junk I eat to not want them again
DELICIOUS! Thank you! 😎
Thank you for getting back with me and I'm glad you enjoyed it!! TFW and commenting God Bless, Linda
