So when you ask who cares, the answer is the ecosystem cares a lot. :)

When I was little we had a huge garden with all kinds of flowers, fruits and vegetables. We also had ducks. When the what we called tomato worms went after our plants we would allow our ducks to go in the garden and be our natural pest control. We didn’t use any chemicals or bug repellent. I remember those foods being the very best. 😊
My family convinced me that moths were these ugly duckling creatures who could never be as beautiful as a butterfly but after I saw this vid my prospective on moths changed, they are like one of the CUTEST things on earth I mean look at those boba eyes!
You're a very kind and wonderful person. What a sweet thing you did for those beautiful moths. The only advice I have is that its not a good idea to pet them, although I completely understand the urge😁. Butterflies and moths are covered in very fine tiny wing scales , which most people think is powder, and while petting them very gently once in awhile isn't harmful, you have to keep in mind that if too many of their scales are disturbed it can lead to their wing tearing and then an inability to fly.
My favorite caterpillars are the wooly bears that are brown and black striped. They’re so soft and adorable. They also turn into moths. Sometimes I’ll try to save ones that are on the side of the road and put them in a safer area. Of course if a bird or other predator eats them later, I am not liable for that as its nature taking its course. I just try to rescue the, from being crushed by cars, bikes, etc.
I feed mine to my tarantulas but now after seeing this... I decided to feed them butterflies that had already mated/layed eggs so they have a meaningful death (butterflies have shorter life span)
Yes, you should NEVER touch the wings, even brush up against one. Also, I'm pretty sure that they have a proboscis (tube) and they drink nectar and other fluid for survival.
You should try to raise monarch butterflies instead, like my mom. Their populations are vulnerable despite being such a staple species in America. I suggest finding them in the wild instead of buying them online, which is fairly difficult since they start out so small & some eggs may be unfertilized. Many other bugs you don’t want to bring inside may be on milkweed & keep each caterpillar in a separate container to prevent cannibalism. Also you need to make sure that the leaves you feed the caterpillars are milkweed & not something like dogbane. Some caterpillars may get parasitized, but iirc that mostly happens at a later in-star so if you get them as eggs they should be fine. That hasn’t happened to us in years, but I remember they would turn black instead of having their signature white, yellow, & black stripes. We always keep ours close to windows so their circadian rhythm isn’t messed up, & avoid touching them as much as possible, but you can almost always pick up a leaf they’re on instead of touching them directly. Butterflies can be handled by gently pinching their wings closed. Chrysalises & butterflies can be kept in a large mesh cage, or a DIY one made of a tomato cage with mesh enclosing it. The butterflies can’t fly when they first emerge from their chrysalis, so they need a while for their wings to straighten out before you can release them. The adults can drink juice if you can’t release them that day. Apparently mass rearing of monarchs is harmful, but we can barely find more than 5 each summer so that shouldn’t be an issue. There’s so many other little details I can’t possibly all list here, so if you can find a person who’s experienced with this kind of thing instead of just relying on the internet.
just because it is your first time doing something doesn't mean you have to have no prior knowledge, you should still just do research. it would've helped you out a lot.
One time at my mom’s friend garden I found a green caterpillar and begged my mom to take it home, a matter of days and it turned into a chrysalis, turned out to be an amazing butterfly. I freed it almost immediately after we saw it hatched, flew away with no problems. I know butterflies don’t live that long but I hope it had an amazing life, even if short.
i guess you mean ..lizard and maybe frog? ... i know thoses turn into pretty butterfly's but other lil guys need foods and they big and juicy and probly a very good meal.
I mean I’ll be honest, my dogs eat some weird stuff! And my cats and dogs eats bugs but i think it’s more like whatever flies or mosquitoes they can catch lol 😂 love you tho Jesse! Wonderful content as always! ❤
The sad part is I have a leopard gecko. I’m not feeding her hornworms every day just once a while and I’m sad. I can’t turn them into butterflies/moth because my gecko needs something to eat
It’s fun to do this but please don’t set them free. Lots of the things sold as feeders in the shops are invasive species. Just a few of these released can make a lot of trouble. Also they don’t eat fruit and leaves after turning into a moth or butterfly as they don’t have the mouth parts. They eat things like nectar o can feed off citrus fruit cut into pieces.

If they try once and don't like it, they would just play with it as a moving toy, leaving warm juices all over the place
Cats would eat them hands down, no exceptions
You should NOT be touching a moths wings like that im surprised i havent seen that part pointed out
1:50 hold up 👀 she was killing them with bricks AND feeding them to cats and dogs before she had this radical epiphany? what the actual heck is wrong with this kid?! *4:00 ppl learn from her to LEAVE NATURE ALONE! SHE PRODUCED A CRIPPLED MOTH 🤬
Yeah psycho huh? I lost a few hundred brain cells. I'm honestly surprised she survived into adulthood with all these great ideas.
Not gonna reply to all the people saying it’s invasive?
Who cares. It's one moth.
@@whatever3145one moth turns into a few hundred eggs (about 350 for this species). Then a few hundred eggs turn into about 100-200 more hornworms, who will turn into about 100 more moths. Then the cycle goes on until there are thousands of them and ecosystems start to be affected and destroyed because they are a very delicate balance. So when you ask who cares, the answer is the ecosystem cares a lot. :)
@@whatever3145I don’t know bro maybe species can I don’t know .. Reproduce? 😐
@@whatever3145all it takes is one, and it's that exact mindset that has caused catastrophic damage to the ecosystem. There's a lot of shit to be chill about, this isn't it
Ita crazy she hasnt checked her comments
Destroying eco systems I see
If it’s a moth, it hatches from a cocoon, not a chrysalis. 1st grade science lol
Lol you're making her richer by bitching though. She makes money off engagement. So saying things wrong to piss people off...and you fell for it. So who's the real idiot here?
I actually seem to have a teeny tiny moth in my house, so moths have become one of my favourite things!
This is more ignorant "good doing". You doing more than than good.
Even though all the comments are talking about releasing them which yeah you shouldn't do, I still love the style and vibe of this video ❤
The innocence of this video is cute! I don't think a few moths is what some of you should be worried about.
You should put them in resin when they pass, it would be so nice to have the memory :')
Its not a butterfly larvae...
They already corrected themself in the video, saying they consider moths butterflies too
Crazy her wing healed. Thanks for sharing. Perfect educational video. 😊
My family convinced me that moths were these ugly duckling creatures who could never be as beautiful as a butterfly but after I saw this vid my prospective on moths changed, they are like one of the CUTEST things on earth I mean look at those boba eyes!
Thank you so much. That means so much to me ❤
I step on those when I see them on my plants, but I don't feed them to my dogs and cats
Chill out people. She hatched a couple months and enjoyed her time with one, it’s not going to end all existence we know
You're a very kind and wonderful person.
It’s a “sweet” thing except it seems like she released the other two, and these moths are invasive where she is. So that’s a crime lol.
“Every one of them should be given a chance at life.” I sure hope you apply this philosophy to human beings as well as insects.
Exactly.
moths are already beautiful as themselves, there's no reason for them to "be" butterflies to earn approvals.
Hey guys the new Felix flavor drop it’s silkworm and hornworm my cats love it
Do they not mind the mold?
Caterpillars actually grow the chrysalis inside their bodies. Think of it as a molt
Did you feed adult moths with sugar and water mix?
That’s a hummingbird moth we have tons of them! They love flowers
This was actually interesting!!! Thank you! 😊
I’m guessing you don’t have sensitive skin then, because touching woolly bears irritate a lot of people’s skin
What happened to the other two?
Please don’t touch their wings!
This was so beautiful,i love butterflies its so cool to see them transform.
I just found your channel today. I absolutely love the content you provide. Let name her Nancy.
I feed mine to my tarantulas but now after seeing this... I decided to feed them butterflies that had already mated/layed eggs so they have a meaningful death (butterflies have shorter life span)
Isn’t petting their wings bad for them?
Yes, you should NEVER touch the wings, even brush up against one.
Also, I'm pretty sure that they have a proboscis (tube) and they drink nectar and other fluid for survival.
This is such a bad video. No research done what so ever
Lol or you fell for the bait and she makes money off that
so the hornworms are actually hawk moths
why does she sound like jojo siwa 😭
Those are moths, not butterflies…
just because it is your first time doing something doesn't mean you have to have no prior knowledge, you should still just do research. it would've helped you out a lot.
The number one thing I learned was that you can rent duck eggs from a farmer… 🤓 learn something new everyday
AND don’t touch their wings because you will brush the wing substance off and then they wont be able to fly.
What a beautiful story xx
One time at my mom’s friend garden I found a green caterpillar and begged my mom to take it home, a matter of days and it turned into a chrysalis, turned out to be an amazing butterfly. I freed it almost immediately after we saw it hatched, flew away with no problems. I know butterflies don’t live that long but I hope it had an amazing life, even if short.
How can anyone hate moths 😭😭😭💕
yeah, uh, I too feed worms to my dogs and cats?
How does the renting duck eggs work? I've never heard of renting them before.
Neat video. Thank you for sharing.
The voice pitch and inflections are all over the place it's messing with my Asperger's bad😂
EATEN BY DOGS AND CATS?!
People make mistakes. Grow up.
@@calebn5330you're the one that needs to grow up, learn to be nice.
The day my dogs want horn worms is the day I no longer own dogs
Um.... They take one - two weeks if the conditions are right. Also their wings can be damaged by touching the cocoon.
i guess you mean ..lizard and maybe frog? ... i know thoses turn into pretty butterfly's but other lil guys need foods and they big and juicy and probly a very good meal.
You should have put a sponge of water in there so they had some moisture to help their wings foorm
I hope you kept that as your pet. I just hope this whole video was a bit, at least the voice over part.
They live for like, a week
I mean I’ll be honest, my dogs eat some weird stuff! And my cats and dogs eats bugs but i think it’s more like whatever flies or mosquitoes they can catch lol 😂 love you tho Jesse! Wonderful content as always! ❤
So Cool !!
Wado For Sharing !!
The sad part is I have a leopard gecko. I’m not feeding her hornworms every day just once a while and I’m sad. I can’t turn them into butterflies/moth because my gecko needs something to eat
you shouldnt try to pet them, it damages the surface of their wings.
